Here's my experience as a parent I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the lack of flexibility in the assignment of the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) for my son, who has been receiving services from your company reaching the two years mark. Our district contracted with your organization, and at the time of enrollment, we and our district were not made aware of the strict two-year contract policy that restricts the RBT from continuing to work with the same student. Allow me to provide some context. My son is a 17-year-old nonverbal individual with severe autism. He is extremely shy and requires a significant amount of time to build trust with someone before they can enter his personal space. Unfortunately, during my recent meeting with Dale Young, it became evident that no exceptions could be made to extend the contract of the current RBT with whom my son has developed a strong bond and trust. He kept stating that he firmly believes that it's important that they are able to work with others we agree as well we are seasoned parents. He's 17. There is rotation happening already in the classroom everyday. I just wanted him to have the best last two years of high school as possible and not have to have a transition happened twice. So at the end of the day, your company and Dale Young do not taken to consideration of the individual human. By this decision by Dale Young and your policy is going to cause extreme regression and depression anxiety on my 17 year-old son. I left the meeting with feeling like I was talking to a AI. We ABSOLUTELY LOVE ALISSA STOLZ. What a wonderful human being she is!!! She's been seeing my son Sinai for a few months now and she is truly what I've been seeking for so long. I struggle with the worst anxiety about my little guys speech delay (but only because I want him to be able to tell me what's wrong in case something's happened where he's not in my vicinity) He's happy as a little clam and is very social, not a nervous bone in his body. Rachael was absolutely amazing to work with. We started with her months before we had a diagnosis of autism and speech delay, and were able to keep her on our team for a year and half after. We started our process during covid and she was amazing as a parent coach on teletherapy. When we were able to meet in person our daughter's connection with Rachael really grew. Rachael (through her dedication to furthering her education) was able to identify our daughter as a Gestalt Language Processor. She was able to give us direction on how to support our daughter and also encouraged us to look more into AAC which has become a great tool of us. Rachael also initiated communication with our daughters teacher and school speech therapist so that everyone could be on the same page. She was professional, supportive, compassionate and I am so glad we found her. We miss seeing her every week! read more

We had a WONDERFUL experience here: Rachel H was our Speech Therapist for our then 2yo little guy. We started doing online therapy while in-person services weren't available due to Covid. To say it was hard on our 2yo (and us trying to help him through it) was a massive understatement. Yet every week Rachel was online (at 9am) bright eyed, full of new ideas on how to work with our kiddo, and ready to give our session her absolute best. At one point, after about 4m, we even asked her 'Is this worth still doing?' as we weren't really seeing much progress and we were getting really discouraged. She listened compassionately and gave us the encouragement and resources we needed to hang in there. Long story short, our now 3yo little guy does NOT. STOP. TALKING. Lol. He's 'graduated out' of services and is scoring off the charts in expressive language abilities (he had three words when he was 2yo). Rachel is great at parent education - helping us be as effective as possible with him at home in between sessions and you can feel how much she cares about each and every one of her clients. She's invested in and dedicated to child and family success and works exceptionally hard to make the kids' time with her engaging, rewarding, and fun. I can't recommend her highly enough, and we are so grateful that we got to have her on our 'team' to help get our kiddo where he needed to be. read more

He started in Berkeley, and it was worth the trip until the location in my city had an opening (Pittsburg) which was rather quickly and it was an easy transition. My 11 year old son recently completed about a year of therapy at the Speech Pathology Group. His therapist was Pamela who was professional, knowledgeable, and warm. She was so helpful with his speech issues, even noticing he may have an orthodontic issue. We went to an orthodontist and he did need some work which would have been much more extreme if we hadn't come in when we did! Thank you Pamela for not only the speech therapy but saving my son from more extensive work. The director Jill is also competent, friendly and very helpful. My son and I were always greeted by the receptionist and felt welcomed. All my interaction with support staff were pleasant. As far as other reviewers complaints regarding missed appointments - yes, they have a strict policy but it is only because there is a long waiting list for appointments. My husband and I weren't given much direction on what to do or how to approach this process but thanks to Kelly, we now have a MUCH better idea of what to do. I was referred to this place by a reputable doctor in the Bay Area. What a horrible experience. First of all, the receptionist (name begins with a "P") at the front desk always seems angry and not helpful. Because of this, we always felt tension when walking into the office. I dreaded visiting this place -- I can only imaging how my son must have felt. Once, she accused me of having an "attendance" problem after not attending a session because the therapist went away to a conference. It 's not my fault the therapist is out of the office. Secondly, the therapist (FM) was fine in the beginning, but when I tried to share some feedback from my son, she became very defensive. This was regarding her overly aggressive behavior towards my son, which made him shut down and not want to participate in the sessions thereafter. I understand that this is part of the therapy, however, everyone has a different breaking point. It was important that she realize she pushed him over the edge. She took this feedback personally, began to verbally attack me, and made it all about her. She was not interested in helping my son -- again, it was all about her. Instead of engaging in the blame game, I asked her, "Are you not willing to help my son resolve this conflict in his mind?" Her response was, "He can hate me if he wants!" After consulting with my son's developmental pediatrician, counselor, other experts, they were all equally shocked. I decided to have an individual session to help my son resolve this in his mind (that I paid for). I felt it went okay (remember, my goal was to resolve this conflict in my son's mind). The therapist said to think about next steps and decide if I wanted to continue with her or someone else. When I called back within three weeks, I was told by the nasty receptionist that I no longer have a spot and will be put on "an extensive waiting list". I think I've had enough. All of this could have easily avoided. It's too bad, since I had such high hopes for this place. We have since left and decided to go elsewhere. read more

We love the Speech Pathology Group! Our daughter (w/Autism& speech delay) has grown leaps and bounds since joining this group. In one session alone our therapist, Jill, was able to have our daughter communicate in a way my husband & I weren't able to do. Every week our daughter gets so excited to see Jill. She finds a way to accomplish speech goals by making the session work for her age in a fun and motivating way. It is so rewarding for our family to see her weekly progress. When our daughter finishes her session we get practical skills we can then apply at home. If we can help apply at home what is worked on during the session I feel like our daughter can truly benefit from a team effort. I'm so grateful that the office is so inviting for my other two younger children. The waiting room has activities for them to enjoy while we wait. The staff has always been professional and kind. Over the summer we participated in a summer camp program offered by SPG. I was excited my daughter had the opportunity to mainstream with peers her age that could model communication. I liked knowing there was a speech therapist there to facilitate language and play at the camp. I often recommend the SPG to our community looking for a speech therapist. I was refereed this contractor by Easter Seals in Oakland to help my son with his speech impairment. After I missed an appointment I received a "warning" from very rude lady P. saying that there were other people that were waiting in line to fill my spot, made me feel unimportant, threatened to drop my son if we missed again, was very rude on the phone every single time I dealt with her. This was by far the worst experience I ever had with any agency, It's hard to believe Kaiser would contract these people. My only goal is to help my son, not to argue with these people. read more

This place was amazing with helping my son correct some sounds that he was having difficulty with. The progress that he has made is amazing - he has come so far - and they always managed to make it fun for him- fun games and ways to make speech class fun. For the past seven months, my 2.5 year old son has been seeing speech pathologist Molly, and has improved greatly through that time. Molly has so much patience and follows my son's lead so he doesn't get frustrated. She also listens to my needs, which is very helpful to me as a parent. Molly has worked outside our sessions to help seek more help for my son through different programs. Molly and Speech Pathology Group director Jill are very engaged and caring; they have even started a speech support group that meets every other month so the parents can discuss concerns and share resources. They have brought in professionals to speak, such as occupational and clinical therapists. My son started speech therapy in pre-school under his school district and the therapist was just too overwhelmed with too many children so in my opinion my son did not receive the help he needed. We started with The Speech Pathology Group and the first year was bumpy with the first speech therapist (who is no longer at this location) who was easily offended by my questions or concerns. We moved on to Jessica AKA Jessie who has been an AMAZING therapist for my son. She really finds a way to connect with my son to get the best out of him even when he is being a bit lazy. At first we were not given hand outs but that has changed and I feel that the hand outs are really helping my son.When we first began a lot of the therapist would speak to the parents about the sessions out in the reception room but that has changed and we are called in to the back which I really appreciate. I really like how much information Jessie gives and how receptive she is of any concerns I have. Overall I'm really happy with Jessie, my son loves going to speech therapy and he really loves Jessie. I also want to mention how wonderful the receptionist Veronica is. She knows us by name and is so friendly. She really brightens the office with her positive energy. I was referred to Speech Pathology Group for speech therapy for my child. In going there I found out they had Social group services also and I decided to have my child attend the Social group instead. So far the Social group has helped my child in his ability to feel more comfortable with his peers and his ability to interact more in class. Also, Lisa Cameron. has been very helpful in working with my child and doing some further in depth speech languange evaluations on helping identifying my childs learning weaknesses. Our grandson has been going to SPG for about a year and 1/2 and his progress has been remarkable. When he began, just before turning 3, his language was delayed and his focus was poor. In just a few months, the floodgates opened and the words started pouring out. He and his therapist Kate have a wonderful bond. She knows how to get him to do the work he needs to do by keeping the session moving & mixing up the activities. She finds special books and games that she knows will excite and delight him and she always makes it fun. Kate sets goals for him in conjunction with the family, and as he progresses, she moves the bar and sets new goals. We couldn't be more pleased with his treatment & progress.
