So, we try to shop local, both to ensure peak freshness and the highest ethical standard we can. Better Food Farm is a local, Ogden-based family farm using organic practices. We were lucky to try a large haul of a variety of their leafy greens (including herbs, spinach, red leaf lettuce, salad spring mix, spring onions, bok choy, and the most vibrant gorgeous radishes you've ever seen) this past week. If you think you won't be able to taste the difference between their spring mix and the kind in the plastic clamshells you get at the store, you'll be in for a serious surprise. Everything was incredibly flavorful. Also, there's something about fresh radishes that "conventionally" grown radishes can never live up to (I put conventional in quotes because, well, according to history, modern growing practices are anything but conventional). I swear you can taste all the passion and care this family puts into their produce. In speaking with the family behind this little farm, they're going to be at the Salt Lake City Farmers Market so I recommend that you look for them there.

Instead, I left without buying a thing. The woman working there, who I believe may be the owner, had an incredibly cold and dismissive attitude. Every time I asked her a question, she would stare at me for several seconds with this puzzled, almost irritated expression, as though I had asked something completely unreasonable. Then she'd give me a short answer while already turning away or walking off. I was genuinely confused by the interaction. I couldn't tell whether she was annoyed that I was asking questions, unfamiliar with the customers she was serving, or simply didn't want to be bothered. What made it especially strange was the complete lack of warmth. Middle Eastern hospitality is usually the kind of thing you notice immediately, and this felt like the exact opposite. I wasn't expecting a red carpet or a three-course meal. I was simply trying to introduce myself, ask a few questions, and hopefully become a regular customer. I actually called afterward to explain why I left without purchasing anything. If making customers feel unwelcome is the business strategy, it certainly worked on me. If you're looking for a welcoming, old-world Middle Eastern shopping experience, this isn't it.

My daughter was very young and very close to my mom, and I thought it might make her feel better if I got her a small corsage (since her brothers would be wearing flowers as pallbearers). I knew they had flowers so I thought I'd ask. That's when I learned that they do them all the time for dances, weddings, and yep - funerals. They made it small and pretty and it was perfect. They even cut me a discount because it was small. My daughter loved it. We dried it and she still has it in her keepsakes. So ever since then I have gone to them for all of my son's dance corsages. They let me pick what I want and they will bring all of the ribbons on a specific color out for me to choose what I want. One time it didn't turn out how I wanted, there was a confusion on the instructions. They were very kind and even though she was so busy getting all of her dance orders finished she took the time to make me a new one while I waited. The price is decent, they are generally $25 for a corsage unless you want extras, and they will do matching boutonnieres. This is cheaper than I've found from a few nearby florists and they really do a good job. They appreciate orders ahead of time, but the florist told me she always makes a few extras in dance days to keep in the display fridge for those last minute kids. :) I really like this florist. The flowers are easy on those high school kids' wallets, and they do a great job. I highly recommend them!

There was a wide variety of vendors, from honey, to fresh meat, to bread, to plants for gardening and all sorts of clothing, jewelry, pet treats, and art. There's also activities and event booths for the outdoorsy community, and LOADS of food trucks. You truly can find anything here and it's reasonably priced. I went a bit early (~8am) and it was pretty busy already. I just parked for free up the street and had no issues walking to the market. There was free water offered and plenty of places to sit in the shade if you needed. Theres live music up and down the street. Lots of people bring their dogs! I really loved this market. I cant wait to come back, the shops that line the street looked interesting and I want to pop into a few next time.

After I filled the basket with peaches, an employee told me it was "too high" and removed several peaches without asking me first. What bothered me most was not the policy itself, but the way it was handled. If there is a limit to how full the basket can be, I would have appreciated that being explained before I filled it, or at least being asked whether I still wanted to purchase the basket after peaches were removed. I ended up paying the full $28 for significantly fewer peaches than I had originally selected. I understand that costs have gone up and that businesses need to set limits, but clear communication and good customer service go a long way. I've enjoyed shopping here for years, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. I hope this feedback helps improve communication with customers in the future.
