I had reached out to Almquist about holding our wedding in their beautiful space. I had to reach out via email, phone, and the Knot website before receiving a response. Not great, but not a deal breaker as I'm sure they are busy with inquiries. What was even more bizarre is that on Saturday they sent me their pricing which included capacity limits listing 250 ppl as the most (for full venue, including Barrel Room). On Monday when they responded again, I was told they only hold events with 60 or fewer guests and best of luck in my search. I guess I'm glad there was no need to pursue this further because this mess of communication would not bode well for planning any event, especially a wedding. read more

The venue is enchanting and perfect for a small wedding. Unfortunately, venue management is rude, dishonest, and very difficult to work with. Table Catering Co. has an exclusive catering contract and manages the Almquist venue. As long as Brooke and the Table team are managing Almquist, I would NEVER recommend it. It was clear early on that the venue's mismanagement was going to be an issue, but we loved the Almquist Winery so much that we decided to do everything in our power to make it work. We hired one of Almquist's "preferred" wedding planners in the hopes that they would have a positive working relationship. Unfortunately, as time went on our wedding planners repeatedly told us that Table's administrative practices were "horrendous" and "unacceptable". Eventually it got so bad that our planners (their PREFERRED planners) said they "were severing all future ties". Table did so many rude and unprofessional things that I can't name them all and stay in the character limits for this review. They didn't show up for scheduled meetings and tastings. They sent us invoices with an illegal additional 2.2% tax charge (King County tax rate is 10.25%. They tried to charge us 12.44%). After months of reaching out and working together (and Jenny confirming our date), they made us change the date of our wedding because they didn't want to book a Saturday for less than 80 people. After several rounds of invoicing from Jenny, Brooke added an additional $1,200 to our venue costs. Worst of all, a mere 20 days before our wedding, Brooke refused to honor our executed contract and tacked on an additional $1,000+. When we asked them to honor their written estimates and contracts along the way, their response was, essentially, if you don't want to pay the higher price then cancel your wedding because another bride will pay us more. As our wedding date got closer and they kept finding new charges to add to our invoices and signed contracts we felt extorted. We had to either pay their extra fees or cancel our wedding at the last minute. In total we paid $11,718.59 to Almquist/Table for a 30 person wedding on a Sunday evening. This broke down as follows: $400 for a 3 person tasting; $2,325.00 for 3 food stations and 3 Hors d'Oeuvres; $1,670 for service staff (1 bartender, 2 servers, and 3 chefs); $3,300 for the event space (greenhouse and restaurant); $250 for a cleaning fee; $870 in bar charges; $1,052.29 in taxes; and $1,851.30 in mandatory administrative fees. The mandatory administrative fees are described in the contract as "Admin fee includes all gratuity and service charges". Despite paying over $3,500 in wages and mandatory gratuities for 5 service staff, on the day of our wedding we received terrible service and the staff actively solicited additional tips from our guests. The bartender went so far as to put a tip jar front and center on the counter and place a $20 bill slung over the side to encourage our guests to tip more. It was incredibly tacky. read more

I just attended the best wedding of my life at Almquist Winery on Sunday! Everything was beautifully done. The grounds are lovely, with shade trees and a water view. The bar service was excellent, and the strawberry mimosas were fantastic! Appetizers were delicious: raw oysters, burrata bruschetta, and ube doughnuts. Brunch was served in the barrel room, which is a wonderful space. My only suggestions for improvement were with a couple of the brunch items. Caesar salad was exceptional, but the croutons were unusually hard (I had to avoid my temporary crown). Eggs Benedict was generally good; the eggs were perfectly cooked and the hollandaise was wonderful, but the English muffin was so tough that I couldn't saw through it with my butter knife. Seriously, like shoe leather. The sweet potato hash was very tasty, but it was brought out after everyone had finished their entrees, so most people didn't even bother trying it. The fresh fruit plate was fabulous. Still, despite these small flaws, Almquist WInery put on a near-perfect event! I highly recommend them for your next event. read more

I stumbled upon a photo of the Almquist Family Winery's beautiful glass greenhouse on Instagram. I had the photo saved before I was even looking for a wedding venue in Washington (we were originally getting married in California). Once we decided to get married in Washington, I knew I had to reach out to Almquist Family Winery first. Luckily they still had availability for October-December 2021. Almquist Family Winery has multiple options to host weddings and other events. They have a beautiful inside bar perfect for cocktail hour, outdoor space, wine barrel room, the greenhouse, and they even had a getting ready area upstairs. The greenhouse and indoor bar area was perfect for our intimate wedding. It was the perfect size that wasn't too awkwardly massive or cramped for the amount of people we had. We even had room for a small dance floor! The venue also had a good amount of parking spaces (included) and was in a great location with multiple photo spots to choose from. Note: When choosing Almquist Family Winery you will have to work with Table Catering Co. for Food and Beverage. The only slight issue we had was regarding communication (same issue with Table Catering Co. because it was the same contact point). The communication lacked at times and the contact person changed about 3 times in the 6 months we worked with them, but that also may be due to the hectic year that the Wedding Industry had in 2021. So although that is what we experienced, we tried to remain understanding. Overall, Almquist Family Winery was a beautiful wedding venue and we loved having our wedding there. Glad we discovered Almquist Family winery! It's a short walk from our house in Fremont and is a perfect 'getaway' in the city. Sip on a flight of wines and enjoy the delicious small bites. The chicken wings are really crispy and juicy and the burrata is another favorite. Super friendly staff and there's various spaces you can hang out in - outdoor in the picnic-y area, the green house, and multiple spaces inside. The staff said we could even bring over some board games and hang out when we have friends in town. Definitely check them out! read more

Fantastic place! I'm shocked it was not packed! Great wines , we tried both red and white flights and had a glass of our favorite. All the reds were fabulous! The Italians Red and Petite Syrah/Petite Verdot was up there. Now the whites, which I'm always apprehensive because I'm not a fan of oak in whites, well wow , there whites to me were luscious , fruity , great nose . I've gotta let people know! The food was yummy. Not a large menu, which I liked, my husband liked that there were wings, which was really good. A bit of island influence. We had truffle popcorn, burrata, pork skewers, and wings. One star less because the skewers were small , great flavor though. The views and ambience is so awesome in here, That's why I'm shocked on a weekend it's not crammed. We've all been to mediocre wineries in a warehouse with no food. Right here by the water, next to a walking path, near a college hides a gem to drink wine! Sorry I just don't read yelp that often. Seattleites gotta get in here! read more

Chomp!! Super cute winerie meet former favorite restaurant place? it's an absolute perfection!! I love how hidden this place is and also not that hidden. They have a wine room, a restaurant, stunning atrium room and an outdoor room surrounded by the barrels. They also have a barrel room of course and you can see it via the restaurant. Beauty all around. You can bottle your own wine, come for a tasting or do a little get together! We came for a tasting and had their very light yet very dry rose. It's from pinot region of Oregon but it is not what you may expect it to taste. They also have cab, white and reisling. Their wine list is pretty big. Their menu has appetizers and warm dishes like bone marrow, smoke cod and handcut fries and so on. Perfect to accompany any wine of your choosing. The staff is quite friendly here too. One can come in and just melt all the troubles away with a glass or three :) They also bottles for restaurants! You can get your own lable and so on. Friendly people, beautiful space and good wine? Really beautiful space, great ambiance, wonderful service, and delicious wine. After reading a review from a couple months ago I felt inclined to review this place myself. Their hours are listed on yelp, google, and Facebook. (And probably on their website too, I just haven't looked). It doesn't seem fair to shred someone's ratings just because they didn't happen to be open when you wanted them to be. Behind every independent restaurant, winery, brewery, or cafe is a person or a group of people who are working their tails off so that the public can enjoy themselves. Reviews make a big difference for a small business, and can really effect the people behind the business. read more

We were here on vacation and stumbled upon a true diamond in the rough. Overall great ambience, customer service, food, and drinks! The manager, Sam, took us on a little tour of the winery. The food was amazing and the wine was perfect. I had the Rosé and my fiancé had the Raven's Petite. The chef, Leinani, made us the fried chicken with a guava BBQ sauce, clams with Portuguese sausage, and shave ice dessert! Thank you so much for a great experience. I went to the Almquist Family Winery to a trade show, "Seattle Made Food + Beverage Connection", by invitation of Yelp. I'm basing my star rating on the winery itself, particularly as a venue for events like this one. But I'm including quite a bit about the trade show here too, because that gives a feel for what kind of work the winery had to do to host the event. My first impression was the parking situation. They have a private lot, but it's not very large. There's some street parking, but it was pretty busy too. The office park just to the west is available in evenings, but I arrived during business hours so that wasn't an option. I ended up parking on Etruria Street in the middle of the long block between Warren and Queen Anne Avenue. It was an easy walk in good shoes and good weather, but it would have been a drag in rain. As part of checking in, I received two drink tickets for the winery's wine. (A few exhibitors had drinks too.) I looked at the three wines Almquist had out for the event: a chardonnay, a pinot noir rose (!), and a red blend of sangiovese and a grape I didn't know. Since I rarely like chardonnay and have had mixed results with red blends, I went for the total unknown. The pinot noir had a broader mix of flavors and scents than my sensory skills can sort out; it's a complex wine. I found it intermediate between dry and sweet, but my taste may have been thrown off by the foods I sampled. I liked it, but not enough to buy at the $20 show special price. Later in the show, I returned to use my second ticket. I decided to try the red blend, but on a whim I asked for a taste. No problem! I liked it, but not as well as the pinot noir, so I got a second glass of that. Much praise for the friendly server. So, how was the venue as a place for events? I'd say that other than the daytime parking situation, it's pretty good. The space that was open for this event included: - the main floor room, with a squarish entry space at the west end (good for checking in), a long bar along much of the north side, a narrow space between the stairs up and the bar, and a broader space past the stairs; - an enclosed patio room west of the entrance, somewhat longer than wide; - an open-roof patio south of the enclosed patio; and - an upstairs room that seemed a bit smaller than the main floor room. Put together, that space comfortably housed the show's exhibitors, allowing uncrowded access to their displays. The space looks like it would work well for a lot of types of events: office parties, wedding receptions, trade shows, and so forth. The web site describes the amount of space available, but it presents the information in an annoying slide show format; if I were planning an event I'd e-mail them and request a brochure instead of trying to take notes from the slide show. So, that's my four-star impression. The rest is a description of this specific event, to give an idea of how the space was used when I was there. I visited most of the exhibitors, but left a few out of my notes (such as the coffee vendors, since I'm not a coffee drinker, heresy though that may be in Seattle). - Laguna Pasta had very tasty fresh pasta, dressed only with olive oil. - Comfort Baking had yummy cookies. - Honest Biscuits had several types of biscuits; I liked all but the non-gluten. - Pike Seattle Brewing had a yummy "Kilt Lifter" barbecue sauce, rather than showing off their brews. - Copper Works Distilling sampled a whiskey that smelled wonderful but seemed ordinary to my tastes. - La Liath Bakery had something called the Earl Grey tea loaf, which I liked. - 3 Howls Distillery had samples of their Backbeat Bourbon, which was so good that I bought some on the way home; although it cost about four times as much as my usual cheap stuff, it was still a bargain. - nuflours sold non-gluten products that tasted a lot better than most non-gluten stuff; their rum sweet potato cake was particularly tasty. - PCC Farmland Trust had samples of their Powers cabernet, which was pretty good but probably would have improved with age; they also had brochures about their farms, which I may want to visit. - Unsweetened Tooth sampled a fudgy brownie with peanut butter mint mousse, made with no-calorie sweetener and tasted as good as regular sweets. - Choice Organic Tea had samples of a very good Earl Grey. - King Cacao had samples of several toasted cacao beans; they suggested Chocolopolis as a place to buy them. - Villa Jerada had a variety of tasty Moroccan treats. - The Kitchen Imp had spices, but I don't remember which I sampled. Most exhibitors had booths that looked about five or six feet wide, maybe three feet of table depth, and space for their people behind. The place didn't look crowded, even with the twenty or more booths. read more

I give it a 4 star because the view in the attic tasting room was spectacular. We had our tasting for free because we had our dinner down stairs at BB. Too bad the winery was not open at the time we got there. We didn't get to taste their famous petite verdot, but opt for their Granache, Cab, Syrah, CAB FRANC WEINBAU, and Griffin. I believe it is $5 for a regular 5 mix and match tasting, but free if you are eating down stairs. Do buy your wine at tasting, because it does cost more down stairs. I would come back for the BYOB event, where me and my friends can mix our own wine and have our custom label printed on our own bottle. Food will be an added bonus while getting our wine creation. I'll do that on my birthday next year, and also stop by at BB for some tasty food. read more

We hosted a bridal shower in the greenhouse. The view, service and space was gorgeous. We loved the Chardonnay and Rose. Ben, the bartender was perfect. The chef delivered fried chicken, a new dish to us. It's a perfect space for an intimate affair. Bring your own speaker for music, only miss. And we thought they were open pst 9---double check the hours. Loved it all! read more

Amazing Bridal Shower setting! The setting was bright, the food was fantastic, and the staff was top notch. With the rain coming down the entire day, this location was perfect for the bridal shower I hosted. Inside the garden room felt like being outside, it was light and bright. The staff worked with me to arrange a menu that fit all our needs. They also recommended an amazing florist and bakery. I would highly recommend them for your next event! read more

The place had promise. The location is nice. They had recently received grapes and vats were full of crushed grapes. What more could you want? And then we tasted the wine... oh well. Fair to say the wine did not measure up to the price. I would think the wines they featured in flights would have focused on wines meant to leave you with a favorable impression. So perhaps the staff could at least talk about the wines with some knowledge and enthusiasm. When asked where the grapes were sourced for the red I was drinking, the response I got was "Eastern Washington", further indicating that they make over 40 wines. Maybe they should focus on doing a few...well. So, if I were going to have an event there I would bring my own wine. read more

We hosted my sister's bridal shower in the greenhouse at the winery for 22 ladies and it was absolutely perfect! Great/convenient location in Queen Anne with plenty of parking. An overall gorgeous setting just off the canal, tons of trees and the greenhouse completes the secret "garden" ambiance/theme. LOVE IT. Sam was super flexible and helpful during the entire process - on the day of, we had caterers show up before the designated time and without any hesitation, she handled it and opened the doors at 8am on a Saturday! Great service, the perfect flexible-use space for nearly any event (indoor or out) and awesome wine (we walked away with a case of Rose and Chardonnay - yum!)...will be back this fall to host a company event for sure! read more

We had our summer wedding at the Almquist and everything was absolutely perfect. The space is magical and leaves so many options -- we had our ceremony in the grass by the canal (which was awesome with boats driving past), dinner/drinks in the beer garden and restaurant/bar inside, dancing in the greenhouse (beautiful with open doors/pretty lights), and yard games in the grass. It is a great space for letting everyone find exactly what they want to do whether that's to relax or bust a move! And the space is so beautiful that it doesn't need a lot of decorations (big plus for me!). The Almquist is the only place like it that we could find in the city, which was important to us since we had a lot of out of town guests. We worked with Sam throughout planning, and she made everything so, so easy. After seeing friends stressed out about wedding planning, we kept thinking that maybe we were missing something because it went so smoothly :) This was largely thanks to Sam for doing such an amazing job! I'm so excited that we live nearby so we can stop in all of the time for the awesome wine and think back to our special day. Definitely recommend checking out the space for any event! read more
