After spending seven months on the hunt for the perfect wedding venue, I was ready to give up. I'm…read morenot going to lie, I am picky; I specifically wanted a large, open, indoor space with natural light, and minimal furnishings - ultimately, a blank canvas. Just something neutral, classy, and easy to work with my vision for my wedding. Apparently I was asking too much, because every other typical wedding site was $3000+ to rent, required you to use their vendors (boooo), had hideous carpet or tapestries, or their coordinators liked to ignore me. Then, in a final search of desperation, I found a link to Great Hall at Green Lake. It was meant to be. Nelda was super prompt in responding to me (major cookies and points here), friendly, and didn't just want to throw numbers at me. My fiance and I scheduled a tour of the place and Nelda showed us every nook and cranny, and was more than happy to answer all of our questions. Very reasonable rental prices (in comparison to all the other wedding venues out there) and Nelda is very up-front about any optional/additional costs. I am not a bridezilla, but I do expect a professional attitude and level of interest from someone acting as a vendor on one of the most important days of my life, and I am happy to say that thus far, the communication process and tour of the space has been perfect; I cannot wait to have my wedding here next spring, and I will surely return with another review.

This is a beautiful, simple venue. My now husband and I decided to get married here because we…read moreloved the flexibility in being able to hire our own caterers and other vendors. I also really liked that it got a lot of natural lighting in the building. We initially wanted an outdoor wedding but being in Seattle, that was too much of a risk to take even in the month of August. We were initially concerned that it would be too hot and that we would need to rent air conditioners but it was pretty cool outside that day so we did not need to. They also had some large portable fans on the stage if needed but we did not need them on our wedding day. The staff was very hands-off. We scheduled a tour twice and sometimes it seemed like they were not expecting us. I think it was because someone was on their way out of the job and some things needed to be communicated. They were very flexible about letting us come in to look at the place for a second time with our wedding coordinator and set out chairs and tables to see what it would be like, they basically left us alone and said we could leave whenever we were finished. They have one larger room upstairs to be used as a bridal suite, and then one smaller room downstairs that seemed too small to be a second bridal suite. I ended up letting the groom/groomsmen get ready in the main, larger bridal suite, then us ladies got ready at my friend's house, and then we told the guys to leave when we were on our way and that worked out pretty well. I had about 120ish people at my wedding and it was pretty tight when the tables were out, like my husband and I could barely walk across to get to our table and people had to stand and scoot in. During there ceremony, it was perfectly fine. The main thing that was an issue for me is that they do not have a dumpster that we could use and expected us to haul our own trash out after the wedding reception. They charged quite a lot of money if we were to leave trash for them to dispose of. I think that was the most stressful part, and they also said that we can't dump garbage in the neighboring dumpsters. This was the only reason for me taking off one star. Otherwise, I loved this venue for my wedding!

I attended a friend's wedding reception this weekend at Greenwood Square. The building is on the…read morecorner of 85th and Greenwood. The building is shared with The Upper Crust Catering, which has its own page on Yelp. The first floor of the building is the catering kitchen and the second floor is the event space. This is from the perspective of someone who attended an event there, but wasn't involved with any of the planning or coordination, so I can't speak to that aspect. I enjoyed the feel of the space. It is a building from the 1920s and has a sort of "classic ballroom" type of feeling, classy without being pretentious or trendy. I liked that the restrooms were right off the main dining area and didn't require a long trek to find. It's a good medium-sized space, not tiny but not huge either. There's a little side room where the food is served out of, and an open dance floor space towards the back of the room. At this event, catering was provided by Upper Crust and it was a vegan dinner. The food was flavorful and filling; I enjoyed it despite not being vegetarian or vegan. It was served buffet style and there were a number of options, including quinoa pilaf, pad thai, a potato dish with a vegan roast, watermelon with balsamic dressing, a salad with crispy noodles, and possibly one or two other things that I am forgetting. Instead of cake, they opted to have peanut butter and jelly bars for dessert that had a sort of crumble topping. I think the quinoa was my favorite. Overall, I would recommend the space UNLESS you need a wheelchair accessible venue. Being an older building, it doesn't conform to today's accessibility standards. There's no elevator to the second floor, and the restroom is very tiny and I don't think a wheelchair could fit in there. Also, if you want your event catered, you will need to use Upper Crust since the building is owned by them and they have an exclusive partnership, so it's probably not the best choice if you have your heart set on a different caterer.

I want to tell you all about it, but I wont. The anticipation of not knowing was probably made it even better! Our biggest uncertainty beforehand was how much, if any, parking was available. It turns out that they have access to a garage behind the mansion, and there was a person welcoming us at the entry to the garage, giving us instructions on getting to the pedestrian entrance and a sheet of paper with the code for the lock. The exit door could have been better labelled, but that was the only glitch. The venue itself is lovely, looking very much like I imagine it did when it was built in the early 20th century. The caterers were amazingly efficient, both in serving drinks and hot appetizers on the veranda, and in reconfiguring the main room from the ceremony to a sit-down dinner while drinks were being served. This was a great location, enhanced by caterers who clearly knew what they were doing.

I had met Chad several times at a friend's gatherings, and decided to employ his services to help…read moreme find a home to purchase before it got to the point where I wouldn't be able to afford one in or around Seattle. From day one, he was on top of his game. He understood from our conversations what type of home and where I was interested in purchasing, and sent me listings specifically tailored to my preferences. Every single house I looked at and liked, and was possibly interested in making an offer on, he also wanted to see it. And I relied heavily on his experience of structuring very competitive offers in Seattle's very tough market. The house I purchased recently I had seen briefly at an open house on a Saturday or Sunday, and had quickly discredited it because of its large size and exceptional interior quality. I thought for sure it would sell for much more than I would ever be able to afford. The following Wednesday it was still listed, however, I was in Iowa on business. I called the listing agent and she confirmed it was still listed, and that the sellers had not had any offers. I quickly called Chad and asked if he could get in to see the house as I was possibly interested in making an offer. He didn't hesitate, and left his office and went straight to see the house. He confirmed what I already knew about the home, and we talked the details of the offer I was going to make. Within just a few hours, and some back and forth of signing documents electronically, I was in contract to purchase the home. Chad made the entire process extremely easy and very comfortable. He made himself available to communicate at all times of the day and night. He was committed to me purchasing the right home at a fair price. He also referred me to a lender, someone he has worked with over the years and trusts, who also made the transaction of purchasing a home painless and transparent. And to top it off, he had a home and sewer inspector at the home just 1.5 days after the seller accepted my offer. Thank you, Chad! It was truly a pleasure working with you.

Indeed, you might find that after she helps you find the dream place to buy or rent you are looking for, that you've also found a new friend as well! She is truly not happy until you are happy, and I truly feel she is an absolutely genuine person who is in this to actually help people, not just make a sale. I was introduced to Rebecca when I was desperately trying to find a place to call my own away from the bland, white-walled, noisy apartments I'd been living in far too long. Originally I was looking to purchase a place, and Rebecca was AMAZING in helping me scout out so many great possibilities. She truly went above and beyond to hook me up with showings on my weird schedule, and to walk through each property and discuss not just the pros but also the cons of each one. She did not ever push me to consider a property that didn't actually suit my needs just to try to get my on track to buy. In fact, she was first to point out what didn't meet my wants and needs in a property several times. That's just priceless in a real estate professional! Rebecca found not just one, but two properties that I was seriously interested in buying and would have suited my needs fabulously. I was literally right about to jump on my favorite of the two when her help, support, and positive energy actually directed me into the path of an even MORE terrific opportunity. I was content to buy either of the great properties we found outside the city that fit in my buying budget. However, I actually ended up with a better deal for my personal needs with a long term condo rental literally in my very favorite area of West Seattle on Alki Beach. For my specific personal circumstances, and how much I absolutely love living in West Seattle, this actually ended up being the most perfect solution I could have dreamed up. I absolutely credit Rebecca entirely for getting me there! So if you are considering buying or renting, or even just want to talk to someone about the possibility of looking - I absolutely recommend Rebecca in every regard. She's a consummate professional, but also a lovely and decent human being. Not only will she work hard as hell to find you exactly the home you need and want, but she will do it with care and integrity. I am so glad she was recommended to me, and I highly recommended her onward to all my friends!
