My son worked with Miss Jannae at Therapy at Play for speech therapy between 1.5 and 2.5 years old. Miss Jannae was truly amazing with my son! We would always joke that Miss Jannae was one of his favorite people. He looked forward to his sessions every week because they were so much fun for him. Miss Jannae was not only kind and encouraging with my son, but also shared a lot of helpful tips we could use at home to help his speech. We were blessed to be connected to TAP by our case manager at Regional Center of the East Bay. My son received occupational therapy with Valeen and speech therapy with Rebecca and later Divya. My primary concern at the time we began services was the frequency of my son's tantrums, which appeared to be due to him not being understood and therefore me not adequately meeting his needs and wants. I cannot describe what it was like for my son to articulate "Mama I love you!" The tantrums are now approximately once a week (sometimes less!) instead of once a day or more. I can't thank Rebecca and Divya enough. Valeen's OT services were so effective that I implemented many of the things we did in session at home and we hit our goals and discharged within just a few months. I highly recommend doing OT for early intervention for autism if your child qualifies. I am so glad I decided to try OT instead of ABA. This approach was far less time intensive but just as effective. He feeds himself with utensils now, brushes his own teeth, washes his hands and he has yet to turn 3. My life as a primary caregiver is much easier now thanks to Valeen's support. If you can get your child into early intervention at Regional Center, or you have health insurance that covers it, or have the personal means to finance this, I highly recommend TAP. read more

Words can't express how thankful I am to Dustin, SLP, and Erika for helping my son with articulating his r sound. He had speech services provided by the school for many years and unfortunately wasn't able to move the needle much. Flash forward to Therapy at Platy, Dustin made meaningful progress after the first visit. A few months later and my son no longer needs their services. It was a bittersweet moment saying goodbye as he wrapped up his final session! This office and their staff care tremendously about their patients and it shows. My eldest son began seeing Miss Alanna for speech in 2021 and he excelled with her help and direction. He "graduated" at the end of kindergarten and was really sad to not go to his weekly speech sessions. My youngest son was evaluated by Kaiser in the summer of 2023 and presented with initial consonant deletion; we were then referred out. I immediately contacted Therapy at Play to try and get him a spot and we were so lucky there was an opening. He began seeing Miss Rebecca and went from barely being able to make b, p, c sounds to now formulating full-on sentences and he's become quite the chatter box. Ms. Alanna worked with my daughter for the last 2.5 years and we couldn't have been more appreciative of her. My daughter has high functioning autism and with the speech delay and behavioral issues, it was a long road but Alanna always gave her the best care and experience. When she started at TAP, she had very minimal words, now I can't get her to stop talking! Everyone in the office has always been very kind and accepting of her. We had an excellent experience working with Ms Divya for speech therapy for my son. His goals were clearly defined, and I appreciated the homework sheets that helped us practice at home. The sessions were engaging, and my son benefited greatly from Ms Divya's thoughtful, patient and kind approach to teaching him. My son had both speech and OT services for the past several years at the San Ramon and Pleasanton offices. At best, the therapists have been mediocre in our experience. Due to the consistently low-quality of care, I had to switch therapists within the agency multiple times. Even after many months of observation and explicit communication with the therapists on how to work with my son, I was disappointed at how most of the therapists were unenthusiastic, inexperienced and/or lacked the skills to understand how to help my son progress as a gestalt language processor. (We did have one great OT who gave me tips once I asked her for specific coordination exercises, but she left the agency a year ago.) Many of them just go through the motions and do not actually care to bond with the child. Due to insurance coverage purposes, I can relate to how it is very difficult to get in-person services, and how there are not many options. If you have no choice but to come to Therapy at Play, I suggest that you sit in the sessions to observe and don't hesitate to give feedback to the therapists. The owners were fairly good about scheduling and giving options when there were openings. However, Courtney at the Pleasanton office can be very unprofessional depending on her mood. Due to a disagreement with her about a new schedule her assistant had proposed to me, she was outright rude and so I no longer could justify going to this office. But I strongly advise not getting on her bad side because then she and the SLP discharged my son saying he met all his goals (untrue) and no longer needed speech services (untrue). Now that my insurance received a report with false findings from Therapy at Play, they are not approving any further speech services from any vendor and I have to go through the hassle of filing a grievance. In summary, if you have no options but to go with Therapy at Play, be prepared to instruct the therapists on how to work with your child, and be careful if you need to go to the Pleasanton office knowing you're at the risk of getting discharged with a report with which you disagree. read more

My son has been coming to Therapy at Play in Pleasanton for over a year now, and we have been SO HAPPY. My son is ASD and has a speech delay and he made so much progress in the time being. He has a hard time with transitions in general but anytime he has a hard time/meltdown, his therapist and staff is always offering help and trying to make it smooth as possible for him and I appreciate that so much. He has sessions with Miss Divya, who is absolutely terrific and I love how she makes him work while she makes it a game and play for him. We do make up sessions with other therapists when Miss Divya is not available and all of them have been absolutely great. The front desk is always so kind and makes you feel so welcome coming in. I got so much good advice from them, not just regarding the sessions but behavior/school wise or really any questions I have they always try to help. As a parent of a special needs child I cannot express how much my husband and I appreciate this place and how happy we are that our son is able to be part of it. I am very protective of my son but I always know he is in good hands when we come here and that is so important for me as a parent. read more

The team at therapy at play is excellent and we highly recommend them for speech therapy. We started working with them when my son was about 19 months old (he's currently 2.5 yrs). He's been with a number of different therapists including miss Emily (who no longer works here) miss Mallory and miss Divya via both in person and virtual sessions. They all engage with him so well using creative means, and have given us useful tips on how to expand his speech at home between sessions. He has a ton of fun during the sessions and he's made tremendous progress (started with 3 words and now speaks in 3-4 word sentences and has too many words in his vocabulary to count).  If you go in person the environment is cheery and bright. They keep the rooms very clean (sanitize between clients) and are diligent about COVID precautions.  Courtney is extremely responsive with logistics related requests and flexible with our needs/schedule which we also very much appreciate ! read more

I really have to say this review is LONG over due! Both my kids went to Therapy at Play and my youngest still goes to Therapy at Play. Both my kids improved with speech and OT services thru Therapy at Play. We have had multiple therapists here and they all have been so great. I like that there are multiple speech and OT therapists here, because it makes make ups a bit easier and allows my kids to receive instruction/services from different people. The therapists made a comfortable learning environment and therefore they were able to work on the skills that my kids needed practice on. The therapists have always been really communicative and supportive of my kids and teaching me what I can do at home too. The office staff are also friendly and easy to communicate with. I feel grateful that I was able to find Therapy at Play years ago and that my kids have thrived here. My youngest in particular was barely walking, not talking, and not doing any hand gestures when he started around age 15months. Now that he is 3 he has much more functional language, loves to sing songs and do the gestures and hand motions. Forever grateful for Therapy at Play and their staff! read more

My daughter was prescribed speech therapy classes from her pediatrician and Therapy at Play was recommended to us as an option. My hairdresser also recommended this location and noted that her daughter had received speech therapy here as well and the experience was positive. The front desk staff is super understanding, easy to communicate and schedule with, and very sweet and helpful to my daughter's individual speech needs. Divya is a great teacher, super thoughtful and caring towards my daughter and mindful of my own needs and how I can best help my daughter improve outside of class. read more

Most unprofessional front desk people. Whatever they communicate verbally is never going to implement that. Multiple incidents happened at the Pleasanton office. One we informed we are going to miss the classes in advance they mentioned they would refund the amount for the missed classes but it was never done. Another incident we have informed we are going on a vacation well in advance but we were not told about any make up classes nor they scheduled it at their end. We were told about the make up classes just before our vacation time and we informed the lady at the front desk to keep the spot until we are coming back (after 3 weeks) and reschedule the classes after we got back from vacation. She agreed with this but to our shock she removed our spot from speech and not a single email or verbal communication about the removal. Such an unprofessional and unethical lady. This office never communicated with us over emails except for monthly invoices. read more

Ms Divya is an absolute angel. My son has recieved speech services from age 2-3. We were suppose to transfer to the school district at age 3, however my son loved Ms Divya so much we continued past his birthday through summertime. Ms Divya has been patient, caring and created an environment for my sons speech to take great strides. We started our speech journey at the San Ramon location and transfered to the Pleasanton location when it opened. Both facilities are clean, have many activities and toys. I would recommend Therapy at Play to anyone needing speech services. read more

My child went to Therapy at Play regularly from October to April and saw a pediatric OT named Nooshin. I would recommend Therapy at Play, but especially Miss Nooshin (I do not have any experience with other OT's there). She is so kind, patient and just talented at working with kids. She built a very sweet relationship with my child, so much that it was hard to say goodbye! Throughout the treatment time she emailed me regularly to discuss how to help my child at home and in school and provided tangible resources tailored for our family along the way. She helped us with community resources as well. I didn't know what to expect with outpatient OT, but after working with Nooshin this school year, I realize now how pivotal her influence has been to our family's growth and development. I am so grateful to her and highly recommend her for pediatric OT. read more
