Sofie is a dairy wizard. All the ingredients are high-quality and fresh, but then she takes it to a whole new level of confectionery prowess with a bunch of rotating flavors that are inventive and mouth cuddling. It's the best gelato I've had outside of Italy and in Italy I had to brave a lawless wasteland of mopeds and people that aren't great at municipal infrastructure. This is an amazing Gem in Olympia, a little pricey but worth it. They can sell you large amounts of their Gelatto for 15$ just ask. It's worth it. Plus it's mostly Organic and local, I know that's for snobby people.... but it's kind of nice. highly recommend trying it at least once. read more

Sofie's Scoops is a gem in Olympia! This is my new favorite place. So many different and wonderful flavors. Olive oil, stracciatella with goat milk, and honey cardamom to name a few. The quality is superb and ingredients are fresh and local. The flavors are well balanced and di-vine. There is no other ice cream or gelato shop in Olympia like it. Delicious Gelato in the heart of Olympia. Ran into this place by accident and I'm so glad we decided to give it a try. There were various flavors to choose from, which all looked delicious. I went with the strawberry stracciatella and it did not disappoint. It was creamy and the strawberry was a jam consistency which was even better. I love the fact that they offered a small cone, which is what I ended up getting and still satisfied my sweet tooth. The prices were unbelievably affordable too. Sofie's Scoops was recommended by a friend, and it was a great recommendation! The flavors are inventive, and if you're not into much more than vanilla or chocolate, you're still going to find something to fit your tastes. The gelato is solid. It's rich and sweet without leaving a coating of fat in your mouth or a rock in your stomach, like ice cream can. Each of the flavor profiles shine through. This Sweet Cream tastes like a perfect sweet cream dessert, not a candied version of plain ice cream without vanilla, which I've found standard with other gelaterias. And, the waffle cone- it is hands down the best waffle cone I have ever had. They've balanced the weight perfectly- it's not heavy, but it's also not going to crumble in your hand, or with a bite. It has the perfect bite and crunch to it. And while it's not overpowering in the least, the cinnamon in the batter (not a coating) elevates it with a downright magical flavor, reminiscent of the most perfect delicate cinnamon toast, without the mess. read more

Went here last night after my visit to Chelsea Farms. Tried a few of the flavors between the Pumpkin Bread, Cinnamon, Kiwimelon and Strawberry. OH MY GOD. That's all I have to say. Ended up getting the Kiwimelon and for it being dairy-free/vegan you would have no idea considering it was extremely creamy yet refreshing. I will be brutally honest and actually disclose how many times I went here after dinner during my week and a half visit to the area: 8 times!!! In a week and a half!! Sophie herself is sweet and very friendly and loves telling you about how she's thought up the delicious flavors ( like the Oly Fog) and locally sourced the ingredients. I have a soft spot for root beer floats and she makes one of the best with a bold flavorful root beer and whatever ice cream floats your boat. Inspired flavors: just had lime-ginger and lavender-rhubarb split scoop (ALL scoops can be split -- twice the flavor!) and the Olympia Fog (Earl Gray with rose petals) is a perennial favorite. This place has pretty interesting choices of gelato. However, when my friend and I were asking to sample some of the flavors, the employee was visibly irritated and would give us less and less gelato on the spoon. I wasn't even able to taste the last flavor I tried because she had given me so little on the spoon. Then, she snapped "Come on! MAKE A DECISION LADIES!!" We quickly chose a flavor so we wouldn't irritate her anymore. My friend later regretted the flavor because she thought that mine tasted better.
