Whatever you do stay away from these guys do not hire them. Do not believe the other reviews. I spent so much money with them and then after four months things started going bad pavers started sinking very deep beyond 2 inches rust spot already on the bottom of the pool pool light does not work already. My husband and I purchased our house in 2018, we were told the drains were clogged by previous owners and that they had a plumber estimated 100$ to clear them. Well, we had three pumbers come out and said the drain pipes needed to be replaced which meant new concrete. It wasn't until the rainy season came and our backyard flooded so high it would come into the house (I'm talking 5 inches of water flooding) that we realized we needed something done. I looked for the highest reviewed companies to come out and give estimates. We proceeded forward with So Cal Pools who was able to begin the job a week afterwards. They estimated 2 weeks for complete new concrete, pipes and redo of the pool. We also got a love seat added in pool, decorative tile on seats, removal of a raised concrete area, stamped concrete which is more pleasing to the eye, new LED lighting, conduit for electrical in case we want to add a manufactured jacuzzi in the corner later. Everything went very smoothly and was completed on time. Previously it was Nathan who owned doing the pool work and Brady who owned the concrete work. NOW Brady owns everything (which is the best possible thing that could have happened for the company!) Brady is so honest, compassionate and constantly communicates during the process and even afterwards! There was never a single time he didn't reply to a text or call me back within an hour, no matter the time. I was pregnant during the work, and my husband was in Thailand, and there was a couple days that Brady brought food for his crew he got me some also (who does that?!?! Only the nicest of people). 5 star service and quality. The mini pebble aqua blue is nice with tiny shells and blue glass beads. They installed it to where its not rough like other pebble I've felt. It actually feels nice! There is a huge team of workers and they got my pool and spa done in about a week. I had a concern about the grout color for my tile. We needed an old pool refinished. Brady didn't try to push any extras on us, try to up sell us on more expensive options or say that everything needed to be replaced. We didn't have our own pool guy so for the start up chemicals Brady gave us a recommendation and he was also amazing. I really can't understand these recent reviews for this company. All his phones have full mail boxes, and no one will answer my emails or messages. I hired Brady to redo an older pool on June 14. He wanted half of the bid up front and the rest at the end of the job, as stated in the contract. His crew came and worked a few half days cleaning up very nicely each day. After getting visits and quotes from over half a dozen companies, my husband and I decided to go with SoCal Pools because: Nathan's quote came in 33% less than most of the others, he was knowledgeable about the work, he welcomed questions and the discussion of ideas, and he was personable and friendly. In addition, with expensive projects like this, it's important to me that I "click" with my contractors; I'm a high maintenance client and I need to feel like I can trust and rely on them (without annoying them)... We knew we wanted to remodel the pool and when we found out we were expecting, there was suddenly a timeframe around "when." We needed everything done before our baby came. Nathan took the time to walk us through what to expect, helped us select materials and colors, and stayed in contact throughout the project, even doing some of the work himself. His team, including Mario, his project manager, were courteous, efficient, and friendly. The end result was better than I had imagined. I was about to leave a 2 star review for SoCal Pools when I read that Brady now runs the company? If this is true, I am absolutely going to give them another chance! In 2017, We hired Nathan to do a complete remodel of an OLD pool we inherited when we bought our home. Brady, who ran the cement company at the time, was the ONLY redeeming and pleasant part of the process. I'm giving a temporary 3 stars for now in the hopes that Brady will come through where Nathan did not. It was seriously so unpleasant dealing with Nathan that I'd almost given up on calling them back to fix a few snags that we discovered within the first year of pool completion (which they were made aware of almost 2 years ago). I hired Nathan (no longer with the company) and Mario. Nathan was always high and late to meetings but likeable and knew what he was talking about. Mario and his guys did the work and it looked good but for two things. First, they screwed up when filling the pool and blew up the filter so that all the white and brown cloudy junk got all over our pool, made our pool dirty and disgusting even before our first swim in new fresh water. Second, after the water had filtered itself clean (at least in appearance), the brown stained the pebbleteck that we had paid for so that there was brown permanently in the steps. Third, and most recently, rebard stain....rust stains started showing. I texted and called Mario numerous times. He sent a guy out to take a look finally but after that radio silence. They do an ok job up front but do not finish the job or take care of mistakes. read more

Let me first start off by saying Nathan and his crews are the epitome of what a business should be. Nate, who is a military veteran, started this company after his marine corps service.... on his own and through many years acquired a good group of guys; assembling some great crews. Nate's a laid-back surfer looking kind a guy but don't let that fool. He is extremely knowledgeable, motivated, experienced and knows what he's doing. The surfer look does come in handy, allowing him an approachable exterior and very genuine way of forging relationships. His knowledge and ability to communicate the processes and steps involved really help in gaining perspective on the job and task at hand, allowing you to make a good informed decision. There are no strong sales tactics and his prices are more than reasonable (I strongly suggest you include him as one of your bids for your next pool project.) For my project the plaster in my pool had long since rotted and it was time to have my entire pool redone. Went with a Pebble-Tec resurfacing and could not be happier! Once I elected to go with his company on this.... They got to work. They drained my pool and sent in the demolition crew. These gentleman were extremely fast respectful and efficient. They were done in a matter of hours and left my backyard cleaner than they found it! The plaster crew came in the next day and the process was completed in the same professional manner. The crews were extremely nice and courteous and I could not of asked for more. They were a well oil machine and knew exactly what they were doing while taking the time to mask everything off and make sure they left everything they were not working on untouched and clean. These guys were phenomenal and over-the-top and I cannot say better things about them other than these are the guys you want on your pool regardless of the size. Nate checked in throughout the process answered all of my questions and went above and beyond what I had asked for and repairing my light bezel and skimmer surfacing issues. You can't get much better than this type of service. Just as a good restaurant bar or pub has a parking lot that is full and lots of patrons sometimes and lines to wait in.... At times Nate can get busy and not return my call immediately... However he always got back to me later same day. You don't want to bartender you can talk to you all night long because he has nobody else to serve.... just as you don't want to pull up to a restaurant and have nobody waiting in line. Excellence is popular and sought after.... Nate and his crews can get busy at times... but will make it a priority to take care of you at every turn. We chose a good time of year to do the remodel (March) and we were completely done within a few weeks, and even that timeframe was impacted by rain delays. When we wanted some changes to the rock coping, Nathan graciously agreed to make the change. His workers were professional, friendly, neat and punctual. I was looking for pool construction companies to do the following work: -New tile -New coping -Spa Extension -Baja Step addition -New concrete -New Patio tile -Replace plaster with Pebble -Re-Plumb spa -Add dedicated vacuum line -Add Auto-fill line -Replace Pool Equipment (Heater and Filter) My home was built in the '70's and I had a decent size pool with a tiny spa. I wanted to expand and raise my spa, and add a Baja step. I got 7 in home estimates including Nathan from So Cal Pools Plus. Out of the estimates I received, Nathan's was cheaper by 30% of all others received (One company said it would cost $90,000 for what I wanted). Nathan's bid actually made me nervous, because like most things "you get what you pay for". I decided to go with Nathan's company for a few reasons. First and foremost, his bid was much cheaper than anyone else. I felt comfortable because Nathan really knew what he was talking about. He had suggestions on how to improve my project, and I got the feeling he was very knowledgeable. Not to mention he is a military veteran, which also made it an easier decision for me. There were a few snags in the project that we had to deal with. The concrete demolition took a little longer than expected, but Nathan assured me it would not postpone the project. Also, when the pebble was put in, there was a miscommunication about trim tile. Even with the few issues we encountered, I give Nathan and So Cal Pools a 5-star rating because they made everything right and made sure I was happy with the final outcome. He went above and beyond in customer service, and I love my pool and backyard. I do want to make sure and give credit to Mario for the plumbing work that was done. Mario is a true professional and the work he did is awesome. He improved the circulation in my pool, and made my vision into reality. Cesar is also someone worth mentioning. Nathan D was a nightmare, wolf in sheep's clothing, rude, inconsiderate and an inadequate business person. The subs were terrible and I had many problems after the job (pool remodel and hardscape) was finished with the plumbing and electrical, Mario's skill set is not up to par and i had to call the pool heater company to fix issues. He was just unresponsive when we complained. Some of my patio steps were not done to code and I complained for a year and was about to file at small claims when they finally sent their new guy Brady ( who was the best part of my experience with the project) to fix the problems. Freakin aye! *throws tomatoes* I have been maintaining my pool on my own for over 7 years and I'll admit I'm pretty darn good. Hey I need to brag okay! Let me have my moment. Until now--I couldn't get my pool out of a pretty jade green color. I tried and tried to balance my PH and every week it would spike back up. Not to mention my chlorine would be shot (0) in a week, even after dumping 3-4 gallons weekly. That's a lotta mula!!!$$ I spoke with Nathan and he walked me through what I was doing wrong, what to do to fix the issue, and a pointer after I clear this green giant mess. My family had a leak detection done and found that all the old copper plumbing was leaking and was just too much to repair. We called quan and he was confusing and while we thought he was nice he was very expensive, the local store in downey was about $500 cheaper so we went with them almost 5k in repairs... a week into the repair they stopped showing up. Nothing was done productive but our yard was trashed and pool turning green. We called socal pools plus nate came the next day and three days later our pool was replumbed. We saved $1500, and they even shocked the algae and got our pool functioning and clean again. facts : we paid $3500. Everyone else was over $5k. Nathan was friendly and on time. Looks like a recurring theme here if you read past low star reviews from other yelp reviewers. This company seems to drop the ball on communication. I made an appointment to get an estimate regarding pool repair today for 4pm. I work aproximately 1hr away so I was glad I was able to make my appointment. Nobody showed up as well as no call. I proceeded to call the company to find out if they are still coming but only voice msg would activate, of course their voice msg box is full so I cant leave any msgs. WOW! If you have a pool, call these guys ASAP! I contacted Nathan at SoCal Pools Plus about my in-ground pool that I had let go green (ick) over the winter months. I figured I'd have the pros clear it up, then I'd start my own maintenance again with the fresh start. After working on it for 4-5 days, the verdict was that there was too much algae built up in the water and on the surfaces. The only option was to drain it, clean it, and refill it. Nathan assured me this was truly the "last resort" and they don't quickly opt for using so much water these days. I went with their recommendation and the job was completed very quickly. Today the pool is sparkling clear and clean. They gained so much of my trust, I decided to have them replace my 20 year old pump and filter system. They provided and installed a new high-efficiency pump and refurbished filter, both of which are working 1000 times better than my old set up. And, realizing my own pool-care deficiencies in all this, I have also booked them to come by and do weekly maintenance. They completely earned my trust, my business and this glowing review! They provide great service at very fair (if not low) prices, and always keep the environment in mind, both qualities I like to reward with my business choices. After reading a lot of yelp reviews and interviewing another 4-5 contractors we choose a So Cal Pools and very happy so far. My experience with SoCal Pools started out very well. Nathan treated us well, listened, promised to deliver and he did. We did mini pebbles Aqua blue with editing sparkles stones around a pool and spa. Looks nice. Nathan took plenty of time, over the course of several appointments, to help us design our pool with the decorative options we wanted, always kept us informed of what was coming next and when. No surprises. The sub contractors he uses were ALL great, HARD working people, on time 100% and kept a clean as possible. ( I liked a guy who did TILE work- great job). Price was fair and affordable.
