Overall, very cheap and usually a pretty good massage. The masseuses don't speak very much English but that's not usually been an issue. I've had fine experiences except for my recent visit, which I feel obligated to share about so others don't go through the same thing. I asked for a deep tissue massage. It was probably the deepest massage I've ever gotten. Partway through, I could feel my skin starting to react to some oil. Then the masseuse Gail brought something out which felt like a rod and she kept pushing it against where my spine meets my neck. It was starting to get painful and overkill but then the hour was up. After the appointment, she kept saying my shoulder skin was very hard - when I felt it, I realized the whole area was simply swollen (perhaps an allergic reaction). Maybe that's what she interpreted that as a muscle issue - which she should have known better about - and that's why she went to town with the painful wooden stick (again, way too many times). I still paid $70 because she clearly worked hard. I went home and immediately saw my back was red, bruised, swollen, and my neck area had some sticky pus-y rash. I iced it for hours. Over the next two days, my neck area became infected with what is likely a second degree skin burn, according to a medical doctor friend. I've never asked for a refund for a massage before, but this time I tried. When I went back to the location, the one woman there would not give me any phone number when I tried to explain the issue and just kept repeating "make appointment online" before shutting the door. It was at first difficult to get through to any management to make a complaint - their local phone numbers, etc. only asked for a voicemail. EDIT: Management reached out to me via call that same day and they were able to offer me a refund. It's usually comp'd as a free massage for next time but they accommodated my request for a check since I will not be visiting Massage Ultra again. Overall, the masseuses do a good job and it is definitely worth the price. Beware of communication issues though so hopefully this type of accident doesn't happen to you.

Mandarin Healing Spa's good reviews were promising but the massage was one of the worst I've had in recent memory. First, my masseuse was extremely rough, almost sloppy, in terms of technique. There were several parts where she was just raking her elbow or her fist on my back mechanically instead of working out the knots/kinks. I'm not necessarily looking for Mandarin Oriental-level of care but I didn't care for the sensation of feeling like a dummy being whaled on. And I mean that literally - she was actually punching me at one point. Hygiene was also an issue. From the constant sniffles, it sounded like she had a cold and even sneezed but kept right on going (here's hoping she sneezed into her elbow and not on her hands ... still, you should go wash your hands). The bed itself was not comfortable. Again, not expecting a ton out of a no-frills spot but I do prefer not to have particle board under the head rest digging into my cheek. When I checked the mirror afterwards, I had a lovely vertical indent going down my face. The interaction at the end left an incredibly bad taste in my mouth. They're incredibly insistent that you pay the tip, if not the whole amount, in cash, which I can understand with very small businesses but I also would've appreciated a heads-up on the phone when I booked that using a credit card adds an extra $3.75 to the cost. Also, the manager was very pushy in asking for a 25% tip ($20 for a mediocre 60-minute $80 massage) and kept saying how most customers do $20 for an even $100. Regardless of how true that may be, a customer should be allowed to tip however much they want based on the experience they received, and, if it weren't for my desperation to take a shower and wash the germs off me, I would have stood firm. I've never had someone outright demand a higher tip and it was enough to make me never want to go back. Waste of $100.

She worked diligently on specific parts and had nice firm pressure. She was professional and attentive to my needs. I had many many massages in my years and I must say she the only one who really knows how to get into the knots and kinks and she stays there for a while before moving to other body parts which is a huge plus for me.
