Once we began training, the first thing I noticed about Dave was his superior knowledge in how my body would respond to his challenges. That is when I became confident that he would know exactly how to get me to my goal. I must be honest, his sessions were no joke. There were times when I felt like I wanted to die, but he was such a great motivator! His encouragement made me feel like I could do this and you know what? He was right! After each workout I felt great about myself and I was amazed that I was capable of meeting each challenge that he had laid out for me. In June of 2012 I met my goal and was ECSTATIC! When I began tracking my weight loss I was at 241lbs and when I began with Dave I was at 213lbs. Dave was able to give me that extra push to reach 198, a weight that I haven't seen since my freshman year of college. Not only did I lose weight, but I also lost 12 inches overall! Without Dave I do not think I would have been able to achieve my goal so quickly. To those of you who are considering a trainer, I highly recommend Dave because he'll know exactly what to do to reach your goals. Believe me, if I can do it anyone can."

JS, the owner, and his team of certified trainers taught me how to train efficiently. I only work out three times a week for 30 minutes, and it's been enough to completely change my body. I'm down about 20 pounds on the scale, but what really surprised me is the actual body change: roughly 30 pounds of fat gone and around 15 pounds of muscle gained. I feel stronger and healthier than I ever expected from such short sessions. The trainers are super nice, knowledgeable, and always there to help or encourage you when you need it. It never feels intimidating, just supportive. JS also just built a brand-new 3,000 sq ft facility at 2250 Lee Road in Winter Park, designed only for personal training. It's clean, modern, and honestly just a great place to work out. I really love it there. If you want efficient training with people who actually care, Darwin Fitness is worth checking out.

All of the coaches here have extensive backgrounds in fitness that go well beyond the level 1 crossfit certification that's required to become a trainer. I don't want to sound like an infomercial here, but back in May I was having trouble with some of my workouts due to lower back pain, one of the coaches showed me some stretches I should start doing and since then I haven't had any problems since! I've also lost a little over 15 lbs since joining, which I attribute to eating better as well. This is just one small example, of how this box has helped me reach my goals. As with most crossfits I've visited, all the members are super friendly and supportive. And as far as challenge of workouts, I would say this gym lifts heavier than most I've visited, which I like because it pushes me out of my comfort zone. However the workouts are scaled to ANYONES fitness level, and there are still some movements I still scale to this day. I would suggest that anyone searching for a gym check out the establishment's website and to look at what a typical week or two of workouts look like at that particular crossfit. This is also another tool I used to ultimately come to my decision of picking this gym, because the workouts were varied and challenging, but not impossible.
