Founded by a well known and well respected Physician, John Giddens. Along with his practice partner, Dr. Julia Nyquist, Fremont UCC / Concentra has been providing great care to the community for decades. Before I became a licensed Paramedic, I was a certified Medical Assistant for a number of years. So I pay extra attention and scrutiny to the care myself & my family receives. I can say without doubt, that this clinic does a good job. They have great support staff & great doctors who genuinely care about patients. Due to the volume of walk-in patients for occupational health services, the wait times can be long. Nevertheless, I'm a huge fan & will continue to use this clinic. It felt like they were just going through the motions instead of caring about patients. Surprisingly, the students in training were far more respectful and professional than the actual staff. I was lucky I could see a doctor on the day I stopped in (I was told that they don't accept appointments, you have to walk in), because I did overhear several patients who were told to return the next day. So much for urgent care. If your schedule is flexible, bring something with you to pass the time, like a book to read. I ended up spending hours here. 11:30am: Walked in and gave my info. They also gave me a face mask because I couldn't stop coughing. I'm glad they had a spare to give to me. 1:30pm: Took about 2 hours before a nurse finally ran a flu and covid test on me. 3:00pm: FINALLY saw a doctor. She was very nice, and gave me prescriptions to pick up at my pharmacy later. 3:19pm: Dismissed and good to go, and given a doctor's note to excuse me from work. It's located close to the Kaiser Hospital near Marina Blvd. For clarity, this urgent center is not a Kaiser center, in case if there's confusion.

I arrived at 9:50 to check in and the lady had to take my pre-employement physical authorization code back to her manager to ask if they could do the physical today. BUT WHY WOULD YOU SCHEDULE SOMEONE FOR AN APPOINTMENT, if you were not sure if you had the time to do a physical for a employer? Why even contract out if you're too busy to do physicals in the first place? She came back and said they could do the physical today. She said it was a 2-3 hour wait. I asked her about my appointment, and she said it doesn't matter. So if you're doing a pre-employment physical, an appointment won't matter. I asked if I could leave for an hour and come back, and she said no since I also needed to do a drug test for my job. I sat in the waiting room and waited. Surely they'll go in order of whoever arrived first, but nope. Physicals are the lowest priority, so you'll sit there while everyone else gets called back. Including people who arrived hours after you. Bring snacks and something to do. They have a water dispenser and a Keurig with no pods or coffee cups.

They kept on telling me to get an x-ray when that's not what I needed and was never what I needed. Why would I need an x-ray for an issue with my tendon. X-rays can't even see tendons or muscles. I may not be a doctor, but I do have several medical certifications, and easily knew they were bs-ing. For several months I had to deal with pain in my arm. I was able to get the issue resolved, but certainly not with Concentra. In fact, Concentra only made my arm hurt more, because they kept putting me through physical therapy. My arm did not need to move more weight. I was already moving a lot of weight at my old job. It was seen as so unnecessary, that even their other physical therapists were confused as to why I kept being sent over to them. The service is bad, and doctors and nurses also have bad customer service. This is the only place a doctor and nurse have ever argued with me, and over something I was right about the whole time. I 100% would not recommend this place and never want to be seen here again!

That level of disorganization and lack of communication is unacceptable, especially for a medical provider. At this point, it honestly makes me question how they're operating like this. Facilities that handle patient care should be held to professional standards, and based on my experience, this place seriously needs oversight. After 2 hours, the lady in the reception area just found out I needed updated paperwork from my employer. I had to wait another hour to be called in. Now that my drug screening and I was seen by MD for "a second long", my wait time for my lab draw is taking a lifetime. It's 1:50pm and I am still here waiting.... I recommend that the corporation/leadership need to look at on why you're still accepting patients wherein you are all flooded with with urgent care patients. Your staff work pace, is as slow as it takes for they know patients are going to wait. It's sad. This is the saddest day in a patient's wait area. This needs to STOP.
