The therapists and front office staff deserve five stars. Leadership's approach to families does not. As a parent of twins with developmental disabilities, I understand the importance of attendance. I also understand the reality of managing multiple therapies, medical appointments, school meetings, and life. Over time, repeated conversations about missed appointments, attendance reminders, and signing attendance acknowledgments left me feeling judged instead of supported. The final straw was accidentally leaving one week off a summer scheduling form, which led to another conversation about attendance. It wasn't about that one incident--it was the realization that this philosophy simply doesn't align with how I believe families of children with additional needs should be treated. The clinicians were wonderful, and the front desk staff were always professional and kind. My disappointment lies with leadership and the culture created by these policies. Families seeking pediatric therapy need partnership, empathy, and flexibility. Unfortunately, that wasn't our experience, and we chose to take our children elsewhere. read more

I have to update my review as things have gone downhill. We had a rough start with Childs Play with frequent turnover with their SLPs made it difficult to find a good match for my daughter. We finally got a good match and they "switched departments". Then they started saying I had to move my time due to scheduling conflicts even though we had waited 2 years to get the time slot we had. We got moved with a new SLP and I complained that they kept canceling and rescheduling. I can only assume they were double booking so instead of taking accountability for their poor planning, they decided to discontinue services simply because i advocated for my daughter. They dont seem to care about the children, they just want their paycheck read more

We loved working with the therapists here. Ms Elena, Ms Tweety and Ms Janis were all very kind and my son responded to them well. My complaint is about the administrative side. There were several instances where I told a staff member either via text or in person the weeks we would not be available due to vacation or school schedules. They still contacted me repeatedly to come in. One example is when we were on vacation, and I notified them in person and again via text of the dates we would be gone and when we would be back and available to resume services. Even with this knowledge, they still contacted me twice while on vacation to schedule classes during the weeks that we were gone. The second issue is with the billing. They issued statements without any insurance codes, which resulted in our insurance rejecting all of the claims, them having to redo all of the bills, and me having to submit again. This has resulted in me waiting over 5 months to receive reimbursement (I have still yet to receive anything) for thousands of dollars. It also resulted in insurance rejecting some of the claims. I just discovered that I have to pay a big chunk of it out of pocket. Had I known sooner, I could have reduced the frequency of sessions to stay within our allotted benefit amount. If I could give stars based solely on our therapists, it would be a 5 star review. But because of the struggles with scheduling and issues with billing, unfortunately we are going to find a different provider. read more

I can't praise Child's Play Therapy Services enough. Our daughter has gone to both speech and OT there for quite some time now and has gained so much from these therapies. She is so bonded with both her OT, Allison Inoles, and her SLP, Dr. Gina Pretzer. It's really beautiful to see how at home she feels in their space and she has always received the warmest welcome from every single member of the staff. Allison and Gina are both so knowledgeable, flexible, caring, and creative. They are wonderful people and exceptional practitioners. It is clear that they love what they do and have boundless patience and care for the kids. We have learned a lot about sensory strategies as well as how to support our gestalt language learner. The only problem is the our daughter never wants to leave when it's time to go and she always tries to convince her therapists to let her move in. . read more

My child started speech here cause he is non verbal. Are first therapist was very helpful and insightful but once she left things seem to go downhill. My child is constantly bumped resulting in seeing at least 1 different person every month, which makes no sense if his assigned therapist is there. They are also discharging him for a very odd reason of not being engaged enough during session. They just seem to prioritize certain people over others. Really disappointed with my experience here. I signed my son up for speech therapy, and the starting point was an expensive evaluation (which I don't understand, given he has a minor lisp and it took them five minutes to figure out the plan). But it was the process and we went with it. As we were ready to start treatment they unilaterally switched the date and time to when I wasn't home with him. Annoying, but it was zoom and we figured the sitter could report back. The first session seemed to go fine. Second session inexplicably ended after 23 minutes (which, at $120 for 30 minutes, is not ok). Evidently the therapist was rushed, said throughout the session that they'd be wrapping up soon, and just kept telling him to push more air through (not terribly helpful). I wrote to the office and it took weeks to hear back. Even after I asked them to pause our sessions until we could find a time when I would be present, they continued to add us to the schedule. So disorganized. Aside from our less-than-stellar experiences, I think it's concerning that they do not assign a single speech therapist who will work with the kid. Instead, we were told they assign whoever shows up that day. This isn't retail - kids need continuity in order to build rapport and trust and develop their skills. Many services for kids feel like a cash grab but this place was particularly disappointing. read more

My family ABSOLUTELY loves Nikki! My son started feeding therapy nearly a year ago and I came in very guarded after a negative experience with a Kaiser feeding therapist. My son was 20 months old and we were at the beginning of establishing our son's needs, I was feeling overwhelmed with assessments and frankly dejected to hear he wasn't meeting so many milestones. To my surprise, Nikki put us at ease and provided the guidance we needed when we were feeling so vulnerable. Nikki has truly been instrumental in my son's development and it's not limited to feeding needs, we are fortunate to have transitioned her as our regular occupational therapist and we couldn't be any happier. Vanessa the administrative assistant there is fantastic! After a scheduling conflict could have resulted in no longer seeing Nikki, Vanessa went out of her way to coordinate a solution that worked out better than I could have ever imagined. We aren't allowed to take pictures or videos inside but here is our little guy enjoying the fall leaves outside after one of his sessions. read more

How does this place have 5 stars. Whatever you do avoid Ms. Rebecca. She is extremely unenthusiastic and lack luster in engaging with non verbal autistic children. My son did not see any improvement with this facility and my son was dropped due to not seeming to be engaging. They basically said he didn't seem like he was into therapy and was too tired, but the therapy was him playing with play doh and games he has at home. Often times his therapist would make him see a substitute even when she is in office. She would just bump his appt time and see another child in his scheduled time. Please avoid this place if your child is non verbal. They also did not communicate with his school or other therapist on his progress. Talked to the manager and all she did was apologize and say they can do better. Unacceptable. read more

My son has been with Child's Play for almost two years now, receiving both speech and OT services. Though it took a while for space to open up for him, I am incredibly grateful it did. The caring nature, flexibility in the day's plan, and the play based approach all of the staff take, is paramount to his ability to get through a session, even when he's not feeling especially cooperative. He's made a colossal amount of progress during his time, and I'm sure he will carry the skills he has learned into his adolescence and far beyond. As a parent, they make things really easy too. Billing is automated and bills are easily accessed via an online portal. COVID protocol has been top notch as well, offering both telehealth and in-person services that feel incredibly safe. And, perhaps most importantly, its pretty easy to get a hold of a kind human for a quick question. I honestly feel lucky we found Child's Play. read more

Our 6 year old has been at CPTS for almost a year now and he LOVES it here. Dustin, his SLP, is amazing!! He has helped our son grow in so many ways. When he started last year he had very minimal language but is now able to communicate through various language modalities. Dustin has helped him navigate not only his speech needs but also uncovering a lot of our son's sensory needs. We have seen so much growth since coming to CPTS. We were fortunate to be matched with Child's Play for my child's speech therapy services, and have been receiving services for a few months now. First off, setting up sessions was quick and easy - they're very responsive. We also have had a solid experience in covid times - you can choose to do the session virtually or in person, and if in person there are temperature checks outdoors, sanitizing stations, masks and face shield used consistently. We love our speech therapist Lindsay, who engages my kid in all manner of songs, toys, flashcards, stories - we've made so much progress! They have also recently expanded their space and taken over additional rooms in the building, so there's more room for everyone. I believe they also offer occupational therapy and other pediatric developmental assessments/therapies. In general, I feel like there's so much demand for their services in this area and I'm grateful that we've found a great place in our neighborhood, I'd recommend Child's Play for any parent looking for a great place for their child! read more

Our daughter struggled with her coordination and sense of control which was further exacerbated during a year of virtual learning during the pandemic. My son has been going to his Occupational therapy for about 1.5 years. During that time, he has received treatments from multiple therapists including the owner, and they all have been wonderful. Sarah, his current therapist, has been our greatest ally during our difficult journey through my son's sensory processing disorder. We started at Child's Play during the pandemic for occupational therapy services for my son. They have been absolutely fantastic with their COVID protocols. I have felt safe sending my son each week. They have even offered virtual sessions to keep momentum going when we traveled and needed to socially distance to keep others safe. My son loves going to Irene each week. He works hard at his sessions but has so much fun doing it. We are seeing lots of progress since he started. We drive from Pleasanton and they are absolutely worth the time. This place was great a year to a year and a half ago. Then our OT left and the replacements have been meh at best. The head OT person is abrasive and does not listen. Always interrupting. The space is pretty good. But there is too much commotion. Other therapists walking on and out of the room to grab things. Plus no chair for the parent. Sitting on the floor with severe rheumatoid arthritis is really difficult. I would no longer recommend this place. read more

During our time at Child's Play, my son's coordination improved substantially as did his emotion regulation related to social anxiety. His confidence grew and this manifested across every domain -- home, school and the community. His OT, Dalya Heller, is dedicated, incredibly skilled, kind, authentic and calm in the face of whatever struggles come her way. Being connected to her helped me find the confidence I needed as a parent to show up for my son's areas of growth. How do you begin to write a review about someone who has fundamentally changed your family's life for the better? I came across Christina's website while searching for child therapists around my area. I didn't know exactly what I was looking for but I desperately needed help for my 3-year-old son who was becoming increasingly anxious and fearful of his everyday surroundings. As an infant, my son was extremely fussy, anxious, and sensitive to everything surrounding him. Background noises, looks from strangers, and unfamiliar textures and places would throw him into a tailspin of uncontrollable crying for hours. I found myself isolated at home most days in fear of his unpredictable tantrums. Although everyone assured me he was just going through a phase, instinctually as a mother, I knew that something wasn't right, and his fears/anxiety never truly went away. When I finally met Christina, I was a little skeptical, because I didn't understand how OT was used to address my son's fears, attitude and worldview, especially since he was born physically healthy. It wasn't until she started demonstrating and educating me on how different my son's nervous system processed information that it all clicked and made sense. Not only did my son process sensory information differently, he also struggled with motor planning and spatial awareness, which explained so much of his anxiety/fears and meltdowns. We've been working with Christina weekly for a few months now, and I can't even begin to tell you the progress we have achieved. My son used to be scared of play structures and moving objects, like the swing, and now he runs towards with it with gusto and confidence like a typical 3-year-old should. His tantrums used to last anywhere from 30-60 minutes and now it doesn't last longer than 20 minutes. The list goes on and on. My son has so much more confidence in his abilities and isn't as anxious or fearful of his surroundings as he used to be. Even our close family and friends have commented on his progress and change in attitude. Most importantly, she has given me tools that work specifically for my son. Whenever I hit a road block, she's always there to give me a breakdown of what's going on in his mind and an action plan for me to try. And it always works! Christina truly loves what she does, and she has taught me how to better understand my son and how to push the limits of what he's capable of in a healthy, dignified way. read more

We have utilized OT services at Child's Play and it has been a wonderful experience. My kiddos were at ease during the assessment process and then were matched with lovely therapists for ongoing services. The therapists really listen to our needs and also care about my thoughts and feelings as the parent, along this journey. Everyone is very responsive to email/phone messages. The admin has been helpful with any questions about invoices for insurance. They also have a useful portal where I can access receipts for insurance as well as exercises that have been prescribed at home. read more

After a stressful search I found this place for speech therapy. From the start Yasmine was very helpful and made sure I got a call back. With every place being backed up due to the world shutting down luckily we got right in with Bri who has done so much magic with my son. She is very patient and she understood my child's personality right away. Bri does more then speech therapy for us she gives us information on everything which has helped make this whole journey much easier.
