CFMD is a welcoming gym that works to empower, motivate, and make you an all around healthier person! I've tried my fair share of fitness studios and workouts around Orlando. For the longest time was a regular at a chain gym and focused primarily on weightlifting. I decided that I wasn't being fulfilled in my workouts and wanted to try something I had never done before; CrossFit. I was always skeptical about trying CF but reached out to see what it was all about. I had a new member consultation with Joe and was immedietly drawn to check out more. Joe walked me through his fitness journey and really hit on every point I was concerned about. He recommended started with some PT to see where I was at physically and get me comfortable with proper CF form. I felt so much better about starting CF after the training and felt like in such a short time my form and athleticism had tremendously improved. Coach Joe is amazing and really works to tailor the workouts to your needs. I took my first CF class recently and to say I'm hooked is an understatement. I am so glad to have found a gym that is so incredibly welcoming and motivating (both coaches and members). Including this "skinny-fat" girl who hasn't worked out in over two months. To say I was skeptical of Crossfit would be a gross understatement. Like you, I have made the occasional joke at my sister's expense about the cult of Crossfit. I imagined insanely fit people, or folks who were just generally over-the-top, yelling at each other while throwing weights on the ground, grunting, and pushing themselves to unhealthy places. And then I finally agreed to go to a buddy workout with my sister at her Crossfit studio. And then I ate my words. And burpeed them out again as new, and educated words. Words like "air squats" and "burpees," for that matter. The workout was posted ahead of time so we had an idea of how horrific it would be. I was prepared for the worst- the dreaded simultaneous puke/faint. Word of advice, eat a protein rich meal an hour ahead of class. I'm grateful my sister reminded me early because I have no doubt that I would have accomplished the puke/faint otherwise. Coach Joe and a woman coach (who was lovely and stayed to talk to me, but whose name escapes me) were so motivating. Coach Joe demonstrated each move we'd be doing in our long buddy sequence. What's that? You want another gross understatement? Here you go: "My big sister carried our team of two." I'm not ashamed to say that I worked at my own pace, and proud of it. The best part? Everyone in the room is doing their workout at their pace and no one is judging you. Overall, my preconceptions were wrong and I loved the warm vibes this place.

When I started last April(2014) I weighed 335lbs and had a Body fat percentage in the 40's. It's been a year now and I weigh 231...that's a 104lb loss. My body fat was 19% a month ago, probably lower now. I have strength, power and energy that I've never experienced. I trained with Jim Kaale and went in initially because I was tired of lackluster weightlifting and…read moreathletic performance resulting from back to back car accidents. I've tried physical therapy, acupuncture, yoga and weights to work through my injuries to no avail. So I went in for a consult. He was the first trainer to say "OK, tell me what's going on" and listened to everything without interrupting. He asked a ton of detailed questions, wrote down a ton of notes, took measurements and walked me through the goals for each week. He gave me actionable nutrition advice that helped me stay on track even to this day. If you have scar tissue, an unresolved injury, are frustrated with your physical therapist (like I was), Jim will change your world. After the first session I had improved range of motion in my left side. He is extremely detailed oriented and will challenge you to the end but will adapt every motion to meet you where you are. He is a stickler for form and it shows because no matter how intensely I worked I was always able to work out and feel great the next day. I left every session feeling like a BAMF because he showed me that even with injuries I was capable of so much. I recommend Jim and his practice totally and completely. Wherever you are in your life, if you're frustrated, or want to simply improve your techniques, or want to overcome your injuries, Jim is your trainer.

The community is awesome- super friendly, welcoming, and just a great vibe overall. Everyone I talk to has been here for 4, 5, 6, even 7+ years, which says everything about how special this place is. The coaches are amazing, focused on correct form, building skill, and making sure you get the most out of every workout. They have scaled options for everything, so no matter where you're at, you'll feel like you can do this and grow. I love walking in, seeing the workout, and thinking, I'm going to do that?! The "during" is always challenging, but walking out feeling proud and accomplished makes it all worth it. I've made this part of my daily routine, and I'm already seeing results.
