We hosted a bat mitzvah party at Imperia. It was an incredible evening. We have only happy thoughts and memories. The company rented this place for our Christmas Party and it was a good time. The venue gave Gatsby vibes and had a great setup - coat check in, dance floor, booths, tables, bar and private parking (important for Seattle). I am not sure if the food was made by the internal chefs but it was f a b u l o u s! My favorite station was the Italian food assortment with the pesto pasta, buttered bread, and meatballs. Delicious! The bathrooms were beautiful (took a video) and did not come with a funky smell. Had a great time - perfect for a company party, wedding, any event! 10/10 read more

We ordered the "take out for 2 option", from LUC- got the shanks, mac n cheese & veggies. It was very easy to call in an order and everything was ready on time as promised. This by far has been the BEST family style take out meal we've tried since the stay-at-home order went in place. After touring and meeting with JJ and Tasia, we knew it was the place for us. * The staff were incredibly responsive and open to our questions throughout the whole planning process. A day of coordinator is also included, so that took a lot of stress/anxiety away. * The venue space is absolutely gorgeous and requires very little additional decor (if any). * Food was amazing (moist chicken)!! Our guests keep telling us how much they loved the food. LUC also made sure we actually got to eat by plating up appetizers and dinner for us. * So flexible. They provide a lot of amenities in-house (at super reasonable prices), but also allow you to bring a lot of your own stuff if you choose (alcohol, dessert, florals/decor). read more

Lake Union Café made every step of planning our wedding effortless and fun!! My husband and I booked a Friday night wedding and used their on site bakery and floral as well. We couldn't believe that booking the venue got us a day of coordinator as well! The LUC team was professional, kind and they put us at ease. I can be a bit of a stress case but the team fielded all of my questions and really made me feel so confident about our big day. Our favorite part of LUC was the layout of the venue. It was so beautiful and intimate. It made every guest feel like a they were a part of our ceremony. The candle package is, in our opinion, a must! The natural sunset light from the beautiful windows coupled with the numerous candles made for a truly spectacular backdrop. We would certainly recommend LUC to friends and family! read more

This is a bit of a late review, as my wife and I got married on December 2nd of 2017. However, I am writing this to give credit where it is due. Lake Union Cafe, in my wife's and my opinion, is the best place you could possibly get married. Lake Union Cafe is a 1920s-esque bakery that specializes in private events. Oh my lanta, this place lives up to what they promise. They offer in-house coordinators, food, floral and more. The venue is fantastic. My wife and I were a bit worried about capacity, but the size is one of their greatest assets. We fit 170+ people, and it was an intimate ceremony, and a lively reception. The food is incredible. When you book the date for your wedding, you are invited to an event where you can try out different menu combinations. This was a great way to select the meals that would be served during my wife's and my special day. As they are a bakery, they were also on point with our cake! We mostly worked with Tasia, who was absolutely incredible. She is very informative, helpful and made our wedding day so much easier. Though she had the night off of our wedding, she came in to help out and see that our big day went exactly as planned. We are so grateful! We LOVED working with LUC for our wedding! We were planning a wedding from across the country and Tasia made it seem like we were there throughout the entire process. She set up phone meetings, allowed my parents to come by and do a site visit, and even scheduled a special food tasting for when we were home for the holidays. Leading up to the wedding, Tasia and her team made it seem like we weren't even having really intricate planning phone calls--we were just casually chatting on the phone with our friends on a Tuesday night. Tasia kept track of every little detail, allowing us to spend the time leading up to the wedding focused on other things. The day of the wedding went absolutely seamlessly thanks to Tasia and her amazing team. Got married here on 2/24/18. Blown away by absolutely everything here. Tasia and JJ were amazing throughout the whole process and my wedding was a dream come true. Trying to find a black cake is a lot harder than you'd imagine. I'm so pleased with the outcome of the cake I ordered. I wanted a matte black cake with gold covering the top, and falling down. What I received was so much better than I envisioned. It was perfect, and taste so amazing. (Got the vanilla cake with Bavarian cream) Kevin was so easy to work with and really understood what I was going for! Thank you!! Kevin made my wedding cake and it was the best cake I've ever had. I just showed him a couple of cake decor ideas and was able to combine the elements from each picture to make one beautiful cake. He was able to deliver it to our venue in Issaquah for a reasonable fee. LUC provided us with a cake sample tray and picking out the flavor was one of the most difficult decisions I've ever had to make. The flavors were so rich and so amazing. We decided on the Chocolate Chip Raspberry Mousse. I highly recommend this bakery for your wedding cake needs, even if you're not getting married here. read more

We absolutely loved working with LUC for our wedding! We booked them about 10 months prior to our wedding. They walked us through every step of the process and were so helpful throughout the entire time. Tasia and JJ helped us plan our event, including key details, and were always extremely responsive to answering our many questions (particularly the week leading up to the wedding). The event ended up being seamless. They coordinated the entire event so well! The venue itself is beautiful - we had minimal decorations, and they let us borrow most of the equipment (staircase to hold name cards, table stand holders, picture frame holders, candles, you name it). We ordered our cake through the bakery (and they let us bring some of our own desserts too!), and we brought our own alcohol. The staff were incredibly kind as well - the bartenders, the kitchen staff, you name it. I wouldn't hesitate to use LUC for any type of event if I have to plan something in the future. read more

Wow, wow, wow. I was recently the maid of honor at a wedding held at LUC, and sure the wedding was beautiful, sure the food was great, set up was professional, venue was perfectly fitted, but when everything was said and done, the one thing I am still raving about is Dann the event coordinator. I've managed just a few events myself, but I've never had to deal with the terror of brides, bride's fathers, or the omgwtfbbq-crazed groom's moms. (Seriously, they are out of control these days.) Dann did so, and not only did so with grace and patience, but with a cast on his leg! He instantly put the entire wedding party at ease and he walked the dangerous line of keeping the reception schedule on track while also letting the newlyweds keep things very organic and low-stress. On top of this, somehow he managed to keep my type-A++++ best friend relaxed and confident for the 8 months leading up to her wedding. I couldn't even do that! Nicely done Lake Union Cafe. Lake Union Café was very accommodating to our schedules as we were planning our wedding reception out of state. We greatly appreciated their flexibility in having a private food tasting for us since we were not able to attend one of their quarterly food and cake tastings. They also sent us home with a cake sampling tray with all 13 flavors from their bakery. We were able to plan our wedding reception relatively stress-free as Lake Union Café managed the food, catering, serving set-up, the bartender, and assisted with managing the day-of timeline with our DJ. All the food is prepared onsite which provided us with hot and fresh food that was enjoyed by our guests. Also, we were able to bring our own alcohol to the venue as long as we purchased the Washington State Event Permit for $10. We looked at a lot of venues throughout Seattle and did not find a venue that provided a majority of the services onsite, which extremely helped with the planning. Even though there was some staff turnover during the early stages of our planning once Tasia was brought on board everything was seamless! She is an expert in the industry and provided us with her opinions on what would work best for the venue and our guests. Tasia was always very responsive to our questions and we never had to wait longer than 24-hours for a response. Somethings to know: - There is a minimum of 100 people for the venue and can hold up to 250 people, which may be tight - The venue is already very beautiful inside and honestly you need very little decorations which is a huge cost saver - We purchased the candle package and provided our own floral arrangements which turned out nicely - There is a medium sized parking lot for an additional fee that is a huge perk given the limited parking in Seattle - If you choose an outside bakery (not Lake Union Bakery) there is a $150 fee Overall, we were (and our guests) impressed with Lake Union Café! We had several of our guests comment how awesome the venue and food was! The BBQ pork shanks were the biggest hit! We would highly recommend this venue to anyone getting married. read more

We had both our ceremony and reception at the LUC. Choosing the LUC was BY FAR our best decision as far as actual wedding items go (and I think we made a lot of good ones.) Dann and Victoria are incredibly helpful and always available. They are calm and collected and help keep the atmosphere relaxed and fun. Dann was tremendously organized for both our rehearsal and on our wedding day and kept things moving along smoothly without being bossy. He also made sure that we ate (even threatening to check my plate to make sure I didn't leave anything behind). Dann also went the extra mile for my father who is oxygen dependant due to a heart condition, but who was adamant about not using it while walking me down the aisle. Dann helped by taking my dad's tanks just before we walked down the aisle and then sneaking them up to the front row w/o anybody seeing them. I heard a rumor that he practically crawled, but I've yet to confirm. The LUC is THE ONLY place I'd ever get married. Not that I'm planning to do it again. read more

They were awesome to work with and very laid back.... plus all of the vendors they suggested were a dream. The food was amazing and the venue itself is so unique... thus our choosing it as our wedding location, and the food was phenomenal. Still to this day I have people who still bring up what an awesome wedding we had. I don't think it would have been as good at any other venue. My wife and I feel truly lucky to have had a beautiful wedding that went off without a hitch, and a very large part of that is due to Dann, Victoria and the rest of the staff at LUC. Their help in preparation for the wedding was insightful and the coordination during the event was very professional and seamless. The food was very good. The beef medallions and butternut squash ravioli were excellent. The little bit of decorating that was needed was done tastefully and with detail. Overall, we couldn't recommend LUC enough. When you compare venues of similar caliber the price is right here, especially when you consider they throw in your very own "day-of" coordinator in Dann. (He's awesome) The ambiance was what we were looking for and the food was great. What else could you want? read more

From start to finish, everything about my experience with Lake Union Cafe was wonderful. I had procrastinated on ordering my wedding cake for my May 11th wedding until March 20th, and most bakeries ask for around 2 months' notice for a wedding cake. Before I called LUC and spoke to Victoria, I was brushed off by several bakeries. As I mentioned, I did wait until only 3 weeks before my wedding, so I understand why this happened. Victoria set up a cake tasting for us, showed us some snapshots of past cakes. We ended up going with a fairly simple cake, we provided ribbon to go around the base of the layers of cake. A very friendly young woman delivered the cake to our wedding venue, as well as artistically placing the fresh poppies we provided. Hubby and I have been married almost two years now, and I am still dreaming about that cake! read more

*sniffle*.....No, I'm NOT crying, I've just got something in my eye. It has nothing to do with the fact that I just saw the sweetest wedding ever at Lake Union Cafe on Saturday night.....*snuffle*... The decor was beautiful, and the space was utilized well. VERY cool ceiling fans from the 1860s that all run off a centralized belt driven system. Its not a huge space, but they make the most of it. The wedding ceremony was held in the middle section of the space, and afterward, the staff converted it into a dining area in less than 10 minutes. The pace was right, the staff was friendly. The food was served buffet style, and it was hot, tasty and plentiful. Bar tenders were friendly and helpful. Clearly a place run by professionals that have been at it a long time. We got married at the Skansonia in Sept 2012 and used LUC for our wedding cake. We were so happy with the entire process. We were unable to make their scheduled group tasting because we were going to be out of town and we were able to set-up an individual appt SO easily. We had a great time at the tasting, picked out our cake flavors and design, even got some great new ideas and that was it. When the date of our wedding got closer, I spoke to someone at LUC to confirm details regarding how to provide the flowers we wanted on the cake. She confirmed back our entire order, which matched our instructions from the tasting appt exactly. On the day of, the cake was delivered on time and it was so delicious!! We got rave reviews from all of our guests (we chose the red velvet which had a much better frosting than other red velvets I've had) and honestly, my husband and I wish we had gotten a chance to enjoy more of it! Oh and the best part, their pricing was so much more reasonable than other Seattle bakeries. We really feel like we got a tremendous value. read more

We got married at Lake Union Cafe on the 4th of July and it was absolutely a magical evening! They were able to take care of many key components - catering, desserts, and flowers - which was important because we were planning our wedding from out of town. The venue is very beautiful and requires few additional decorations, so we really didn't have to do much else. Best of all, we were able to walk down to a nearby park to watch the fireworks at 10:00pm. In terms of planning, our coordinators, Bethany and Amanda, were really great. There were a few communication errors along the way (partly because of some staff changes), but everything worked out very well in the end. They were also very flexible with some last minute changes, which we really appreciated. For instance, we made the decision to add some late-night post-fireworks karaoke a few days prior to the wedding and they worked with us to make it happen. Overall, I highly recommend LUC. My husband and I got married at LUC in late August of 2009. Getting down to it: I was a reluctant bride. I was deeply happy getting married, but the wedding part really stumped me--my early efforts at planning were time consuming and seemed really trivial. I'm practical, not particularly into decorating/flourishes/napkin rings, and most of all, I couldn't justify having our wedding with a caterer that charged $12pp for cold cuts. My mother was the one who pointed out that the LUC was all-inclusive AND affordable...and as she put it "It's got more of a masculine feel to the decor, it's not too feminine" (Translation: it's Art Deco, not Victorian). The interior of this venue is elegant and it's interesting enough on its own which meant that I didn't have to think about a lot of decorating. The venue can handle decorating very well, but stand-alone it's just as attractive. I opted for farmer's market flowers for color, and that's literally all the decor we added for the wedding. The service that Dann, Victoria and the LUC staff offer is excellent. They were happy to coordinate, answer questions and take care of all the planning that I found daunting. They're professional without being characterless, and though they have coordinated umpteen weddings and events, they treated my wedding as special. And Dann. He's on top of his game in this line of work, anticipating what's coming next, gently making suggestions, and not all up in everyone's business about it. The LUC staff are friendly and professional as well, and while I was readying myself in the bridal room, the staff had everything moving like clockwork (and had everything cleaned up afterward in no time). The food was great. We went for the "basic" option which was an entree, salad and side dish--included were elegant spreads of cheeses, breads, crackers and fruit. They have a knack for setting up a buffet style service in a way that is beautiful and appetizing. We ended up choosing fish, a mixed green salad with pears, and the (oh yumyumyum) Butternut Squash Ravioli--or as Victoria called it "But Nut Rav". The best part about the food: the lovely staff in the kitchen boxed up leftovers for us to take home. Since I was so busy during the meal at the wedding, I was able to sit back and really oink on the leftovers. They were delicious. For a reluctant bride, this was the best and most affordable choice. I did spend more on this venue than I originally intended when I started planning the wedding, however, I saved a lot of stress and planning time that was well worth the extra money. Compared to other all-inclusive venues, this was an even greater deal. And my mom and my husband's mom were able to enjoy the wedding day, too, instead of getting pulled into coordinating--which meant that once the last wedding guests were gone, the LUC staff got to work and had everything cleaned and spiffed up so everyone could go home. Five stars aren't enough for how we felt about our experience with LUC as a venue, wedding coordination, and a bakery. After a particularly terrible experience at another area venue, I reached out to a dozen other vendors. Lake Union Cafe came back with availability, an amazing customer service angle, and was able to accommodate our budget. From the time we first met with Tasia through our wedding day, we were well taken care of. Her attention to detail and quick response time were amazing. On the day of our wedding, she was my lighthouse and kept me calm when I started to worry, was on top of everything that we needed, ensured our glasses were always full and our food was always nearby. I am so grateful to her for making our day as perfect as possible, even when it came to accommodating some of my requests (like removing the Christmas tree so I didn't have Christmas wedding photos). Additionally, the bakery is TOP NOTCH. While neither of us really had more than a couple of bites of our cake, we knew from the tasting that it was incredible. All of the feedback we got from our guests indicates that they felt the food and cake were out of this world. We will definitely order a small cake for our one year anniversary so that we get to indulge and enjoy it. I sincerely hope to be invited to another function at LUC because I can't wait to go back. read more

I have been to way too many weddings by now and I often look upon them with a mix of fear and anxiety, anticipating mediocre food and complicated directions that get you lost between the church and the reception. The Lake Union Cafe eradicated both of my fears with a practiced swoop of the wedding coordinator's flamboyant arm. Dann is a godsend, a cross between a concerned mother hen and one of Bravo's Queer Eye brigade. His timing, style and suggestions are always spot-on and I would trust him with my own wedding, if this perennial bridesmaid ever decides to hitch her wagon to a new cowboy. The food was probably the best wedding food I've ever tasted, fresh and delicious, not innovative but darn good. The only downside was the bride's room in the basement, a freezing cold space that we determined needed further investigation by the Ghost Hunters or some other paranormal team. Really a tremendous experience all around..and thanks Dann, for regaling us with tales of former bridezillas, you kept us all amused as you repaired the bride's torn gown with your to-go bag of notions and razor-sharp wit. read more

I attended a wedding here last weekend. The couple were able to have their vow ceremony, buffet dinner and drinks, and reception all in the same space. The venue itself is very classy and charming! It features gorgeous art deco details (such as gorgeous chandeliers and wall sconces, metal ceilings, etc). There's a ton of tables and space for chairs for the reception area and can probably accommodate about 100 guests or so. The staffed seemed very professional and the wedding had good pacing. My only wish is that the DJ would have played more original songs (instead of the usual upbeat MJ and dance hits) but you can probably customize your own playlist. The buffet menu they provided was actually pretty good (cheeses, fruits, vegetables, salad, steak, shrimp pasta). I heard that the steak they had was excellent, though I didn't eat any myself. That kind of thing usually isn't great at weddings. The wedding cake was pumpkin chai flavor with vanilla buttercream frosting and was superb. I talked to many guests who wished they had grabbed a second slice because it was so good. Overall, a very good indoor venue for a wedding! read more

Lake Union Café made the cake for our 120 person wedding and everything turned out great. Felt their prices were in line for the Seattle area and they had lots of delicious flavors to choose from. Very surprising for me when I don't even usually like cake :). They had lots of seasonal goodies to add too for those interested in doing a dessert buffet instead of just a cake. Can tell they use better ingredients, everything tastes fresh. Also, we were told that instead of saving our cake top, they will make us a fresh one for our 1 year anniversary to celebrate.
