I used to be a camper here for one summer and when we were leaving to the annual camping trip in the Oakland hills our counselor left our entire group in a locked van for almost 45 mins in over 90 degree heat. I remember one or two people had luckily filled their water bottles or I think it would have been a lot different. When we got to the camp site we set up tarps and just put our sleeping bags on them with no cover. In the morning a bunch of white spiders were crawling on everyone and got in all of our bags. On that trip that gave us salad from a literal trash bag. read more

My son and daughter attended ADC 2005-2011. They loved it so much that they plan their summers around their ADC schedules. My son attended the overnight camp Pura Vida at the end of the summer and claimed that it was the best two weeks of his whole year back then. ADC is definitely a fun, educational, activity filled program sure to keep your children busy with positive learning experiences for the summer! I highly recommend it. read more

We were ADC campers for 8 years. In the summer of 2019, we prepaid for the summer of 2020. ADC is hosted at the 7Hills School. 7 Hills is an amazing facility with lots of things for kids to do. Due to Covid, 7 Hills did not allow ADC to use their facility. ADC then rented out a shoddy little church to use as the camp facility. The facilities were in no way comparable. And ADC wanted the same (very high) tuition. We asked for a refund AFTER ADC unilaterally changed the location and terms of our agreement. This kicked off a round of fighting where ADC wanted to keep our money. After much arguing, we eventually got most of the tuition back. ADC kept $184. Mind you, our daughter did not spend a single second at camp in 2020. Had we gone to a court of law, we would have gotten our $184 back. But Kevin and ADC must incur the reputational damage of their decision. Buyer Beware! I would take my money elsewhere. read more

We had our first ADC experience this summer and sent our 5 y/o who is typically shy and has some social anxiety. We weren't sure how things would go, especially with Covid protocols etc. Our son fell in love with ADC immediately and was so excited to go back every day! He was so comfortable there which speaks volumes to the staff and experiences at the camp. There are many unique activities including horse back riding, archery, rock climbing - our son LOVES sports so we we're thrilled there was so much bball, hockey, etc. The staff took careful measures to keep the kids safe and appreciated they took it so seriously. We enrolled in session 1 to see how it would go and ended up sending him to all 3 sessions. Thank you Kevin and the ADC staff. We will be back next year! read more

Even if we had to drive to Moraga, our son was happy to go. We love the activities they offer. But for what we paid we were not happy pan out kids that were bullying to our kid, it was his first time, and we asked in advance to please help our kid to orientation cause never went there. We asked to help for toilet routine. Unfortunately who's hired to stay with them are young, they don't even know how to take care of kids. Especially one was screaming at our kid group, and at one point he was scared to go to a place that I suppose has to be fun for everyone, he became scared of even asking to go to the toilet, and we have found the kid with pee and Pooh l. That's just a shame !! I believe that Kevin never knew it even if we asked to talk to him that's was not change to be contacted by him too. It was disappointing because they have the responsibility of every child that attend the day camp, they stay all the day there, Kevin should work better on that, be sure that who's hired for summer even if young thay have to be well mannered not screaming at kids first of all! Not bullish allowed, if this year, that we are giving them another chance it will happens we will sue them! Don't just take the money and allow young people to be whoever with little one!!! Not even mention that every day our kid didn't eat there, because it was another peer pushing him and let his food fall on the ground. I grow up and lived day camp when I was a kid, but those one who stayed with us really teaches us how to behave, respect each other, and helped us to be friends, that team Group is always better, it's not about playing and that's it, games and all the activities have the same goals, learn how to deal with others, make friend, be a nice group and have fun. Don't take just the money and cause even trauma! I hope Kevin will work better on that and check properly who to hire for the next adventure day camp. read more

It is finally time to give ADC and Kevin the 5 star review they deserve. This is my 10 year old daughter's fourth summer at ADC. She absolutely loves every single minute of every day, including the bus pick up and drop off! She does 6 weeks of camp and it is never enough, she wants all 3 sessions! I love hearing her explain her camp experience to her friends, which always ends with AWESOME!!!! Kevin, is fully engaged and eager to communicate. His love of what he does comes across in how the camp is run. It is FUN and it is done expertly. For the last two years my 14 year old step daughter joined as a pre CIT and then a CIT. Kevin and his team went out of his way to make her feel comfortable, help and guide her to be the best CIT she could be and she really enjoyed it. It was a lot of work for her but also very enjoyable and rewarding. I cannot give enough emphasis on how amazing I think this camp is. My two girls (4 and 6) just finished up a 3 week session. They both had an amazing time and were excited to come every single day. The camp did an excellent job keeping the kids safe. All the counselors wore masks and they kept safety protocols in place at drop off and pickup. The camp is a 30 minute drive for us each way and we picked it purely because they had space for both my kids and we were scrambling to find something after the shelter in place was lifted. My two daughters LOVE ADC! My older daughter is finishing up her 3rd year and my younger daughter is wrapping up her 2nd year. They've both attended several camps which are all great but ADC is superior in that there is variety (swimming, horseback riding, archery, boating, cards and games, arts & crafts). We've had numerous friends join in the camp fun over the years & we're grateful they've found a way to make it happen safely in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. My son LOVED ADC last summer so much so that I changed around his camp schedule so that he could go back to ADC for a second session. This summer, ADC was the only camp he wanted to go back to (the others were fine...but not didn't inspire his loyalty and undying love). Last summer, he had just finished K and loved taking the bus as well as the overnight camping trip...he can't want to do it all again...along with horseback riding, swim lessons, rock climbing and much more. UPDATE: 7/12/2001 My son, now almost 7, went again this summer to the first session and is about to start 3rd session. His only disappointment is that his counselor from last year had taken a full time job (at Google, good for him!!). After a day or two, he loved his new counselor and was off to the races again! I don't often take the time to post reviews, but I was so impressed with Adventure Day Camp and wanted to thank them for an amazing summer experience for my kids. I have 5yo and 8yo boys that are very clear when they do (or don't) like something and they very clearly stated that they want to return to ADC next summer. Every single staff person that we encountered was kind, polite and helpful. Every activity was well run and the communication to parents was clear. Great, Great summer program for all ages. We sent our 5 year old there last year for 3 weeks and she loved it. This year her younger 3 1/2 year old sister will be joining her. ADC is a total gem! My daughter has been going since she was 4 years old and CANNOT wait for summer to roll around every year so she can return and have a total blast. The staff know what they're doing, they're super fun and nice. She comes home the first day or two every summer wanting to be like her "campselor" and I think that is awesome! Imitation is the highest form of flattery, yes? :) ADC offers so much there really is something for every kid - sports (including rock climbing!), arts and crafts, canoeing/kayaking/sailing, horse back riding, swimming and so much more I can't even list it all! They offer bus transpo for those who don't live in or near Walnut Creek, which is super convenient for those families with 2 working parents. WE LOVE ADC!!! read more

My sons, 14 and 10 now, have gone to ADC all but one summer since 2006. This year, my 14 year old will be a CIT! They have both loved all the campy activities, the spirit, now the beautiful new campus at 7 Hills, the friends they've made, and generally the whole feel of the place. I'VE loved Kevin, who is a really down home guy, a pleasure to work with, and really just a big kid himself. The boys love him too, and with his energy and influence, the camp is staffed with energetic and smart young adults and teens, making for a wonderful summer for kids, at a price that doesn't force you to take out a loan! read more

This is a great camp! The staff is fabulous, enthusiastic and kind. The activities are fun and range from biking to horseback riding to swimming and sailing and arts and crafts. They do a fun overnight each session. There is a great bus service. The only drawback with this camp is that it is in Walnut Creek and it can get very hot there during the summer days. My kids are willing to put up with the heat in exchange for all the fun! read more

Our daughter went to Adventure Day Camp last summer and I cannot say enough about how happy she was to go to camp everyday. This was her first summer camp experience and Kevin and his staff made it a truly memorable one for her. There are a variety of activities available that kept her engaged throughout the day. The staff was extremely attentive and I felt confident that our daughter was well taken care of throughout the day. We did not do the overnight session last summer, but we are looking forward to doing it this year as we have heard so many great things. My child has been going to Adventure Day since the summer after kindergarten. That was almost seven years ago!! The camp is so well-run - it's fun, with lots of terrific activities, and warm, enthusiastic staff, but what really sets it apart is how well-organized it is. Not only is the heart in the right place, the head is too!! Two years ago, my niece, then 12 years old, came out for the summer and stayed with us and went to ADC. She's shy, knew no one - and had a blast. As for me, I love the bus service. My child loves the bus (a real yellow school bus!!) and loves, loves, loves everything else -- even now that he is almost a teenager. read more

We moved here last year and since we were in a small temporary apt we needed a camp to get the boys out and to start their California life off on a positive note. They LOVED this camp. Now we have a house with a pool and lots of fun summer space but they still want to go back to ADC. They are so excited. Their favorite part of the three weeks is the sleep over night. I love the camp because all the kids seem to be SO genuinely happy there. Even the kids in charge seem to be having a blast. We have had no bullying incidents, which we had at a previous camp so that is great. And the busing is fabulous for me since we live way in Pleasanton. We take the bus from Dublin. Cant say a bad thing about the camp. You will not regret sending your kids here. read more

Kevin runs an exceptional program that offers campers a huge variety of activites and experiences from which to choose. His staff is made up mostly of former campers (a strong testament to the quality of the program in itself). They are super engaged and do a great job making sure that each and every child feels welcome and included. The facility at Seven Hills School is a great setting, and the proximity to Heather Farms Park and all of its resources is ideal. My son, Lucas, has been going to this camp since kindergarten and he loves it so much that other camps we have sent him to have been a big disappointment. This was our 6-year old son's first summer at ADC and he attended the entire program (3 sessions, 3 weeks each). He absolutely loved each day of camp and can't wait to return. I can't rave enough about ADC, including the incredible owners/directors and staff, wide variety of activities, excellent communication with families, flexibility, an optional overnight camp out each session (our son loved each one!!!), opportunities to perform in front of the camp (including a lip sync each session where the parents can watch), an amazing optional meal program through School Foodies that offers a variety healthy, organic choices each day, a pizza option on Fridays from Extreme Pizza (which we love), and I could go on and on! Also, I was never worried about safety on the bus rides or at camp, including the overnights. Our son is only 6, but I won't be surprised if he wants to be a counselor at ADC when he's old enough!
