I recently attended a wedding at Sodo Park. I'd rate the food at 3.5 stars and everything else at 5 stars. The space exudes a rustic feel with a soft touch. Dark knotty wood is set off by flowing white curtains. Brick adds an industrial vibe which is contrasted by modern furniture. The main space for the ceremony (and later the reception) has very high ceilings. The area could be very dark but those white curtains add life to the celebration! during the ceremony, the acoustics were less than desirable and as a guest in the front row, I was unable to hear the officiant or the groom clearly. On the outer perimeter, windows provide great natural light for photos, depending on the time of day. I must say that the temperature of the building was on point during the ceremony and even through dancing at the reception. Staffing levels were excellent. From people stocking the bathrooms to wait staff serving appetizers to break down staff setting up the reception - there were people everywhere! The food was okay and some of it was less than okay. The crab cakes were a highlight for me. These appetizers were brought around while we waited for the reception area to be set. They were served warm and tasty! The stuffed mushroom appetizers were equally tasty and right on point. The roasted vegetables at the buffet dinner were cooked just right and seasoned perfectly. The two biggest misses of the night at the buffet dinner were pretty big ones. The first was the beef loin. I enjoy my meat a bit on the medium rare side. However, not everyone does. I heard a number of complaints from guests at my table and around me about the meat being cooked under. The second miss was the gnocchi which was a soggy mess. Overall, I had a great time at the wedding and great food would have made it a perfect evening.

We had our wedding here (~100…read moreguests) and I cannot say enough good things about both the experience with the planning process and the night of the wedding. 1. The planning process: Danielle, the event manager, was organized, thoughtful, answered all our questions promptly, and gave us ample heads-up with any deadlines we might be approaching. She had a great group of vendors who she worked with (we went with one of her florist and DJ recommendations- both were stellar). 2. The night of the wedding- I heard from many friends to prepare myself for things going wrong and to roll with it - but nothing went wrong! The event staff at Georgetown took care of everything! The food was delicious (many raves about the meal and the appetizers), and the drinks were equally good (a wide range of options + our signature cocktails - the Jolly Roger and the Orange Mojito). The groom and I were able to dance and enjoy the time with all of our guests, knowing that everything was taken care of. Finally- the venue itself - it was gorgeous and exactly what we imagined for our wedding day. The location is great, just down the street from some fun after-party bars. I highly recommend hosting an event at Georgetown Ballroom.

The care, experience, atmosphere and attention to every detail is beyond what I was expecting! We had a couple people come and say they are looking at evening their daughter's wedding here. People are still saying it was the best wedding they have been too!! Check this place out!!!

We had hanger steak, burrata toast, heirloom tomato salad, ricotta crostini, and lamb, and our guests were raving about the food all night. It felt like we were getting an actually amazing restaurant dinner at our wedding, which was really important to us. Angela, the event manager, was also amazing to work with throughout the whole process. She made everything feel so easy and was wonderful to have in our corner during such a huge and stressful thing to plan. I would recommend The Corson Building to any bride looking for a wedding venue. It was beautiful, the food was fantastic, and our wedding day felt so special there. We truly could not be happier with how everything turned out.

It was still very busy but it was a nice night and we dined on their patio. Our server was really sweet and well informed on the menu but we did have a delays in service, getting our check, paying for our meal, etc. Also, there was no note or congratulations from the staff to acknowledge our special occasion. For food we got the bread with feta dip, the tomato and nectarine salad, the pork shoulder and a fish dish I cannot remember much about. The bread was good and plentiful. We wanted just a side a bread but that didn't seem like something they could offer us so we got all of the components that came with it. The tomato and nectarine salad was so good. Just the right amount of punch from the cheese and well dressed and super fresh produce. The pork was also really amazing and a good portion. The fish dish I cannot remember much about but it was okay but nothing spectacular. We skipped on dessert since they were all fruit desserts and I am a chocolate gal through and through. Cocktails were very good. Overall this was a good meal in a cute spot but not our favorite place to go for a celebratory dinner. I'd come back but was a little put off that they didn't at least say "congrats".

A parking lot is available but can fill up quickly, depending on the size of your event and other activities that may be going on. There is an upstairs and downstairs but the hall itself is on the main level (or upstairs). On one side of the building, there is a lounge area near the bathrooms. It is a very clean, well kept space to sit and chill out away from the action. On the other side is the gathering hall. The hall itself has beautiful wood floors and large windows. If your event requires darker quarters, the shades can be drawn easily. Right where the windows are, there is a stage that covers the width of the hall. There are stairs all the way across and two accessible ramps up each side. The stage can fit a variety of needs and they have a podium and other tables that can be set up there, depending on your needs. I've been to most events where round tables are used. Other sets can be with chairs only. There is a sink on each side of the back of the hall as well as areas to hang coats, which I think is a necessity in Seattle. The staff is fantastic! They are flexible and easy to work with in order to meet your needs. I have to say that aside from having things set according to a floor plan, they recognize that it is possible you may have last minute changes and are very accommodating. Before you enter the hall, there is a hallway that can be set as a check-in area. I find that really helpful as people don't get clogged right inside the doors. If you're looking for a facility, you should consider NewHolly. They have tons of information on their website about cost and such. A great facility run by great people. Who could ask for more?

Industrial District

On our wedding priorities list-finding a venue that we loved, felt connected to, and fit our "vibe"…read more(we called it playful modern? Idk, lol) was the highest priority and the first wedding planning task we took on. We live in Seattle and wanted to get married in the city, and were drawn to industrial type venues. I think all in all we toured 15 venues across different Seattle neighborhoods-a handful in the Sodo neighborhood- and ended up choosing WithinSodo for it's versatility in space, it's already existing beauty (hint-budget brides- you really don't need much additional decor unless you really want it), the welcoming staff, the easy kitchen for caterers, its size being large enough for our group but small enough to still feel intimate (we invited 200, 140 showed) and the opportunity to have some outdoor space on our wedding day. Even before our wedding day, each time we waked into the WithinSodo space we felt butterflies, the energy is really something you can't see or touch but you can feel it and we loved it. While needing to use the in house bar at first felt like a con because it can be more expensive than doing it on your own-in the end became a pro as the ease of having everything taken care of by talented professionals (our drinks were amazing, the bar staff even worked with us to create a secret cocktail on the menu) was well worth it-and the cost was much lower than we expected given our friend group of happy drinkers. We just loved everything about spending our wedding day at within Sodo from the ambiance and the slow reveal of different rooms in the space and especially the rooftop dance party and we'll be forever grateful that we chose this space. Kate. We can't review WithinSodo without gushing about Kate, which feels truly evil because not everyone will get to work with her in the same capacity as we did. Sorry everyone. Kate is the venue representative but happened to be filling in for the on-site day of coordinator to plan and execute our wedding day while WithinSodo was going through a coordinator staffing change. However, we have to elaborate on how lucky we feel to have been placed with Kate and how lucky you'll be to have Kate play ANY part in your wedding day as part of the WithinSodo team. We were able to completely relax and enjoy our wedding day because Kate worked so hard and so efficiently leading up to it and the day of the wedding. Kate's astute attention to detail got us thinking about aspects of our wedding day that we hadn't even considered, and through the answers she gleaned from her thoughtful questions she knew exactly what was important to us and where we were more flexible. She got to know us, our story, and our hopes for the day so well and by the time the wedding day came we trusted her without reservations to solve problems, make decisions, and execute the best night of our lives so that we could be present. As a wedding client you have unlimited virtual or in person walk-through sessions at the venue as you're planning, and we found ourselves taking every opportunity possible not only to come see the space in person but to spend some time with Kate. Her professionalism is 10/10 but in a way that still leaves her completely approachable and fun to be around. Kate-we know that you moved mountains for us on and before our wedding day and we will never forget the love and care you gave to us. We just received a sneak peek of our wedding video and Kate makes a tiny appearance and our hearts bursted with joy when we saw this because she became so cherished in our wedding memories. While she was in the background making everything happen she was very much in the foreground of gifting us calmness, confidence, and reassurance on our wedding day. Thank you Kate we adore you!!

Oh, Seattle Design Center...so much potential as a wedding and large event venue. Yet, so poorly…read moremanaged. Let me explain. We had a beautiful wedding at the Seattle Design Center in May 2012--both the ceremony and the reception in the Atrium (the largest room). The venue is gorgeous--ridiculously high ceilings, full of skylights that bring in natural light, neutral tile flooring, a gorgeous grand staircase--part of the second floor balcony. The square footage is enormous and could easily hold 500 people if you wanted to. The BIGGEST PERK of the SDC: you can bring in your own caterer. That, and it's quite reasonably priced compared to other Seattle venues that would hold 200 or more people The biggest downside: the people who are supposed to be helping you plan your wedding in fact know next to nothing about the wedding business--they are managers at Molly's Salads, the daytime food cart! After booking the SDC officially in April 2011 (13 months before our wedding), our SDC "wedding coordinator" changed THREE TIMES. That meant we had to connect with the newbie each and every time to make sure they could accommodate some of our special needs, like having a small religious fire for our ceremony (don't ask). And also confirming (again and again) the rehearsal time and date, as well as where the bridal party would have space for changing and storing stuff. Needless to say, we had to be very proactive in dealing with the SDC and made sure to get everything in writing. They provided very little outside of signing the contract and some tables and chairs. If it had not been for our stellar wedding planners of Blue Ribbon, this event could never have happened. Thus, I am torn--the SDC is a stunning venue, but really needs to focus on event management and hiring people who know what they are doing.

I've booked two fundraising auctions at SDC, and am about to sign a contract on a third. As the…read moreother review mentioned, they had some turnover, but since last Fall there has been one person in charge of booking, Jenifer, and she is GREAT. The rest of their event staff, the people who are on-site managers during the event, are amazing, too: they helped us with everything from weird electrical stuff to dimming the lights for the video portion to moving stacks of chairs over and over as we got the tables set up, and stayed to the bitter end as our worn out staff and volunteers cleaned up (they clean up their own tables and chairs, we rented additional tables and catering-ware which we had to secure for pick up). Both of our events there looked stunning, and our constituents (who have been to many venues over the years) have only given us positive feedback on the move. Plus it's reasonably-priced AND has its own parking lot. I think this is one of the best venues in the city, and I look forward to putting on more events there in the future.
