I had a one-hour massage with Emma, and it was the best massage I've ever had. Because of my work,…read moreI get massages often and I'm very particular about them--Emma absolutely nailed it. I usually pay ridiculous amounts for massages and was hesitant to come here because of the price range, but I'm so glad I did. Emma did an excellent job, and the experience exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to come back.

Have been going here for a while with generally good massages , but today's experience , my first…read moreafter their price hike recently , was certainly a bit off putting and galling. The price hike is NOT my problem , but is relevant as you'll see in a minute. I had a 1 hour /$50 massage and tipped $16-17 .. this came to $70 total with cc fees . I got confronted uncomfortably after about "did I not like the service? , and I could get someone else next time , because you usually tip me $20+!" . 1) I do not understand how a 32% tip of $17 isn't enough to hold your tongue, even if it was less than my usual tip of $20. Accept it is wha it is and move on. Confronting a customer on a tip is straight up rude. 2) I rounded up to a total cost of $70 or so , and because of the pricing increase I didn't notice initially, I guess I didn't give my "regular" expected tip as part of the total. 3) the suggested tip at the time very clearly posted (a little awkwardly too ..) was $14 .. which I was clearly above. I wasn't even at the bottom of the minimum expectation. Complaining about a tip from a reliable repeat customer who's never been cheap, what the heck? I would've said this place was 4-5 stars outside of this experience but I found this whole thing very frustrating and rather ruined my day. If I could, I'd go back and drop the tip for that behavior entirely.

Ugh. It pains me to write this review. I usually go to Thai Villa nearby but they didn't have any…read moreavailable slots and I was desperate for some TLC after sleeping on a chair and then sitting through a 13-hour flight - my back, shoulders, and neck were hurting badly. Mandarin Healing Spa's good reviews were promising but the massage was one of the worst I've had in recent memory. First, my masseuse was extremely rough, almost sloppy, in terms of technique. There were several parts where she was just raking her elbow or her fist on my back mechanically instead of working out the knots/kinks. I'm not necessarily looking for Mandarin Oriental-level of care but I didn't care for the sensation of feeling like a dummy being whaled on. And I mean that literally - she was actually punching me at one point. Hygiene was also an issue. From the constant sniffles, it sounded like she had a cold and even sneezed but kept right on going (here's hoping she sneezed into her elbow and not on her hands ... still, you should go wash your hands). The bed itself was not comfortable. Again, not expecting a ton out of a no-frills spot but I do prefer not to have particle board under the head rest digging into my cheek. When I checked the mirror afterwards, I had a lovely vertical indent going down my face. The interaction at the end left an incredibly bad taste in my mouth. They're incredibly insistent that you pay the tip, if not the whole amount, in cash, which I can understand with very small businesses but I also would've appreciated a heads-up on the phone when I booked that using a credit card adds an extra $3.75 to the cost. Also, the manager was very pushy in asking for a 25% tip ($20 for a mediocre 60-minute $80 massage) and kept saying how most customers do $20 for an even $100. Regardless of how true that may be, a customer should be allowed to tip however much they want based on the experience they received, and, if it weren't for my desperation to take a shower and wash the germs off me, I would have stood firm. I've never had someone outright demand a higher tip and it was enough to make me never want to go back. Waste of $100.
