I've been going to Concentra, formerly known as as Fremont Urgent Care for 25 years now. When we cannot get an appointment with our regular primary care providers, we go to this clinic. Founded by a well known and well respected Physician, John Giddens. Along with his practice partner, Dr. Julia Nyquist, Fremont UCC / Concentra has been providing great care to the community for decades. Before I became a licensed Paramedic, I was a certified Medical Assistant for a number of years. So I pay extra attention and scrutiny to the care myself & my family receives. I can say without doubt, that this clinic does a good job. They have great support staff & great doctors who genuinely care about patients. Due to the volume of walk-in patients for occupational health services, the wait times can be long. Nevertheless, I'm a huge fan & will continue to use this clinic. The wait times are horrible. Even with an appointment, you'll sit in the waiting room forever and then once they take to the exam room, you'll sit another 30+ minutes waiting for the one doctor available to see you. Extremely poor experience and insane wait. Waited for 2hrs not being able to talk to the doctor at all, practitioners don't seem like they care. This facility is open for half days from Monday to Friday, and full day on Saturday, but there is only one doctor on Saturday which resulted in very long wait despite not many people in the waiting room. He was asked twice to get me a wrap for my knee because it's week and hr wouldn't provide it. I will not accept another appt from Shah. I was informed by Marichelle Masilang-Cupino , N.P. regarding physical therapy and I brought it up to Shah and he was dismissive about that as well.. I had been here twice and walked away with very good experience. Recently I went there for a respiratory problem - Sutter and Washington were both full - but Concentra was able to take me in. They were quite efficient. The doctor listened patiently and Concentra was able to take X-ray and do other tests right there (I didn't know that and thought I may have to go to an external lab). All in all I spent about 90 minutes. Next time I'm choosing Concentra over other options. read more

Just had the strangest experience. I came here on a Saturday with a little over an hour before closing - drove 30min because online I didn't see anything saying they stopped seeing patients x amount of time before closing. I get there and the waiting room is empty so I thought it would be fine. I was then told they're not taking anymore patients. I'm confused as to why as this is urgent care and I arrived well before closing. The receptionist was kind and offered to give me paper work and get there on Monday but the reason I went there was because they were open on sat. They are very Professional and have Systems in place to collect the Samples. They make you Wash your hands Empty your Pockets And on Occasion watch you fill the Test Container. I've been to this Concentra several times for work purposes. Haven't had the greatest experience at all. During my physical last week, I was told that the treadmill test was not working properly. They told me they would give me a call later in the week when it was working. I had an appointment scheduled today at 9:30. I arrived here at 9am to check in, because i know how this place operates. Well at 10:20 I went to the front desk to ask what was going on and what the delay was. Story 1: Someone ahead of me is currently on the treadmill taking the test. I requested to speak with the manager as I've been waiting for an hour. Story 2: the manager advised that the computer system was down all over Concentra. I had another appointment elsewhere at 11:15. I was told to come back after my appointment and that they would be ready for me. Well I'm currently writing this review and the current time is 1:35pm. I've been told again that there someone in the room taking the test again. Horrible experience here. read more

The bedside manner here is severely lacking. There is no time management at all. All the nurses just hang out in the back and chat with each other. I was told due to being a work walk in that it's a 3 hour wait. I've been here for 4 hours and keep getting the run around from the nurses. Took a total of 7 hours to get 3 stitches. If I could go be this place 0 starts I would!!!! I had a very disappointing experience at this urgent care. When I first came in, the front desk staff was unprofessional and had a lot of attitude, making the visit immediately unpleasant. The medical assistant cursed twice while I was in the room, frustrated over the front desk messing up my paperwork. This caused significant delays, as I had to wait while staff came in and out of the room to fix it, making my first visit take far longer than it should have. I was told by the medical assistant to come anytime before 4:21 PM on Friday to have my TB test read. I showed up at 2:00 PM, but they couldn't read it, and I ended up wasting four hours of my day because of their lack of professionalism and inaccurate information. I called at least 12 times for clarification, but no one answered the phone, and I don't understand why they don't pick it up. I witnessed the staff sitting around, laughing and talking to each other in Spanish instead of answering phone calls. Additionally, my TB test was administered in the wrong location of my arm--it was done too low, when it was supposed to be done higher. This upset me greatly, as I take needles and medical procedures seriously. The wait times were excessive, no one answers the phone, and even the medical assistant admitted the workplace was unfriendly. I called ahead. They told me that it could take 1 1/2 to 2 hours. They got me in half an hour. Everyone, from the medical staff, Diana, Jennifer, Erica, Saul and the attending physician were so patient and caring. They took good care of me and Saul even offered me snacks and water. This was much appreciated as I had not eaten all day. They even called me before I left the parking lot to give me an ice pack I had forgotten. The Dr. gave me a great treatment plan. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. Michelle, the receptionist, did not convey the same information she gave over the phone versus in person. I called twice to check on their wait-time as well as whether or not I could be seen if I arrived at a certain time. She said, "as long as you come 30 minutes before closing, we have to tend to the patients regardless." Upon my arrival, I was told they weren't taking any patients at all as they only have 1 provider in. I came well before 30 minutes before closing. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. This is a review of their urgent care service. I haven't received physical therapy here, so I can't speak to their PT services. I urgently needed to be seen as I suspected I may have had an ear infection, and I didn't want my symptoms to get worse while I was out of town. Breakdown of my visit: ~8:00am Checked in, provided my insurance info, completed paperwork, and paid my copay. ~9:00am The assistant got my vitals, medical history, and a brief reason my for visit. Seen by a nurse practitioner. ~9:30am Discharged Providers: My NP was really pleasant and very thorough which helped calm my worries. While I was waiting in the room, she popped her head in to kindly inform me she was wrapping up with the patient before me. She asked about my medical/surgical history and educated me on how managing my allergies can also affect my ear symptoms. Would not hesitant to visit Concentra again for future urgent care. Both the NP and assistant were very professional. Waiting area: Spacious with many seats available and a water cooler in the corner. Room: Very clean and modern with ample space. Parking: Plenty in a huge lot where the Shalimar and Smart & Final are. Tip: * Tell the front desk whether you're here for urgent care or physical therapy when you arrive. They were confused when I told them I was here for my ear. * The earlier you arrive, the less wait there is. I'm here for my physical exam, got in at 10:30AM, waited for about 30 mins then they sent a text msg saying I need to complete the questionnaires sent to my phone about my medical history, completed that in 3 minutes then I waited again. It's now 1 hour & 45 minutes & still hasn't been seen.. very frustrated.. bring a book or make sure you have enough juice in your phone so you'll find something else to do. Showed up to do a pre employement screening. Nurse tried twice and couldn't find a vein. Overall took 2 hours to see a Dr. Dr drew blood. It didn't make it to the lab on time. I was told they would make an appointment to go directly to quest diagnostics. They didn't. I can't call the place directly so I went back. I was told I would get a priority follow-up up. I didn't. Worst place to go! They will not take care of you! They will send you home and say you can go back to work the same day even after having a contusion/concussion! At work! They don't communicate with each other and every time you go back for a follow up you have to explain yourself again ! The care I received was quick and efficient. They were able to answer all my questions and I was able to walk in office without an appointment. I was able to schedule what office to take my drug screen and TB test; and was able to travel to Fremont office to get the reading done ñ, because they were a location open on Saturdays, so I was able to take care of my medical needs for my job as quickly as possible. read more

My first time visiting this place for some medical tests that is required by my employer. Worst experience ever. As soon as you walk in the receptionist will tell you to sign a bunch of forms with an additional online questionnaire. I understand that this is practical for registration but they do not even tell you what it is for. Their wait times are ridiculous as other reviewers have mentioned. The receptionist told me 2-3 hour wait. I do not mind waiting but I felt that 2-3 hours felt longer because no progress was made as there were about 10 patients waiting and some waited outside as seating was limited. Aside from poor service, the front desk named Fabiola seemed like she does not want to be there. I personally feel like she does not welcome patients upon arrival which is not good as first impressions matter. To add, I came here when they opened so she is just starting her day and I sympathize for all the other patients she will have an encounter with later that day. She needs to be reminded that she is the first point of contact when patients enter their center. In contrast, I did appreciate one medical assistant there and her name was Jordynn. All the waiting I did, I am glad she was able to assist me for my general tests such as tb and physical. Throughout the process she had positive energy and engaged with me. She deserves to work somewhere else that matches her personality and work ethic. Thank you Jordynn for making my experience a bit better. I came here yesterday morning (a Monday) at 8:45 am for a pre-employment drug test. The waiting area was so packed that it was unclear where the check-in line even was. I waited 45 minutes and didn't get checked-in during that time, so I left because I got lightheaded and almost fainted. The waiting area was stuffy and warm, and no one seemed to know what was going on. I didn't find a way to do an online appointment or check-in like Quest does; I think drug screens must be walk-in only which really sucks. It appears that this company tries to take on way too much at once; it's supposedly an Urgent Care clinic but they also do pre-employment physicals, workers comp cases, etc. No wonder they are swamped. In the end I requested that my employer send my paperwork elsewhere, and I went to the Union City location this morning. I got there 5 minutes before the clinic opened (at 8:00 am) just in case and there was already a small line outside. Thankfully, I was checked in within 5 minutes of them opening, and the waiting area had AC and water available. it still took another 35 minutes for me to be seen in the back, but they call you when they are ready so you can at least sit in the car. read more

Anything you see about the front desk being rude... it's true. I experienced it twice. The first time I was speaking to the receptionist. She mentioned that I needed to update my name on the online form because it was spelled wrong. Okay. She was explaining this to me while I was looking for the link on my phone to the form and did not hear this entirely. Once I found it, I asked again just to confirm what I was doing was correct. With attitude, the receptionist said, "Well it's spelled incorrectly on the form right." When I went into the exam room the PA completed my physical examination. But how her tone when giving me instructions was not friendly. She asked me about my bug bites and I was telling her a story about it. I thought "Wow! Someone is finally having a conversation with me like how my primary doctor does." The PA kept interrupting me and when it took me a while to step down from the examination bed, she repeated again in a rude way. I get it. It's Saturday. It's almost closing time. Again, I would have appreciated it if she communicated with me in a more respectful way. The only person who talked to me and treated me like a human was my MA. I didn't get her name but she was a blonde woman! The second time, I was getting a chest x-ray and before dressing into my gown, I had to share some information with my clinician. I went over to the front desk and asked politely if I could speak to the physician who checked me. The MA/receptionist had a demeaning tone and asked me why I needed to speak to the physician. I replied back saying "I wanted to share information with her that I did not previously share." The MA/receptionist again asked me why and I repeated my answer. She then responded, "Whatever you need to say to her doesn't change your results." I was in shock. Yes, what I might say to my physician might not change the results, but that response was unprofessional. It made me, the patient feel ignorant. I did not know why it was such a problem for me to speak to the physician. I understand that the clinic was busy, but I would have been okay with waiting if that was the case. Or if the MA/receptionist just kindly spoke to me explaining that I would still need to get a chest x-ray, I would have been okay with. But, I never got treated so terrible as a patient. Additionally, I saw no teamwork. The Asian man who helped me with my x-rays was frantically asking for help because he wanted to confirm if there was anything else that needed to be done before he discharged me. Mind you, he already clocked out for lunch. He was the only one that treated me respectfully. He asked for help from the 3 MAs/receptionists and asked him to check my chart. He asked who had my chart and no one knew (another problem). This poor man was running around to find my physician, MA, and chart when he clocked out for lunch already. I felt like he was the only person who cared. While I heard the 3 MAs/receptionists talking about a new grocery store at a location. I am aware that healthcare workers get treated poorly, work long hours, and are tired. That's why I am aware of my own tone and behaviors so I will speak to healthcare workers, and people in general, with respect. This was not reciprocated at Concentra Fremont. read more

I've been here three times and each time waited for over an hour to see the doctor, even though I had an appointment. Even the doctor said it was embarrassing. The staff do not seem to care. I had a question for my doctor and tried to call the office, but they never answered the phone. When I went there in person, the person at the front desk asked me if I tried sending an e-mail.
