Recently I was in Sunset visiting my sister. She had not had the pleasure of experiencing Thai,…read moreVietnamese or Korean cuisine. From Yelp reviews, we started the gastronomic adventure with lunch at Pad Thai. After a pleasant meal, I inquired as to where I could locate an Asian grocery store. The lovely lady tending us directed us to Z World Express. It took a couple of passes up and down Main street looking at both ends of the RV lot we were directed to look for before spying the brick building with red white and blue sign. Not much to see from the outside, no hint that groceries are there, but on inside, jackpot!! This place is packed floor to ceiling with tiny aisles you have to squeeze through. There is a nice representation of Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, and some Indian selections. There are several chest freezers filled with a plethora of frozen seafood. The back wall is a bank of coolers with a nice selection of fresh veggies, Fresh Pho Noodles, and other tasy treats. I picked up Tom Yum soup base, Masaman Curry Paste, coconut cream, Thai Tea, instant Pho broth, Mabo Tofu sauce and a nice selection of snacks. Prices are actually a little less than what I am used to paying in Seattle, another nice bonus. The owners were very engaging and very helpful. They directed us to Best Teriyaki for a Korean fix, which turned out to be spot on. Good service, excellent selection of foods, definitely a hidden gem

Hey, so did you know the greatest brick-and-mortar hot sauce shop now has an online outlet? In case…read moreyou didn't feel like driving up to Ogden to peruse this one (which you should still do anyway). Well, yes indeedy, Roger has the site up and active and it's one of the neater things online, if you like hot sauce that is. You can find it at www dot burn your tongue online dot com (remove the spaces, unless Yelp updates the URL, in which case you can follow it more readily there). Also, I heard there is a secret code that can find on my hot sauce blog that may do really neat things when you plug it into the cart at checkout. As for this place, one day I will browse the shelves with 700+ sauces on them and not come away with a good couple dozen sauces at a throw...but that day won't be anytime soon. There are also nifty spicy snacks, if you're more into those. Either way, check it out online or in store. Absolutely fantastic still!

If you like hot sauce, this is the place to go. You may have seen walls of hot sauce in the past,…read morebut these guys have walls of individual columns of hot sauce in their wall. What does that mean? Well instead of having the same flavor take up a ton of space like most places, these guys fit nearly 500 flavors into their space. It's crazy. I thought I was fairly fluent in hot sauce brands (I've got around 30-40 bottles at home), but these guys taught me how young I am. I spent a bit of time just appreciating the wall before really digging in and trying to figure out how to explain to my wife that I needed at least 3 more bottles of hot sauce. We settled on 2 bottles and then I got 4. The owner was there and was great to talk with. He made a lot of good recommendations. I ended up getting the Carribean Reef Shark Scotch Bonnet sauce, the CaJohns Serrano sauce, the Ghost Scream, and an Irazu Volcanic Pepper Sauce. The prices were reasonable, and I also got some discount from The Quilted Bear for Memorial Day. Anyone that is in to hot sauce should make it a point to stop here. If you're still wasting your time on that Cholula, Tapatio, or...heaven forbid...Tabasco, you should do yourself a favor and stop by here. They also do tasting on some Saturdays and seem to be active at various events/farmer's markets, so if you have a chance to meet them there, it's worth it.

They had a ginormous chair we could take photos in, so we took full advantage of that :) This little store is chuck full of food and items made locally. They have produce, candy, ice cream, soda, beer, lotions, coffee, dog treats, decor and everything in between. In the back they have a vending machine where you can buy Bingham Custom Meats bacon bombs. We haven't used it yet, but it looks so awesome! The employee there was a rockstar! She helped us figure out our candy bouquets and made them look awesome! The kids absolutely loved them and I think we're going to need to do this again. Maybe the husband and I will get one for ourselves too next time.
