I am very dissatisfied and disappointed with their service here. I am a regular and a local to the community, so I appreciate Sofia's. However, I had a TERRIBLE service experience when I went to order my USUAL weekly take out order of a calamari & shrimp combo. Usually I take my calamari fried and my shrimp grilled. I was informed that they weren't going to make it for me this evening because they're a busy. I reminded him of my previous orders which were consistent of my usual, the guy on the phone became very hostile and began to yell at me over the phone ! Definitely unacceptable. We were Stranded at JFK airport after Delta decided to screw us and cancel the second leg of our flight home from vacation with nothing else available for days. We were starving, and Sophia's pizza was the only place reasonably close that was still open. The Pizza was great, and everyone was so nice to us, including the lovely couple that sat next to us. I was staying at a JFK Airport hotel whose restaurant was closed. I ordered delivery from Sofias and the food was great. Chicken Parm, spaghetti and garlic knots. The food was fantastic, delivered hot and great big portions. I'd eat here again in a NY second. Next time through the area I'll eat at the restaurant to check it out. 5 Stars...!!!! read more

Stereotype of a "hole in the wall" restaurant, but it is AWESOME! Great service, wide variety of food and everything I've had was a huge portion and delicious. Staying at the Resort World Hyatt nearby, this place is 100% with the walk or a cab ride to get away from the pathetic dining options at the Hyatt. Have had the Walker's special, and the Pollo Saporita. Both were amazing and it is a hard choice to not do them again and try something new. Just go eat there already!!!!! read more

The food was just horrible! We ordered several dishes-- the pizza was perhaps the worst. The dough was chewy and soggy, no crust whatsoever to speak of or crunch to it...and I'm not a crust person! It was not baked long enough at all. Further, salad wilted remarkably fast as I wanted to eat more the day after ordering and could not. The zucchini sticks were also soggy and disappointing! My boyfriend picked up a chicken parm hero and a meatball parm hero here last week for dinner. They were both pretty good and not to mention they were hugeeeee! My boyfriend picked them up after work and brought them into NYC so by the time they got there they were a little soggy but they were still tasty. So I'm sure when they are fresh they are even better! Both were so large I could hardly even finish half of my meatball hero. The sauce was good and the meatballs had great flavor. I'm always at this establishment pretty much all time and all the employees wear a mask. I am surprised to hear that was your experience to be honest I came in one day and didn't bring my mask in and the owner offered one to me, he mentioned that it was for my safety. Very professional staff- I ordered lunch for 25 people for staff appreciation in 2 days, and received exceptional service. Nick handled each concern re: Covid Safety. Everyone's order was individually wrapped with their Names on tags and boxed with their dish and any accompanying items (ex.salad dressing). Delivery was requested for 11am and was on time. So far every time I order from there, whether it be a slice or pie, the food is always undercooked. dough is still raw, cheese can't stay on the slice and the pizzas are floating in grease. I ordered from here off of ubereats 2 salads and an order of Buffalo wings. The salads were absolutely delicious. I ordered a Greek salad with grilled chicken and a Caesar salad with grilled chicken yummy. Oh my gosh where to start. I walked in and it was very busy and my initial reaction was this isn't going to go well. I was totally wrong. To begin with the service and staff were amazing. The manager, I wish I knew his name waited on me and was probably the best server I've ever had. Just absolutely wonderful people. And then the food. Being from Tennessee I don't get really good New York Pizza frequently. I travel a lot though so I know it when I get it and this pizza is amazing. Oh man I love this place. Staff is awesome and the food is even better. Nick comes up with some amazing specials but the menu is also loaded with great entree's. Portions are huge either eating is a hobby of yours or you'll have two good meals out of one. Delivery orders are constantly flying out the door and it doesn't slow the kitchen down one bit. Don't even think about it. Meatball hero was gross. The meat was inedible . Probably poor quality and over microwaved. Ordering was a joke. No they could not handle (for any price) selling a half meatball , half sausage hero. I asked for that and for them to charge me whatever upcharge they wanted and it was "impossible". The lasagna was only marginally better. I should have just stuck to some pretzels that I got from the airplane. Plus, it was relatively expensive. I come here all the time for their wraps. The veggie wrap is incredibly tasty, and the dressing they give with the wrap is so good. I don't eat meat, but everyone I bought the Frankie wrap for has loved it. The staff is very friendly and always greets you with a warm hello and thank you when you're leaving. Was here recently during the day with my boss and one of our teams at work. Upon being seated we were served freshly baked bread with olive oils seasoned with a proprietary Italian seasoning blend (I think ) and Parmesan cheese. It was so delightful I endeavor to recreate it at home. For appetizers we had mozzarella sticks, baked clams, stuffed mushrooms and calamari. All delicious all fresh. It was all fresh and delicious. For my appetizer I had the tortellini (pictured) I'm a cheesy fettuccini sauce which did not disappoint. I actually couldn't eat it after stuffing my face with all the deliciousness that came prior. I took it home and ate it later. Still amazing. The service was fast, professional and personable. I cannot wait to bring a friend there mid week. The prices are very reasonable. Thought I was being kicked out when he was actually telling me the bathroom was now open for use. Don't expect a smile or a friendly hello while walking in. But I wouldn't take it personal. Spaghetti & Meatballs. Tomato sauce was thin. Could have been a cheap store purchased sauce. Watery. There shouldn't be a pool of red water in my bowl under the spaghetti as I'm eating it. I guess that means they put the wet noodles in the bowl & didn't really take time to strain it. The pasta could have used a little salt. Bland. Two small meatballs. I think they could have given a third considering the size of the pasta bowl. Nothing special. Garlic bread toasted. Soaked & drenched with butter. Tasted good, but my poor arteries. In most cities, this would be 5 star pizza. In Jersey, this would be 4 star pizza. But this is the City. This is the home of pizza. The pros: Great taste. I had a special with fresh mozz and pesto, and I could tell there were great ingredients on top. The mehs: Crust was so-so. Too thick and chewy for NY-style, though not bad, and I actually like a bit more heft to my crust. It would be a personal pro, but objectively, it's not what people think of as NY-style. The cons: Price, mainly. $22.50 for an eggplant grandma pie that weighed half as much as a regular pie. Thin as all heck, no visible basil, old dried splotches of tomato sauce on hefty circles of eggplant. $3.50 a slice for special. They quoted $15.95 for a plain pie but the menu said $13.95. If I was at all ambivalent about the prices being unfair, that sealed the deal. The main thing Sofia's has going is that it's probably the best pizza within arm's reach of JFK. Not in a great neighborhood, so for residents there with limited options, it's the best pizza they can walk to, but on the other hand, probably priced out of their reach. I have better pizza within walking distance 30 miles out from Manhattan, so there has to be better in Queens. read more

I ALWAYS order from Sophia's. Today they lost a loyal customer. I called to place an order for delivery and a rude male answered the phone. I asked for a wrap that was on the menu but instead of meat sauce and American cheese I asked for vodka sauce and mozzarella cheese. He stated, verbatim....." that makes no sense..... tell me what you want and I will make it for you..", very rudely. I don't understand what didn't make sense as I spoke plain English. I then replied telling him that I was told I could not order a custom wrap and I proceeded to say what I wanted on my wrap. He cut me off with the nastiest attitude stating "I can't hear you speak in to the phone!" To which I then hung up. Be mindful of how you speak to people. No smart person would speak to any customer this way, especially if you are dealing with their food. What he should have done was apologize to me for the fact that his staff lied initially and stated they don't do custom wraps. Then proceed with a friendly tone...but instead he did the total opposite. I will tell everyone about my experience here as this was the most disgusting. I will NEVER order from this place again! read more
