Dr Brown has been practicing for decades and really knows his stuff. Not only that, he's patient and attentive and takes the time to listen to your concerns and tell you adjustments that need to be made outside in your everyday life for a happy healthy spine. His technique is a Hands-On approach ranging from adjustments to a gentle weighted balance which helps your spine realign. He always knows what's out of whack when he touches my neck or my back and I feel it too. The moment I'm on the table and he touches it I think to myself "Jeez! I've been walking around with that!?" I have no prior experience with chiropractics but I was scared out of my wits by the manipulation by Steve Brown. Years before, a friend of mine was BADLY hurt as a result of another chiropractic manipulation by a well known chiropractor in Harvard Sq (Pope I think was his name). From what ive gathered, chiropractics is very loosely regulated and if it works for 'minor resets' I definitely would NOT recommend it for serious injuries, or at least not as I saw it performed by S. Brown or this other aforementioned person.

You know when you want them to spend little more time in one particular spot or just go a bit deeper to work out that knot and they DON'T??? With Brian you don't even have to ask. He assess your body, posture etc. and will know exactly what spots he needs to focus on to get you balanced and pain free. Over the years he seems to have developed his own unique technique that is one part deep tissue, one part chiropractic and with a dash of Thai massage (in that he isn't against throwing you over his shoulder and squeezing you in all the right spots down your back. Though that might just be for special/ long time customers. I doubt he will do that for the newbies in fear of scaring you away) Basically he is most concerned with your muscles in relation to your skeleton and will first assess your entire body to see where you are out of balance. So for example, he will check to see if one shoulder is higher than the other (it probably is) and will even look at your face to check for imbalances. But be forewarned-he will bring the "it hurts so good" pain so get ready-cause the pay off is well worth it. I had 3 herniated discs when I came to see Brian. Since then, I haven't had major pain (I see him 2-4 times a month).. My posture has improved and I feel stronger and more flexible now than I have in years. I even hurt my formerly twice dislocated knee recently and went to see him before I saw a 'real' doctor and Brian made it all better... :) :) I think a good way to describe Brian's style is alternative medicine without the nonsense.. He's very knowledgeable: knows all the muscle groups by name, where they connect.. he knows the meridians, understands chiropractor work, has experience with many different massaging styles.. He is really, really strong, and can go as hard and deep as you want!! In short: I have looked for years for someone that goes hard when I ask, and who doesn't leave me feeling like a got a really expensive 'back rub'. Brian is so in-tune with the body and really cares.
