We tried to dine for dinner on Sat but it was packed and we had not made a reservation so we booked a late lunch on Sunday. Luckily it was brunch! We got to try some fun different items but I did wish we had some more pasta options. I ended up with a potato Cacio and my husband with steak and eggs. The stars were the scalloped potatoes that were cubed and the ricotta with fig and honey! We will definitely be back the next time we are in Toronto!

Great ambiance! They have a dining area and a bar/lounge area. A reservation is highly recommended. Excellent service with a very attentive staff. Food was delicious and filling. I would highly recommend coming here.

I'm not sure if the overall lower ratings are specific to the evening, but I came here for brunch on a Saturday afternoon, and loved it! It wasn't super busy during this time, and because the space is quite large, diners weren't placed so close together that you can hear the conversation of the table beside you. The interior of Sofia is beautiful, and our personal server was great! She was friendly, easy to understand, knew the menu, and always came by at the right moment to refill our water glasses. I thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered during this visit, as it was all very flavourful without being overwhelming. I especially loved especially the tigelle (similar to an English muffin) that was served with my eggs benedict. It was somewhat buttery, crispy on the outside, and soft in the inside. Ordered: - uova in camicia (eggs benny) - insalata di rucola (arugula salad) - zeppole di san giuseppe (Italian doughnut & pistachio ice cream)  - Apricot and Peach bellini - Pomegranate and Tea bellini

It's great to go to a restaurant, celebrate a special day, and actually leave feeling good about your decisions and the quality of the restaurant. It doesn't happen enough these days. We started off our meal with the Apollo (Grilled Octopus) and a white fish crudo. It was carb night Sunday so we ordered the pappardelle di angnello and garganelli pastas at 50% off. We enjoyed the appetizers a lot. The crudo was possibly the best dish I had at Sofia, the octopus came a close second but I would've preferred it to be a little more seared and crunchy on the outside. While we did enjoy the pasta dishes, I would never willingly pay full price for the dishes. We ended our meal the Baci di Sofia after being convinced by our server to try it. He mentioned that they had a French pastry chef fly in and curate the dessert menu for them. The dessert was absolutely delicious. Overall I would highly recommend Sofia for their carb nights, 50% off dessert and pasta is a steal and highly worth it. Their cocktails and appetizers were good and the service and ambiance cannot be beat.

This place was alright. It was on my list since I had seen it on Instagram. But didn't realize the menu is mostly seafood and beef options. There aren't any chicken options on the menu, just so people know. Surprisingly we went around 6pm for dinner and it was pretty empty not many people were at the restaurant. They do have an outdoor patio as well which was slightly busy. The portions were alright, I didn't really enjoy the food. I got the Burrata which I thought would come with bread but didn't. I have had better burrata before. For the main I got Bistecca Di Wagyu, personally I didn't like it. The side was hyped up by the waitress but wasn't that great. The waitress we had for our table was kind of annoying as she kept circling our table too many times and asking over and over again if we were ready to order. Since we all at the table had not seen each other for a while, we would be in a middle of a conversation and she would just disrespectful start asking have we decided what to order. As we had told her numerous times that we will call her once we are ready. Personally I don't think I will be back.

Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. Came here with a group of 4 for a work dinner and we had a very pleasant time. We were seated in the outdoor courtyard on a nice Wednesday evening. The service was pleasant and answered all of our questions regarding allergies and menu ingredients. We started with the carpaccio and burrata. Both were flavorful and light. Great accompaniment to our starting cocktails. For, entrees each had their own and I got the scallop pasta. My colleagues mentioned the wild boars ragu was very good and filling. He ended up boxing about 30% of the pasta to take home. The veal Milanese another colleague got was also very large and filling. My pasta was good as well. Asked for some red chili flakes which was a good complement. Only complaint is that for $32 the pasta literally only had 1 scallop. It was a good scallop that melted in your mouth but felt a little cheated that there was only 1. Main reason why the review is a 4 instead of a 5

Came here yesterday for my bday dinner! My boyfriend managed to get a spot and I was highly impressed with the service and the food! For the food, really good!! I ordered the fritto misto, fettuccine all argosta, garganelli and to end it off with the tartufo! All of these items tasted amazing and delicious!!! I especially loved the dessert!! Service wise- amazing, we had a super attentive server and constantly checked and topped off our water for us without asking! Highly recommended this place!! Food is good, ambiance is good, and service is good!

So we heard a lot about this spot so we definitely had to try it. The ambiance was a bit upscale but relaxing, our server was amazing but it took a hot minute to get our food out. The zucchini flowers were amazing! I could eat those all night. The scallops were very chewy and didn't seem fresh. The prosciutto was average nothing special. And the popular rigatoni was average too. Didn't realize I didn't ke a pic of my dessert. It took an hour after our appetizers to get our main course. Would I come back when in Toronto? No, I would try something else. But don't cross this spot off your list, at least try it once. The restrooms were clean, the DJ was great and the hostesses were definitely attractive. Ohhhh and the address was a different place...you have to walk in and around to find it. Happy eating!

First and foremost, the service was excellent, and the staffs were extremely attentive. The food is just okay at best. The carpaccio was good at first bite, but as I continued eating, I found it to be too salty for my taste. The octopus was not bad, it is far superior to my mother's cooking (but to be quite honest, she's a pretty bad cook LOL). In my opinion, the lobster pasta was below average, tasting like store-bought pasta sauce. I had to drink a lot of water after eating the breaded veal. In my opinion, the wagyu was also adequate, but nothing particularly noteworthy. The tiramisu was delicious!! The coffee-flavored ice cream was a good addition. Don't think I'll be back anytime soon.

Not very exciting to look at, and tastes bland. Not much to say... The 2 stars was for the service which really carried. I saw meals on other tables that looked a bit better and made me re-think my decision. The waiter saw it on my face. Remember everyone, it's not their fault! I still tipped well and just let them know this isn't what I paid a $$$ price for. Will not be back. You've been alarmed. 2.9/5

This is a gorgeous restaurant that I had been wanting to try for quite a while. Unfortunately, the decor is where the positive ended for me, and I was left feeling extremely disappointed in this meal. I had some out-of-town guests visiting and I always try to take them to the best restaurants in the city, so although I'd never been before, I took a chance with Sofia. The food was a let-down - not just for me, but also for my guests. I always have higher expectations for food when the price point is higher than average. Meaning, if my entrée is higher than $50, especially without sides, it better be amazing. It started out fine, with cocktails and appetizers of fresh oysters, stuffed olives, burrata and fritto misto. No real complaints here. The first bottle of wine that we had, based on the sommelier's recommendation, was just ok. Not really the fault of the restaurant, but we'd hoped for something a little better. The second bottle was much better. Two of us decided to share the whole lobster entree plus the tenderloin with foie gras entree. The third person in our group had the lamb, which I didn't get to taste. The steak itself was quite small and the portion of foie gras was tough and dried out (almost crunchy) on one side and generally just not seasoned well. I've had foie gras in numerous restaurants and this was hands down, the most disappointing. If I'd never had it before, based on this serving, I would be unlikely to order it again. I didn't like how they served the steak cut in half, as it cooled off too quickly. If the plate had been warm, that would have helped, too. Basically, after the second bite, the steak was cold and the marbled fat made for an unpleasant taste. The lobster was quite small as there was not much meat in it, so for $70, it was not a great value. The sides were actually pretty good - we had the spinach as well as the oyster mushrooms. Definitely enough of those to go around so they were a much better value. Dessert was probably the highlight. I really enjoyed the tiramisu. Normally, these friends of mine are thrilled with the restaurants I've chosen in the past, but they said this was the least appealing place I'd taken them to in the 10+ years they've been visiting Canada - which includes both Vancouver and Toronto. I might be tempted to give them another try, but probably not going to rush back anytime soon. I know there's a lot of great restaurants in this city!!

I knew from previous visits that the food and service were exceptional, but this week reinforced why this has become one of my go-to spots whenever I'm in the city. Max and Trevor behind the bar made the experience seamless from night one. Not only did they remember my name, they recalled my exact order and dietary needs every evening without hesitation. Traveling for work while maintaining a low sodium, heart healthy diet can be challenging, so finding consistency matters. I did not want to chance food remorse or uncertainty with ingredients, and they made sure my burrata and salmon were prepared perfectly each night. By night five, I was basically in a legally recognized relationship with burrata, salmon...and the guys. Sofia, who had provided exceptional service to us on a previous visit months ago, was there as well. I made a point to remind her how memorable and appreciated her hospitality had been, and it was great to see the same professionalism and warmth continue throughout the restaurant team. Five straight nights at the same restaurant says a lot on its own. Consistent food, genuinely attentive staff, and an atmosphere that makes you want to come back. I came here with my best friend for a birthday dinner, and I could immediately see why this place has lasted for decades. It's tucked inside an old house on Elm Street, and the whole restaurant has that warm, family-run charm that makes you feel like people have been coming here for years and bringing more people back with them. The tables are definitely close together, so it's a little tight when the restaurant gets busy, but honestly that also adds to the lively energy because there was a steady flow of people coming in all night. Food-wise, there were a few dishes that really stood out. The carpaccio is such a good order, very thinly sliced raw beef, simple and classic, and honestly one of the most reasonably priced versions I've seen. My personal favorite was the prosciutto & melon. It's such a simple dish, but when it's done well, it really hits, and this one did. The real star for me though was the Cozze Marinara. The mussels were plump, tender, and clean, with no sandy bits, and the garlicky tomato sauce was so good that I ended up scooping it up with bread until the plate was basically spotless. We also tried the Vitello Marsala with mushrooms and Penne Arrabbiata, which felt very classic and comforting. If you like traditional Italian flavors, this is the kind of dish that will make you happy. That said, I personally wouldn't recommend mixing the meat and pasta together too much, I think they shine better on their own. Later we also ordered the garlic grilled seafood fettuccine because we were enjoying ourselves so much, and that one was much lighter in flavor. Nice enough, but probably not the best choice if you like richer or bolder pasta dishes. By the end we were completely full and had to leave a few strands of fettuccine behind, which almost never happens for me. Overall, Donatello feels like the kind of neighborhood Italian restaurant people return to for comfort, generous portions, and that warm family run atmosphere. It may not be the most spacious or modern place, but it has heart, and some dishes were genuinely memorable.

There is an upstairs balcony seating but I've never sat there. During warm weather, there is plenty of roadside outdoor seating too. This is my fourth time here but I never wrote a review fir the restaurant before. We ordered the following: 1. Shrimp Perno (daily special $6/shrimp). Jumbo Shrimp sautéed in garlic, white wine, tomatoes, scallions, and finished off with a shot of perno liquor. 2. Rack of Lamb (daily special $59.95). Four pieces of lamb in a rack, with a rich portion wine reduced sauce, that has a touch of mint to it, and Penne Pasta in a tomato rose sauce. The table bread was really good. The crust was crispy but the inside was fluffy. The soft butter that came it was so tasty. The bread was perfect for dipping in the sauce that came with the shrimp. We asked for a second basket of bread and they put two loafs in the second basket. It was too much so they were willing to let us take it home. The shrimps were definitely jumbo. It was so filling. Two pieces (per person) were good enough as an appetizer. The shrimps were perfectly cooked. We requested the lamb be cooked medium rare. It was definitely medium rare. It was juicy and did not have a gamey taste. It tastes great. The pasta was perfectly al dente. The tomato rose sauce was really good. They offered to grind parmesan cheese and pepper so we got both. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking and paid parking lots. Review 2025-187

We went for an early Sunday dinner before a concert at Massey Hall. The restaurant got pretty busy as the evening went on, but it never felt chaotic. The atmosphere is lovely and lively, a great choice for a special night out or a pre-show meal. We started with Calamari alla Griglia with mixed greens, capers, onions, and fresh tomatoes. It was a fresh, bright appetizer with good balance. For mains, my date had the Spaghetti in Canna a Mare with clams, mussels, calamari, scallop, and tiger shrimp in a tomato sauce. The menu described it as mildly spicy, but it definitely had a noticeable kick. Still, the flavours were really good. I ordered the Ravioli al Brasato with braised beef, butter, sage, and parmigiano. It was tasty and comforting, though portion-wise I could have used a few more ravioli. I was still a bit hungry after and honestly double the size would have been perfect for me. For dessert we shared the Tiramisu with espresso-soaked savoiardi, mascarpone, and cocoa. I had an amaro while my date finished with zambuca. A sweet and satisfying way to wrap up the meal. The service was friendly, though drinks came out a bit slower than expected. Terroni's food is tasty, the setting is gorgeous, and it's easy to see why locals keep coming back. Some of the flavour combinations were just off (the skewer with fruit, cheese and something else) - like they paired the wrong cheese with the fruit. The meal itself was a seat down meal (family style) which did take over two hours to complete for the amount of guests that were present (over 200 ppl). My favorite dish was the tomato and mozza salad. My most disappointed dish was the ragu pasta. Though containing a good amount of meat it was not saucy at all. The pizza was the brocolini was good as well. The reason I gave this restaurant three stars is strictly for the lack of elevator and the food quality vs the price.
