Then I went to various places in the Back Bay. I mean really, how many salons are there on Newbury Street! We could list many of them, but I will not do so. I will tell you this though, when I get a massage I want it to be firm, I want it to get my knots out, I want to feel like I had some work done, not just have a few light touches here and there, and I'd also like a therapist to listen to my needs and take them into consideration while I am being worked on. Not just follow a model of massage they might have learned in school or from their spa instructor, and I think that's what John is perfect at, listening and detailing the areas of your body that needs the most work! I have always had some bioenergy healing with my neuromuscular therapy session. I trust him to do whatever he feels he needs to do as he is working. He is very "in the moment" with your needs. His new treatment space in Brookline is pleasant and very soothing. And the room is very large compared to his former modest office in the Back Bay. He will also kindly accommodate your musical preferences while working on you--I don't enjoy New Age stuff, so he indulges my taste for Renaissance and Baroque music! It appears that the professionals in the suite do not employ a receptionist (there is no front desk) and that they just buzz in clients in between their appointments. I thought this was rather inconvenient because I arrived about 20 minutes early and had to wait outside in the rain because no one responded to my buzz (I assume Kate was with another client). I would definitely give Kate five stars on the massage, but I am not sure I'd return because of the office set up. I'd prefer to go to a spa or someplace with a reception area where I can relax a bit before the massage.
