Our child was a late talker, so we did our research and found East Bay Child Development Center…read more(formerly PLTA). From intake to our final class, the staff made sure that the scheduling process was a breeze, and that visits did not fall short of expectations. They have an excellent staff dedicated to your child's development, and the office is pristine. Not just clean; very well kept. I noticed that there wasn't one tear on a book or broken toys. They put lots of effort into upkeep, knowing well that toys and books can take a beating with younger kids. East Bay Child Development Center has terrific speech therapists and therapists specialized in helping in all other types of child development, including but not limited to physical therapy, etc. We went through 2 different speech therapists and 1 or 2 therapy students which was a little harder for our son to grow accustomed to because it would take him awhile to warm up (which I've learned isn't unusual for any development therapy center), but each therapist tried their absolute best to ensure they were giving him the utmost care and attention.

That speech is not a good fit for him, that his sister runs around the hallways exploring toys and opened doors of offices, about me get a phone call so they discharged him from services. This is racism and discrimination by the way ladies I want to give you suggestions, your office needs a new administration, organisation and functionality. Everybody there seems to go everywhere, I don't know if these people work here are they clients. The back door to the outside was open, this is called dysfunctional. The office receptionist was like his first day to work, confused and looked around like a lost boy. There four people by office were speaking loud and chatting. They failed my son years ago when he was younger because they said he was not ready for speech when I just changed my insurance to get accepted to come here. Now he's 12 years old saying he's not a good fit. Shame on you to say that to me. You can't discharge him that's illegal. My son is trying with his speech and he has rights in California to receive speech therapy any age. Discrimination by the ability, then age, what's next because his sister running around the office and also I was on the phone? For that lady who spoke with me today over the phone couldn't wait on me. And making me feel like I was being fired from the job, she sounded rude and said my daughter was running around the room and I was speaking loud on the phone so the excuse to fail my son. Then changed her words saying he's not a good fit and he runs fast and wants to push the kids. She needs to find more excuses for her to dismiss him. You don't know how hard and challenging to be a mother of autistic kid. I finally thought I have him his speech going and then you locked me up like shutting my mouth. Go see if your speech therapist is the one who has the problem. She too lazy to give speech therapy or has a lack of skills. This is Shameless and discrimination.

We have been taking our Autistic son to Therapy at Play for over a year now for speech and OT…read moreservices. We worked with three Speech Therapist prior to meeting Paige Branson at Therapy at Play and she has been amazing. She took the time to build a strong rapport with our son; built on trust and respect which has proven to be invaluable. Our son was only three years old when he started seeing Paige and had very little speech, now he's a little chatterbox. We also receive OT services with Yalda Yekta. She has been helping our son build muscle strength in his hands as well as coordination, both of which impede his ability to dress himself and impact his fine motor skills. Yalda has been very enduring and patient with our son, which when coupled with her professional acumen, have established the necessary foundation for measured success in the pursuit of achieving the intended objectives. Our son loves working with both ladies and always comes out of session smiling and excited. As a parent it is incredibly reassuring that your child is happy and enjoying their therapies especially because the services are so instrumental in their growth and development. On a separate note. I feel compelled to share our experience with Therapy at Play during the Covid Pandemic. Prior to this time, parents were allowed to enter the building and wait in the waiting room and even attend therapy sessions if needed. As a result of the pandemic, safety measures were put into place before reopening for in person sessions which included: mask wearing, temperature checks, sanitizing hands, therapists wore masks, shields and scrubs, there was also no waiting in the lobby. I admit I was nervous about leaving our son alone, because he has a hard time transitioning and didn't have the words to express his feelings but the team was very patient with him and talked him through the process. Attending therapy alone was a big accomplishment for him because he was accustomed to having me with him. In a way the pandemic was helpful in breaking this habit. Additionally, when Therapy at Play was not open for in person sessions, our son received both Speech and OT virtually through a secure platform. Yelda sent me emails prior to session letting me know what supplies would be needed for therapy like scissors, paper, play dough, sand, etc. Paige really honed in on our son's favorite topics like dinosaurs and robots to keep speech engaging. I think it's important I add that our son struggled with virtual sessions but that was not because of a lack of effort on the part of Therapy at Play. Our son did not like the concept and as soon as Therapy at Play was able to reopen our son was one of the first to return. They knew how important it was for him to have in person therapies. He is back receiving in person therapies and thriving.

After attending for about two years, OT services were successfully completed, and speech therapy has led to significant improvement. We've seen great growth in communication and confidence over time. I found Language Essentials after leaving the speech services we were receiving at Valleycare (in Livermore) because I found the pediatric services there inadequate. I can't say enough good things about Language Essentials. My daughter has increased from 2-4 sessions per week due to her speech issues and so I am there in the office quite a bit. The receptionist Melissa is very approachable and kind. She is always available to answer my insurance questions and to help with scheduling. While there I see all the therapists come into the waiting room to meet their clients of varying age ranges and everyone seems in good spirits to be there. My daughter can always be found waiting with her face practically at the door for Ms. Lily to come for her. I love that all the children including my daughter think they are there to play and they don't realize how hard they are working. My daughter thinks we go to see and play with her friends and in a way she's right but she has no idea how much they are helping her achieve her goals in ways I couldn't and wouldn't begin to know how to. I have no regrets choosing Language Essentials and I tell all my fellow therapy moms and dad's at my daughters preschool (School of Imagination) and now we see some of them in the waiting room too! And now that I've told you the Pros, just so you know there are a few Cons. They are in no particular order: 1) if you have a kiddo in diapers, the bathroom for the main office building doesn't have a changing table (so we just have to go to the car), 2) the waiting room has lots of seating but only 2 out of the 8 chairs are sofa like and if you are a therapy mom like me and spend a lot of time in waiting rooms then you can appreciate a nice chair! I'd love to see more of those but for now we just try to get there a little early so I can stake my claim in a comfy spot while my kiddo works on chatting it up with her buddy/therapist Ms. Lily!

Look elsewhere for better and professional businesses.
