On the same boat as the recent reviews with the insane amount of bills that were sent. On the bill, it says I received service on 07/21/2021, with the Description of Service being "Medical Services". I tried looking for any information such as going on the American Family Care Urgent Care website, and the Newark location isn't even displayed as a location under the company chain. I tried to see if I can view my "bill" on the website and it says that my information does not exist. I then searched up the website www.saloojasinc.com, and the description is comical. Looking at it, there are multiple sentences with random bold words, random upper cased letters, some of the sentences have misspelled words, and it's complete run on sentences. What kind of established place would post this kind of description? And why would we have to pay our bill through saloojasinc on their website, and not on the official one? The website that it is asking to pay online is www.paybalance.collect.com, making it suspicious. The mailed bill says that payment can only be made through phone and mail. It also does not even list a deadline of when this payment is supposedly due, just "Upon Receipt". It just screams scam to me. But just in case, I am going to check in with my health insurance and see if there is anything going on. I did make a visit at this location during that timeframe, but it's ridiculous that I'm getting this now. I urge everyone to do a little bit of research first and definitely contact your insurance about it. I wouldn't want anyone to panic pay for this bill. read more

Went in June of 2023 to AFC. And November of 2024 I received an invoice from "AED Urgent Care". As others have mentioned, they either need to hire a new billing team OR they are scamming patients. My guess is on the later. Seems like they changed their name from all the negative backlash of their extremely late invoicing practice. The bill they sent didn't even include my insurance. I have different insurance now so I was a bit stressed. Luckily, after a few calls with the insurance company I had last year they reassured me that it is on the urgent care to cover/eat the cost. AFC is in network with the insurance I had last year, and from their records they never ever submitted a claim. They most likely wait to bill so that the patients see the tight turnaround invoice deadline and panic pay. Be aware! Take the time to call the insurance company. It might take some time out of your day but it's so worth it to save from wasting hundreds of dollars. As of the care itself from this urgent care... not great. I waited 45 minutes (no one else was waiting). I didn't even get a call back of my results from the test. I'm still unclear if they ever even looked at my x-ray. read more

Be careful with this place. When you call, they tell you they can see you, but then you end up getting a bill because they are not actually in your insurance network--so definitely check with your insurance provider first. Long story short: they didn't treat my son at all, they made us waste valuable time when he needed care, and they still charged us 700 dollars for a visit that lasted about three minutes. Two years later, even though everything was already paid, they keep sending us bills, and despite the emails I've sent, nothing has been resolved. What makes it worse is that I had called ahead, explained my son's symptoms, and they still told me to come in, only for the doctor to say he couldn't treat him and to take him to the emergency room instead. I had a similar experience as most when it comes to billing. In 2020 I went in because I was feeling sick. At the time, I had Kaiser insurance with a high deductible which is why I chose to go to this urgent care. Because of my high deductible and knowing that this urgent care was OON, I chose to do their self pay option which was a set fee. I paid out of pocket that day and mentioned that I did not want them to bill my insurance (I don't even recall giving them my insurance information). 2 years later, I received a statement asking me to pay $300 out of pocket.. which was my responsibility after the Kaiser payment. I reached out multiple times to settle this statement and I was never able to speak to anyone. Every time I called I was met with long hold times or promises of receiving a callback - which never happened. Their billing practices are completely unethical. There is absolutely no way to get a straight answer from AFC. Dealing with AFC Urgent Care (Cullman location) has been like being trapped in a never-ending loop of hold music, vague promises, and blank stares. If you're hoping to get clear, direct, or -- heaven forbid -- helpful information from them, don't hold your breath. My wife went in on November 10, 2024, for a serious cat bite. She was treated, sent home with antibiotics, and everything seemed fine -- until the Health Department called a week later urging her to get a rabies shot immediately. A little late for a "just in case," don't you think? Then came the real circus: billing. Primary insurance: paid. CHAMPVA (our secondary insurance): denied the claim because AFC submitted it as a generic "office visit" -- with no supporting documentation for the actual care she received. So we called. Emailed. Wrote. Sent supporting documents. Explained the issue -- nine times. Even had the secondary insurer on the phone with AFC Billing. We were told once (just once!) that someone would "look into it and get it fixed." Incompetence is stark!!! Guess what? No fix. No update. No straight answers. Just recycled apologies, repeat mistakes, and the same old paper bill -- now sent out 10 times for a $35 balance that has surely cost AFC more to pursue than it's worth. Not my problem. I stand on principal and facts. To date, no one at AFC can tell me: How to reach their management. Why the same error keeps happening. Or how to actually get this resolved. It's like a black hole -- you send information in, and nothing ever comes out. If you call, you get a vague "we'll check on that" responses and empty promises. I've taken my daughter here a couple times for sports related injuries and this was the spot her pediatrician in Fremont recommended. They always asked for our insurance card and never asked for a copay. Almost a year from our very first visit I receive a bill for $800 and they didn't charge insurance. Not to mention the bill was under my underage daughter name and if you know ANYTHING about insurance the guarantor should be the insurance subsriber and an adult. This is OUTRAGEOUS. I just got a bill in the mail charging me $1,307 for a Covid test I got from 1/12/2021! 2021! That's 3.5 years ago.... Also at that time, all Covid tests were free or charge. Crazy thing is, they tried to bill me back in 2021, sometime after the test. I called them up disputing the charge and explained it should have been free. I visited AFC Urgent Care Newark (which may now be called AED I guess?) back in 2021 to get a covid nasal swab test. This place was recommended by my employer and ALL employees were required to get a covid test that returned negative before we could return to work. I just received a bill in the mail at the tail end of February 2025 for OVER $1,000! This does not include what the bill is in regards to and has one of the craziest service charges I've ever seen. To make matters even worse, I actually HELPED the owner with setting up new Dell PCs and printers a couple of years later and only billed the dude $150 for the work (I only helped because I also took my father here and my father spoke aboout how I work with computers for a living). So not only do I get a bill FOUR YEARS LATER but also for over four times the costs I billed him? Also before anyone asks, he was extremely late with paying me. I stopped responding to his calls and got a check in the mail. He had argued that "the work is half done, I'll pay you when it's completed". I didn't even really care about being paid at the end but I felt like my time was wasted. I am in firm agreement with everyone else when I caution ANYONE with visiting this place. Even the billing costs are inconsistent with some people reporting they got a $30 bill, some reporting they got a $500 bill, and now me reporting that I got a bill for over $1,000. This is highly deceptive, highly unethical, and highly illegal. It will also be reported to relevant government agencies. My Kaiser insurance covered the test fees, yet the facility initially claimed the cost was over $800. At the time of service, they stated that the COVID test was free and did not inform customers about any potential costs exceeding $800. Now, they are claiming that my insurance didn't cover enough and are charging me extra. This feels like a scam and is completely untrustworthy! Customers should be made aware of the costs upfront. I got the medical bill over $2,300 on the weekend. The same bill I got a month ago in which the covid test was done in 2020. I worked with the insurance company and they mentioned the grievance was not submitted within the required timeframe of 180 calendar days as indicated in your Evidence of Coverage (EOC); therefore, we are unable to review the request. I called the phone number which is a personal phone number and emailed to COLLECTIONS@SALOOJASINC.COM and never get response. OMG! Just like the many reviews on here, I just received a bill asking for to pay a balance of aprox $1000 for 3 Covid tests I and two family members had done in December 2020. First let me say I've done my research, and it is AGAINST the law to balance bill for Covid testing done during the pandemic, at least from March 2020 to January 2022. On top of that, I called my insurance and they told me the amount they paid as an out of network provider. My invoice from the corrupt Saloojas Inc, says my insurance only paid $176 but my insurance paid $540 for each of us! If you have insurance, call them and see how much they paid. This is a sham and a scam. Look up Senate Bill 510, in Califronia we the patients are not to be balanced billed if you had any Covid tests done during the Fed Emergency. I visited this facility to receive a vaccine for tetanus. The front desk told me that they accepted the insurance card that I had at the time-- but this does not mean that they will actually contact or use the insurance provided. More than a YEAR after my visit to AFC, I received a bill in the mail that totaled to nearly $1,230! The bill statement noted that they were charging me $578 for it being my first time visiting the urgent care center. It also stated that I was getting charged around $168 because I went on an evening/weekend?! This urgent care facility did not provide me with an upfront cost. Unless you would like to unknowingly receive extremely high charges in your mailbox a year later, I would suggest you to avoid coming here for any medical services. read more

Avoid this place at all costs unless you want to get blatantly scammed. I had conjunctivitis last year, and this was my quickest option to get it sorted. At the time, they took insurance and I had no issues getting seen and screened. I revisited the clinic months later for another issue and was told that they no longer take insurance (despite the fact the online appointment form asked for my insurance information.) I noted this, and never thought to return. Now, over a year later, I received an invoice in the mail for the services I received last September. What's even more humorous is the fact they sent the bill two days AFTER it was "due." This is ludicrous and I now have to go through the painstaking process of contacting my Insurance as well as my bank. It's so insane reading other people's similar experiences. I called them and was told that there was a "glitch" and they found that I hadn't made any payments (I was never notified about any bills prior to this). They also claimed they never received any payments from my insurance about this either (which is not true - my insurance did pay them for a portion of the cost of the visit).
