We have been going to Therapy At Play for I believe over a year now. The office is very comfortable with a calming vibe. This is especially nice for children who are overstimulated with too much going on. They have a mini parent book library, and lots fun games on the walls for children to be engaged. The office staff is also very kind and considerate. They are helpful, but not pushy, which is lovely for a family that is trying to keep up regular visits but occasionally have things come up (like sicknesses). I've experienced nothing but kindness from them. I like how they have text communication, which is a very nice tool to navigate absences and other things that come up. This review though is mostly for Dustin Losli. If this review allowed up to 100 stars, Dustin would receive all of them from me. My child was diagnosed with apraxia of speech and has been receiving care since he was 18 months old. I've been to see many therapists in a variety of settings (East Bay Regional, private, and via school district). By far, Dustin is the best therapist we have ever had. I can't rave enough about him. So much so, that I followed him to Therapy At Play from another facility. We now have doubled the time to get to speech therapy in following him, but HE IS THAT GOOD. Dustin is one of a few speech therapists trained in the PROMPT method. It is very difficult to find a specialist in this speech system in California. It was by luck that we stumbled upon Dustin and learned about this system. PROMPT is "a tactile-kinesthetic approach to speech therapy that uses manual guidance and touch cues to help individuals, particularly children, improve their ability to produce speech sounds." In having a child with apraxia of speech, PROMPT gives invaluable feedback to them in training their mouths to perform the correct movements in producing a sound. No other therapy has come close to assisting my son like PROMPT has. And Dustin understands this therapy style inside and out. He is such a gem and an invaluable asset to Therapy At Play. There is hardly anyone out there doing what Dustin is doing. In addition to his credentials and expertise, Dustin has become a mentor to my son. He started seeing my son when he was around 5 years old. My son had tons of energy and a very short attention span. Dustin has transformed his ability to pay attention, know there are consequences in not following (safety) rules, and help him know how to handle his frustration when it comes up during therapy. He is pretty much the only therapist who was able to successfully get my son to perform multiple speech practices in a session. Something invaluable in trying to assist apraxia. As I've worked with Dustin for a few years now, I've seen what an incredible human being he is. I am so grateful for being matched with him in therapy and feel incredibly lucky every time we have a session with him. I have the feeling we won the lottery every time I see him create a win with my son. It's what every parent hopes to feel. With Dustin's guidance, I've seen my son bloom far more than I could have ever hoped for. I am hopeful for many more sessions with Dustin - my son now looks up to him as a role model in his life, as well as a safe place to fail, and learn. My daughter has been attending therapy at play for a few years. She is autistic and uses an AAC device. Ms. McKenna is her SLP. She is so patient and kind! She has great sessions with her. Ms. Yalda is her OT. She has helped my daughter in so many different ways. I'm always learning so much!! We've had a lot of make up sessions with other staff members and they are all so supportive and kind! The office staff is very attentive and helpful. We travel 25 mins to get to this place! We could go elsewhere that's closer to us. But we have really loved this place we can't imagine going elsewhere! read more

My son receives physical therapy at Therapy at Play and we have always had a good experience. Ms. Jeannette is professional and supportive of my son and his developmental needs. While there, however, I did happen to overhear another therapist, Ms. Paige, belittling and shaming the child she was working with. I was not intentionally eavesdropping, but could clearly hear her choice of words and tone and felt very shocked and concerned. It is unclear to me if this type of approach is tolerated and condoned by the management and owners, but I would recommend that parents do not leave their children alone while receiving services here. We've always had a positive experience and Ms. Jeannette is helping my son, but it seems important to share this observation with parents. EDIT: I wanted to let people know that the owner called me within hours of my sharing this review, concerned about what I observed and wanting to address the situation. She asked me for more information and assured me that this type of conduct is not tolerated and that they were going to look into it. OT services with Yalda has been wonderful! She is patient and kind. It's a drive for us to go to San Ramon, and having a supportive therapist made it worthwhile. Ive seen lots of progress with my daughter in a short amount of time. From not sitting at all to sitting most of the session now, she came along way. I will always appreciate how they care for all the kids. Yalda was easy to talk to, she gave me tips and resources on what to do at home. We can't say enough good things about Therapy at Play!!! We have worked with multiple therapists since we started in both San Ramon and Pleasanton. Each therapist has been thoughtful and goal-directed when providing treatment for our son in PT, OT and Speech. They go above and beyond to make therapy fun and engaging and ensure his success! The office staff has been MORE than accommodating with our crazy schedules and billing issues. We would recommend TAP to anyone looking for patient, kind, and skilled therapists to work with their child! Ms. Jeannette (PT) has been working with our son since he was 7 months old and has taught him to roll, crawl, pull to stand and walk in his gait trainer. We weren't sure that he'd ever reach the levels of independence that he has after receiving his initial diagnosis. She has believed in him and loved on him for years while also helping our family to better understand his needs and supporting all of us through difficult times. Ms. Paige (SLP) has helped our son dive into AAC and begin to express himself more than we dreamed after receiving his diagnosis. She makes sessions fun and playful to keep him engaged and is always very thoughtful about the goals she puts forth to help ensure he is successful! Ms. Yalda and Ms. Valeen (OT) have helped our son use his fine motor skills to play more appropriately and to start to eat independently- another skills we didn't know if we'd ever see! Well I know I am late giving this review and would give this place maybe zero stars or negative stars..after our bad experience with therapy at play..we decided to still reconsider them for our child..and they said that they will not give us an appointment unless we took down our negative review of their place..this attitude disgusted me ..Why should I take down a negative review without really knowing if they will do good for my child? My son received occupational therapy at the San Ramon center and his therapist was Yalda, for a little less than a year, weekly, until last July. He loved going to the center because he was learning without even realizing it, mostly by playing, he was having tons of fun. He was always waiting for Thursdays to arrive :). We have been taking our Autistic son to Therapy at Play for over a year now for speech and OT services. We worked with three Speech Therapist prior to meeting Paige Branson at Therapy at Play and she has been amazing. She took the time to build a strong rapport with our son; built on trust and respect which has proven to be invaluable. Our son was only three years old when he started seeing Paige and had very little speech, now he's a little chatterbox. We also receive OT services with Yalda Yekta. She has been helping our son build muscle strength in his hands as well as coordination, both of which impede his ability to dress himself and impact his fine motor skills. Yalda has been very enduring and patient with our son, which when coupled with her professional acumen, have established the necessary foundation for measured success in the pursuit of achieving the intended objectives. Our son loves working with both ladies and always comes out of session smiling and excited. As a parent it is incredibly reassuring that your child is happy and enjoying their therapies especially because the services are so instrumental in their growth and development. On a separate note. I feel compelled to share our experience with Therapy at Play during the Covid Pandemic. Prior to this time, parents were allowed to enter the building and wait in the waiting room and even attend therapy sessions if needed. As a result of the pandemic, safety measures were put into place before reopening for in person sessions which included: mask wearing, temperature checks, sanitizing hands, therapists wore masks, shields and scrubs, there was also no waiting in the lobby. I admit I was nervous about leaving our son alone, because he has a hard time transitioning and didn't have the words to express his feelings but the team was very patient with him and talked him through the process. Attending therapy alone was a big accomplishment for him because he was accustomed to having me with him. In a way the pandemic was helpful in breaking this habit. Additionally, when Therapy at Play was not open for in person sessions, our son received both Speech and OT virtually through a secure platform. Yelda sent me emails prior to session letting me know what supplies would be needed for therapy like scissors, paper, play dough, sand, etc. Paige really honed in on our son's favorite topics like dinosaurs and robots to keep speech engaging. I think it's important I add that our son struggled with virtual sessions but that was not because of a lack of effort on the part of Therapy at Play. Our son did not like the concept and as soon as Therapy at Play was able to reopen our son was one of the first to return. They knew how important it was for him to have in person therapies. Our son received speech therapy from Miss Mallory and thrived under her care! She has a lovely, bright, cheery way about her, and therapy was always a positive experience! Our son also has a tongue tie, and Miss Mallory took a talk tools course to dive deeper into understanding how it was affecting his speech. Every week she had work prepared to keep our son interested and engaged and he loved going to see her! His speech and self-confidence came on in leaps and in his last review at school, his teacher noted that he is exactly where he should be for his age. This is only a review for their OT and especially for Yalda. My son is older and severely autistic with challenges in attention and compliance. Yalda used a Rifton chair in therapy but refused to recommend that the Regional Center fund it for my son for use at home. This is even though Zara (I believe she's the owner) told me in an email to get a chair from eBay. I don't understand Yalda's reluctance. When I called to discuss Yalda's reluctance with Courtney she was rude to me stating that "just because you ask doesn't mean it's going to happen !" Excuse me ?! Then why on Earth did Yalda use it in therapy and Zara suggest buying it from eBay ? And what is with the reluctance in recommending it to the Regional Center ? Is it because use of the Rifton chair is not recommended practice for an autistic kid but Yalda was still doing it ? I also found that Yalda was very rigid in her approach expecting my son to work in a room with broken blinds and claiming that he needs to learn to work and "ignore distractions". If it was that easy then he wouldn't have as many challenges as he does. Courtney agreed to move my son to a distraction free room but Yalda told me at the next session that this was only for that week. I found her rigidity unacceptable. We only went for about 3 sessions and then I asked to terminate because I do not feel comfortable working with an agency that will not work with you / funding sources, even on suggestions that they make to you privately ! read more

After my son's preschool teacher told us that after 6 months she still has trouble understanding him at school we decided just to get him tested and see if he could benefit from speech therapy. We weren't overly worried as we were able to understand him but we have noticed him becoming shy when he interacts with peers or other adults and they don't seem to understand him right away. I yelped and googled places for speech therapy in our area. Not that many places have been reviewed. But when I called Therapy at Play Zarah (the owner) was very friendly and helpful and we made an appointment for an assessment. His speech therapist was Miss Katie and we just love her! She has a sweet, humorous and caring personality. My son and her connected very well. My son thrived within those two months of speech therapy and I do not regret this step ever. We were paying out of pocket as our insurance didn't cover but it was totally worth it. My son now catches himself if he misses his "s" in certain words and corrects himself. His speech is very clear and he articulates his needs/ thoughts very clearly. We couldn't be happier with the outcome! Thank you very much!! read more

Therapy at Play has been such an amazing help and support for my daughter. My daughter was born with a genetic disorder that delays her physically with low muscle tone along with many other disabilities. We began physical therapy with TAP since she was 6 months old. We later began Occupational therapy shortly after at TAP. Because of the genetic disorder,my daughter had low weight gain and we were struggling with teaching her to eat solids and to self feed. I sought out help with feeding therapy at TAP to help my daughter learn to eat solids and put on weight. Because of their support and help, we were able to surpass having a feeding tube inserted in my daughter. They have been incredibly patient, kind and positive with my daughters improvement. With the help and support of Jeannette, Yalda, Valeen, Zarah and Coutney my daughter made a significant thrive in development with their help and guidance. I will forever be grateful for their help that through them my daughter has learned skills that will help her to be more independent as she continues to grow, learn and develope. My son has been going to Therapy at Play for Speech and Occupational Therapy since February of 2011. I have nothing but praise for Zarah and Courtney, the therapists who run TAP, as well as the therapists who have cared so well for my son. We started with Speech Therapy and our initial therapist, Caroline, was incredibly caring and patient even though my little guy was not very forthcoming with speech at that stage! I credit her with teaching him how to sit still to listen to songs, use some sign language and learn how to take turns - skills that were a great help when he started preschool soon afterwards. We had to change therapists twice after that (Katie and Danielle) due to our family's time constraints. At first I was a bit concerned about the impact of the change, but each time, discovered that the therapists were every bit as caring, considerate and supportive of both my son and my husband and me. When you're dealing with something as emotional as discovering that your child is likely to have life-long special needs, it is really wonderful to have professionals like the TAP team backing you up. Another thing that impressed me was when Michelle, the OT that my son saw for about 9 months, told us that he had improved his skills so much that he didn't need OT on a regular basis. Instead, she recommended that she follow up with him on occasion to make sure that he stayed in step with where he should be for his age. We cut OT down to once a month and now we plan on seeing her about 2x per year only. All in all, I am completely happy with the service we get at Therapy at Play. Zarah is also an angel for handling our challenging insurance provider! If you're looking for a great place for your child to progress and learn, I highly recommend Therapy at Play. read more

My son went here for occupational and physical therapy and currently attends just speech therapy and it has been amazing! My son's speech has progressed so much, he's speaking in sentences! When your child is 2.5 years old and cant tell you how he's feeling or what he wants and all you see is frustration on his little face, it's heartbreaking. He maybe had a vocabulary of 3 words at that time. A year and a half ago we brought our lovebug here for an evaluation. We knew our guy was super smart as he was putting puzzles together at a young age, pointed to every color and number you asked him. We found that he had a motor issue. Over the past year and a half working with Miss Katie our little love is using sentences. He went from not being able to say mommy to saying "mommy I want to go to target". Miss Katie gives us worksheets to help us during the week until our next visit. Giving us parents the tools to help us help our child has been extremely helpful and we've seen positive results from it. read more

Our daughter has been going to Therapy at Play for three months and we noted significant improvement with her language skill. She is 5 1/2 yr old and we always have had doubts about her speech/ communication skills. However, her pediatrician reassured that she didn't have any speech issues (he based it on pronunciation). As she was about to enter kindergarten, we grew more concerned because she was still having trouble expressing herself. Once we met with the speech therapist, it finally cleared our understanding that it wasn't the speech, but the language skill that our daughter is lacking. Corrie is our daughter's speech therapist. She is very engaging and our very shy daughter felt so comfortable even at her initial session. She understood exactly the area that we were concerned with and I felt she tailored the therapy session really well for her. The owner Zarah was very friendly and accommodating with the appointment time requested. Communciation was done primarily via email. The fee they charge is reasonable. For any parents who is wondering if you kid needs speech therapy, have your child evaluated by a licensed speech therapist and you can find out your option. We wished we didn't weigh in so much of our daguther's pediatrician's opinion and had started her at Therapy at Play sooner! read more

Not because there aren't other therapists closer but because therapy at play is simply the best. We were at one facility five minutes from our house but were not pleased at all with the lack of professionalism, clinical skills and organization. My son was born 3 months premature and was very delayed in motor skills. At 15 months old he wasn't rolling over or crawling. We went to 4 different physical therapists, without any improvement. They just talked to my husband and I and never really did active therapy with my son because he cried when he didn't want to do anything. We finally went to Therapy at Play to see Miss Rheanne, who has been a miracle worker! She actually does active therapy. My son does cry and protest at the beginning of the sessions but Rheanne continues through the therapy - and produces results! Now he enjoys therapy. Within 3 months, she progressed him through all the stages and he was walking by the end. He has been working with her for 6 months. He is now caught up in his motor skills and scares me every day by climbing up to the top of the couch. read more

Therapy at Play has been an exceptional and truly uplifting enviornment for my daughter from the very beginning.. I went online and found Therapy at Play. I spoke with the owner of the facility, Zarah, who put me at ease immediately. She was not pushy; only listened and patiently heard me out. She advised my daughter come in and get a consultation. As soon as I walked into the door at Therapy at Play, I felt instantly comfortable with its warm surroundings. It was clean and up to date. I met with Zarah whom both my daughter and I immediately took to with ease and comfort with. My daughter absolutely loved attending her therapies. Zarah also came out to my daughter's pre school to observe her in her setting and how she interacted with her peers. My teachers have reached out to me with tears in their eyes (litearlly) saying thank you for getting the help my daughter has needed and what a tremendous difference they have seen in her. I truly believe Miss Zarah and her incredible staff (Miss Courtney, Miss Katie, Miss Jane) are gifted and talented in what they do- they care very deeply about the kids they work with and my daughter has gotten nothing but the best treatment and support out there. Today was a bittersweet day- all of my daughter's goals- short and long term have been unbelievably met. It's bittersweet as we will miss our twice weekly meetings with Zarah as she's such a compassionate and lovely person who knows how to work with kids and their very scared and clueless parents! Whenever a new parent would walk into the waiting room, I would always reassure them they were in the best of hands. I never had that reassurance and had to learn on my own so that is why I am writing this review- so others can understand they are in a place that is not pushy- they truly do have the best interest of the kids and their treatment plans. As a parent, you always want to protect and help your kids and not expose them to "unnessary" treatments- but this facility is without a doubt- one of the-if not the- best. We love you Miss Zarah! Therapy at Play has been a wonderful experience for our son Luke. He was just under three years old and was struggling to keep up with his peers in learning to talk. We tried a couple other clinics/therapists prior to Therapy at Play. The first one had him crying within 10 minutes on our initial interview, and the second was not much better. It was obvious to us that Luke was a bit embarrassed and ashamed that he was behind, and the therapy sessions were going to have to be presented as something fun and enjoyable to make this work. The therapists at Therapy at Play were great at this, mixing play time and learning so that he would be eager to go to his sessions. Luke loved going to Therapy at Play, and as he became more confident the content started to shift to more learning and less play. Therapy at Play at has been a great experience for our family. My 27 month old son was seen here from September through January for a speech delay. Scheduling and communication were easy with the co-owner, Zorah. We were placed with Miss Paige, who was very understanding and really tried to find what interested my son, so we could expand his vocabulary. She always answered my questions and had wonderful suggestions. We are only leaving because my son has made such amazing progress - he's mostly all caught up! My son has been coming to Therapy At Play for 2 years. He began in PT, and soon began Speech and OT services. He no longer needs PT, which is a great thing, but we were sad to not see Kaye anymore. He sees Miss Mallory for speech and is making great strides, with sounds and signs. She spends time after every session to make sure I know what they worked on, his accomplishments and what we can continue to practice. He also works with Miss Yalda for OT and has a great time with her. Not only does she get him to practice his fine motor skills, but does so in such a fun and positive way. She has also given me many, many activities and toy ideas for keeping up his strength and coordination in his hands. We have had many changes in our schedule, due to preschool and doctor's appointments. Therapy at Play has always been accommodating and professional. PHYSICAL THERAPY REVIEW: We chose Therapy at Play for Physical Therapy for my kid seeing the raving 5 star reviews. Only now we realize that those reviews are for speech and occupational therapy. Sorry my review has a low rating based on my experience for physical therapy for my kid. My kid was delayed in reaching its milestones, so decided on giving physical therapy. We started the therapy when my baby was like 6 months old. The teacher (Rheanne) was OK initially but later on we began to realize that she puts all kids in a box, and any behavior out of the box she make it look so negative that anyone will start looking at their baby as a burden rather than a blessing. When we spoke with folks at home, they said the behavior is totally normal and every kid is different, as even when I was a kid, I crawled and walked late, but now I am fine I think. Relatives said when the baby grows up it will have lot of pressures, why are you so crazy to pressurize it so early, let it be a kid for sometime. As a parent we wanted to give our kid the best, so continued the therapy but the teacher's behavior was so negative that we don't want to continue giving therapy with her. I feel her mind is like a fly, just as a fly is attracted to a small piece of crap in a garden of flowers, her mind can only see negative in our kid and nothing positive. Before she gives physical therapy for others I feel she needs physiological therapy herself, which would make her a better physical therapist. Again I am not saying she is not knowledgeable but she needs to have a more positive outlook. read more

My son was born with hypotonia. (Still undiagnosed) His pedi caught it at our 8 week check up. At first we were in a little bit of denial about it. Because you always want your kid to be just like every other kid of course. Family members would say oh he's fine and he will catch up and what not. But thankfully we started physical therapy with Miss Rheanne after being vendored out by Kaiser; working with Miss Rheanne has been such a blessing for our son and our family. When we first started at therapy at play he could barely lift his head. And that was at about three months old. Now he's 16 months old and he is crawling and pulling to stand and cruising. I truly believe that without the intervention from Miss Rheanne that he would not be where he is today. And not to mention the wonderful warm character that she brings, and the at home lessons that she recommends. I could not recommend any PT more highly, and I don't understand one of the the previous poster's negative review of her. There is a waiting list to get into the program and for GOOD reason. PT itself doesn't work if the parents don't want to work on the child's development as well, and we've had all the tools that we need to make our child catch up as much as he can, all this thanks to Miss Rheanne.
