Sweetlee's Ice Cream

When I need ice cream, this is my joint. Tucked into a small corner of a strip mall (best food in…read moreAmerica is always in a strip mall it seems) is Sweetlee's Ice Cream shop. Taste testing is fun for the new flavors. I had two taste tests that made me change my regular, which is 2 scoop sundae with 2 of the coconut ice cream, vegan with hot fudge and PB sauce (you get two toppings with sundaes). But, the taste test won the trophy for excellence today. I forgot to photograph the sundae and the staff glady made samples to photograph. So, the photo with 2 spoons; left Apple Crisp, right is Sweet Potato ice creams. So the sundae was Sweet Potato on bottom, Apple Crisp on top with Bumble Berry (whatever berries they can source) sauce and peanuts on as my 2 toppings. The Apple Crisp was full of a crisp's goodness in the topping. Balanced with the creamy ice cream that didn't overpower the crisp feel. With toppings mostly eaten here on this top scoop-- would make an excellent one scoop sundae. But, then came the Sweet Potato. Note I really don't like Sweet Potato Casserole at Thanksgiving with the candied tubers in syrup. They're already sweet, just put mine in foil and toss on the oven somewhere you need space between things. Butter and salt and pepper. Today was different, creamy homemade light ice cream with sweet potato barely folded in so you can see the layers on your spoon, then comes nuts and mini marshmallows- just melt in your mouth good. I want this at my Thanksgiving party this year! Go to Sweetlee's, they make it all, I've included the menu. Two locations. I usually am near West Olympia so frequent there. Best friendly staff, clean, plenty of little tables to eat there. Pints and quarts to go. Homemade. What more do you need, but a bamboo spoon? Enjoy PS There is a single Pic of their Salty Caramel ice cream. Too salty for me, gentleman told me it was better inside of a Brownie Hot Fudge Sundae. I think I'd slip in coconut, cuz it tastes like supper not dessert. It's very popular, but taste test all your choices first anyways!

Yum! I loved the salty cookies and cream ice cream. We also got a cookie dough surprise one that…read morewas good, might try a different one next time. We didn't like the wooden spoons because you can taste them, so we got plastic ones from another restaurant. Service was great and I felt the prices were fair!

Maybe because I am not the biggest fan of this type of dessert, but I tried the new chocolate raspberry flavor, which was nothing special. Salted caramel was overwhelmingly sweet. I love sweet, but that flavor was too much. The milk cocoa flavor not as yummy as I thought... I loved the toppings and this is the first time that I saw a Menchie's be topped off on everything. Impressive! The service was great! Very kind-hearted staff at the front that walked through how the frozen yogurt purchase process worked. did not make me feel dumb when I asked questions. Was very patient to answer questions and clarify the discount for Veterans Day to me. I liked that there were tables in and out of the shop. Felt roomy, even in the area where you get the frozen yogurt and toppings. Pleasantly surprised! I wish that they had more activities with the Menchie's character line, like coloring pages, black/whiteboards, or games. I have seen that at other Menchie's locations, but shockingly not this one... hm

First of all, the options and frozen yogurt had a wonderful selection for allergy needs. 5 stars…read more Secondly, for a family friend place.. I shouldn't be exposing my 4 year old to a male employee rubbing up all over his girl and making out with her with customers present.. absolutely not okay. I wish I knew who to contact to let them know this is how they are presenting their business.. check your cameras. Homie needs a conversation on professionalism.

Just this summer alone I've been to painted plate 3 separate times! (Parties, girls nights and…read morewhatnot) Each time something different impacted the experience in a negative way. One trip we sat by the window and we were all boiling!!! On their Facebook/IG it always says come in and enjoy A/C but the employee told us it's always super hot by the windows, so no hope of a cool environment if you're in a big party. On another visit (with my 5yr old) it took them almost 50min to bring out her Italian soda. We basically took it to go at that point. I also feel like prices have gone up a lot. The average piece is around $50 or you can paint a ceramic animal for closer to $20. Overall I know I'll be back because the employees are great and getting to paint your own pottery is fun, but I wish the building/food experience was better! Still 4 stars, and watch their social media for deals!

When it's busy, the place can get awfully squishy so I'd recommend making a reservation during weekends and holiday seasons. They also have coffee and ice cream. Regardless of the season, they still push out the finished projects in the same time so we were there on a Sunday, our items were ready for pick up the next Monday. Once your seat is reserved, you walk in and pick your items to paint and a helper will bring it to your table. The paints are on the table and you need to find the number that matches the sample pallet, which is very helpful because it shows you what the paint will look like afterwards. You can write the numbers on the paper on your table to help remember what colors you're using as a helpful tip. There's many sizes of brushes and paint pens. Afterwards add your name on the bottom and take a picture of your work, that's how you claim it.

Our order was correct, which seems to be difficult, as we add mustard and onions to our chili cheese coneys. The service was also great. Thank y'all for a great Sonic experience.

After waiting at least 20 (TWENTY) minutes...... (generously giving them benefit of the doubt with…read morethis amount of time, it was pushing 30), we left with nothing. The time is now 2:12 and left after the manager(?) claimed a happy hour drink, alone, at 50% off is $11....now being understanding that the young lady was in training who was taking the orders, have not yet felt like disregarded guests or anything of that nature; the wait time wasn't the worst part of that experience. It's wasting 30 minutes for 2 (TWO) D R I N K S...after being extremely patient DESPITE the absurd wait time for 2 items that require quite literally pushing a button to create, the manager or whoever on duty 5/4/26 (posting around 2:20pm after leaving off put by the customer service and empty handed) Wait times happen, People are in training. That is understandable. What isn't is the "upper" management attempting to say one limeade slush is $11 during happy hour......it's not that serious but it is, do better. Stop playing with people's time and money, her dishonestly and apparent ignorance to her job was extremely off putting and this particular business will not receive another dollar from me or my family alike. You should probably practice knowing your prices, customer service and time management if you expect people to hand you money for your job....the experience I just had let me know there is clearly a disconnect between whoever was the "upper management" today and the care they seemingly have to not only avoid wasting customer's time, but also being knowledgeable/honest about pricing.....there is not a single $11 limeade during 50% off happy hour that she could show me so now instead of just "oh they had a bad day" it's moved onto "you're liars and not getting my money" because how difficult would it have been to just be logical in that moment and realize AS MANAGER training a new employee is not an excuse to lie about prices or try to rush people off because YOUR LINE TOOK 20 MINUTES and we are not the only customers who had to leave empty handed. If management hates their job, quit. Just wasted my time, which affects my money; which yes, some of us DO actually care about. Much love and encouragement to the young lady who was in training and doing her best, I can see why we just sat there around 30 minutes and left empty handed because she clearly isn't receiving any help from management.....whatever woman was "in charge" today seriously needs an evaluation. That was the worst experience I've had at ANY Sonic. Hope those $11, "50% off happy hour" singular slushes are coated with real gold because what....0/5 no stars if I could because they couldn't manage to just pour a drink in a cup today.
