She has an incredible intuition for the body--every movement felt intentional, thoughtful, and perfectly timed. Mey took the time to understand my needs and adjusted the pressure seamlessly, blending traditional Thai techniques with deep, restorative work that brought both relief and relaxation. What truly sets Mey apart is her skill and care. She has a rare ability to find exactly where tension lives and release it in a way that feels both powerful and nurturing. I left feeling lighter, more aligned, and genuinely renewed--both physically and mentally. It was clear that she takes pride in her craft and approaches her work with deep respect and expertise. If you're looking for a Thai massage therapist who is highly skilled, attentive, and truly exceptional at what she does, Mey is absolutely the one. The studio is right in Arlington Center in a historical building (a former Inn), so it's walking distance from my house. Before my massage in Ammon requested that I fill out an online form. Based on my responses, he emailed me just to make sure his preferred massage oil would be OK for me. I really appreciate that level of attention to detail. We discovered that we know some of the same people, and have both been in the music and art scene in Boston for decades. Ammon is a great conversationalist, he is a creative polymath, and his style of massage works well for me. He relieved some of my shoulder pain (I'll need a few more sessions probably). I walked into the massage room with hip pain and walked home without it. That says something. I highly recommend making an appointment!

I also saw a chiropractor who told me that I was healing and to just give it time. But it kept recurring. While I am active, I would not consider myself an athlete. My first appointment was my first massage in five years after a bad experience with another vendor. Michael explained everything, made sure I was comfortable and was incredibly professional. He helped coach me through breathing properly to help the massage be fully effective. He also explained to me at the end stretches and foam rolling that I could do to help prevent the recurrence of the pinched nerve. Additionally he explained to me the muscles that were weak, which were helping the injury to reoccur. I wrote it down and started a regimen of those exercises to correct those muscle imbalances. Some things to note on Covid: He wears a mask the entire time, as do you. I feel very safe in his office. I know that he follows various protocols including temp checks, sanitizing, etc. Some things to note if you're used to massage envy or a fancy, bougie spa. This is a sports massage, your muscles are going to go through a bit of a beating. You will feel amazing afterward but this is isn't an aromatherapy situation where someone is lightly dropping scented oil on you. It's intense. ***If you are looking to listen to spa music, close your eyes and drift off, this is not the right choice, nor is any sports massage really.*** I think most of the negative reviews are because that is the experience folks are expecting. If you're looking to relax your muscles, gain mobility, understand your muscles and feel better this is the place.!!!

However, I like to get my massages outside of the work place and after my first therapist wrecked his wrists in a biking accident I had to go searching for a new one, and search I did! I went to on in JP, the person chanted over me. I almost jumped my naked ass right up off the bed and out the door. I think the monsoon that was going on outside kept my ass on the table! Then I went to various places in the Back Bay. I mean really, how many salons are there on Newbury Street! We could list many of them, but I will not do so. I will tell you this though, when I get a massage I want it to be firm, I want it to get my knots out, I want to feel like I had some work done, not just have a few light touches here and there, and I'd also like a therapist to listen to my needs and take them into consideration while I am being worked on. Not just follow a model of massage they might have learned in school or from their spa instructor, and I think that's what John is perfect at, listening and detailing the areas of your body that needs the most work! I have never left feeling more refreshed and happy! I must also say, his space has enough room to do the tango if you wanted. NO cramped room here with a bed jutting out of a corner, oh no it's a very mellow, inviting space that allows you to breath and feel comfortable, as well as a different selection of music if that lazy spa music isn't your thing!! And if you give him a try, I believe your first visit is discounted, so make sure you ask about that! All in all, a 5 star experience if I've ever had one and look forward to my next visit this coming Monday!!

This is really hard to find. Most massages just aren't that satisfying, and until I met Joe, the only massage therapist I really liked was in St. Maarten. Not exactly convenient for this Brookline girl. I met Joe by chance two years ago when he provided chair massages at work for a group of us working on a big project (same company as Freya H, who reviewed Joe previously). I do not like chair massages. I think they're completely unsatisfying--no benefit to my muscles and just a waste of time. But after three people independently told me how incredible Joe was for their chair massage, I signed up for a spot. And WOW. I wouldn't describe it as a chair massage but more like a massage that happens to be on a chair rather than a table. I was grunting like Claire Dunphy in the massage chair at the mall. Joe came weekly for several months while the project continued, and I never missed an opportunity to have him work the stress and tension from my muscles. After the chair massages in the office ended, I started making the journey to Quincy to see Joe. Totally worth it. He's my guy. Awesome massages and just an overall nice, affable person.
