As a parent of twins with developmental disabilities, I understand the importance of attendance. I also understand the reality of managing multiple therapies, medical appointments, school meetings, and life. Over time, repeated conversations about missed appointments, attendance reminders, and signing attendance acknowledgments left me feeling judged instead of supported. The final straw was accidentally leaving one week off a summer scheduling form, which led to another conversation about attendance. It wasn't about that one incident--it was the realization that this philosophy simply doesn't align with how I believe families of children with additional needs should be treated. The clinicians were wonderful, and the front desk staff were always professional and kind. My disappointment lies with leadership and the culture created by these policies. Families seeking pediatric therapy need partnership, empathy, and flexibility. Unfortunately, that wasn't our experience, and we chose to take our children elsewhere.

We finally got a good match and they "switched departments". Then they started saying I had to move my time due to scheduling conflicts even though we had waited 2 years to get the time slot we had. We got moved with a new SLP and I complained that they kept canceling and rescheduling. I can only assume they were double booking so instead of taking accountability for their poor planning, they decided to discontinue services simply because i advocated for my daughter. They dont seem to care about the children, they just want their paycheck

But I made a promise to the staff at La Casa Via that I would share our experience, and I wanted to make sure I followed through. My parent was recovering from a broken hip and was in a very vulnerable, emotional state throughout the stay. Between dealing with pain, a language barrier, feeling tearful and overwhelmed, and having a lot of hesitation around medications, it was a stressful situation. The staff showed exceptional patience. The wound care nurse was remarkably skilled, the attending doctor was attentive, and the CNAs and nursing team handled the emotional stress and hesitancy with real care rather than frustration. Cat in administration was also very understanding and helpful with the logistical side of things whenever I had questions. The rehab industry as a whole has plenty of room for improvement and faces major systemic challenges, but the five stars here go to the staff on the ground. Despite the inherent difficulties of the system, this team worked through every obstacle with us and provided very good care. I am grateful for their support and would recommend them to anyone needing post-surgery rehabilitation.

My mom has made friends and Cam has facilitated transportation when we needed it. Cam is also accessible anytime I have questions or requests. It's not a fancy place but my mother is comfortable. The food is just ok, but they are happy to make my mom a tuna sandwich if she doesn't care for the hot meal. When I was told a few years ago that I had two hours to choose a skilled nursing facility I jumped in my car and quickly toured a few. I chose La Casa Via where my grandmother stayed several years ago as well. I give this facility 5 stars not for being perfect but because this type of care is very hard and the facility is clean as well as the care and attention I mentioned above.

She has worked with him on many levels and is always very attuned to his energy, supporting him in just the right way so he can be and feel successful. The work they do at PlaySpace looks so fun my other children asked if they, too, can have OT. But its not just fun, Debra gets results! Our school OT complemented her work saying she could see the difference Debra was making shining through. I asked my son to give Debra a yelp review too. He says: Debra is really good. She never gets mad at you when you make a mistake. She just helps you along with really hard stuff until you've done it. She has a bean pit. You'll love it.

Debra and Karin are very knowledgeable, experienced, and caring therapists, who are exceptionally good at making OT fun and something my son gets excited about going to. Over the course of our time with them, my son has developed out of his repetitive behaviors, his sensory issues have diminished significantly, and as a result, his ability to learn, attend, communicate, and engage socially have improved quite dramatically. I really credit Debra and Karin and the tools they have given us to help him at home, for this transformation. Debra has also been a helpful part of our IEP process and made important recommendations to the team supporting him in school. I highly recommend PlaySpace to anyone who is looking for an excellent OT in the area.

Nan's particular talent lies in using her occupational therapy skills to help children meet physical challenges with newfound emotional tools. This process will assist your child in modifying maladaptive coping skills. I highly recommend trying OT behavioral modification for young boys, prior to outpatient treatment with a child psychologist. Asking a young boy to sit still in a chair and talk about his feelings is a challenge in and of itself, much less a kid who physically cannot remain calm. Most private insurance covers this treatment. Unfortunately, I had Kaiser insurance and had to pay out of pocket. Nan's rates are not prohibitive however, and ten sessions could easily transform your challenging son into the precious young man, you are determined to reach.

I'm familiar with their curriculum and teaching style so I became a proponent of their establishment and mission statement. You'll find other places trying to emulate their curriculum but because their curriculum is trademarked, nothing compares. Also, Ross and Brian are both OTs, so they're very knowledgeable in anatomy and physiology -- meaning, they understand the human body and its mechanisms. My son is now a Sponge and I see significant improvements with his fine and gross motor skills including but not limited to handwriting and cutting. He is ergonomically holding pens/pencils and scissors properly. Also he's got excellent trunk control --way better than mine! I highly recommend PMP. So worth every penny.
