a front porch decorated for halloween

This was a fun little place to buy pumpkins (and gourds) for painting for Halloween. The kids (ages 13, 12, 11, & 5) all had a fun time finding their perfect pumpkin. I like the wide variety of shapes and sizes they offer. We will definitely be back every year.

Beat pumpkin patch ever. $5 includes hayride pulled by a large tractor and then you can pick any size pumpkin. The fields are full of hundreds of large pumpkins. Staff is super friendly. Appreciate supporting a local family farm.

Great farm & market. My family comes every year to get our pumpkins from here. You get a hayride right out to the pumpkin patches, and get to pick out your own pumpkin from thousands! It's super fun, and a Halloween tradition for our family! Sooooo much better than picking up your pumpkins from the grocery store! (BOoOo!)

I saw on…read moreFacebook that they were doing some really cute valentine candy bouquets, so we decided to pick some up for our kids. First, there was a really fun photo op outside. They had a ginormous chair we could take photos in, so we took full advantage of that :) This little store is chuck full of food and items made locally. They have produce, candy, ice cream, soda, beer, lotions, coffee, dog treats, decor and everything in between. In the back they have a vending machine where you can buy Bingham Custom Meats bacon bombs. We haven't used it yet, but it looks so awesome! The employee there was a rockstar! She helped us figure out our candy bouquets and made them look awesome! The kids absolutely loved them and I think we're going to need to do this again. Maybe the husband and I will get one for ourselves too next time.

However, much of the products that our local grocers stock may also carry implications of poor farming practices. So, we try to shop local, both to ensure peak freshness and the highest ethical standard we can. Better Food Farm is a local, Ogden-based family farm using organic practices. We were lucky to try a large haul of a variety of their leafy greens (including herbs, spinach, red leaf lettuce, salad spring mix, spring onions, bok choy, and the most vibrant gorgeous radishes you've ever seen) this past week. If you think you won't be able to taste the difference between their spring mix and the kind in the plastic clamshells you get at the store, you'll be in for a serious surprise. Everything was incredibly flavorful. Also, there's something about fresh radishes that "conventionally" grown radishes can never live up to (I put conventional in quotes because, well, according to history, modern growing practices are anything but conventional). I swear you can taste all the passion and care this family puts into their produce. In speaking with the family behind this little farm, they're going to be at the Salt Lake City Farmers Market so I recommend that you look for them there.

I'm currently obsessed with these turnips. They are juicy... sweet... buttery? Yup. Buttery. Careful, you might have a hard time going to the grocery produce section after this.
