His new treatment space in Brookline is pleasant and very soothing. And the room is very large compared to his former modest office in the Back Bay. Rick's particular expertise is treating musicians for the various problems that may arise when playing an instrument. This has been a godsend for me, and doubtless for many other musicians. He will also kindly accommodate your musical preferences while working on you--I don't enjoy New Age stuff, so he indulges my taste for Renaissance and Baroque music! Arun Jain is a wise and experienced therapist. He can use a range of modalities in any session. He intuitively knows what will be most effective--deep tissue, energy work, neuromuscular--he understands how the body functions and he does whatever therapy will work best. I have always had some bioenergy healing with my neuromuscular therapy session. I trust him to do whatever he feels he needs to do as he is working. He is very "in the moment" with your needs. During my session it was clear that he was knowledgeable because he taught me about my shoulder injury, explained what he was doing and why, and advised me on how to continue treating my injury on my own. I could not even wait an hour before putting up this review. I saw Frederick this morning after making an appointment just last night, and he was incredibly receptive to everything I asked just upon meeting him. He was very understanding when my Groupon for the appointment apparently ceased to exist due to an unknown complication during the online transaction process, and we smoothed it out right there at the office. So he earned relaxation points from me right off the bat. As a woman, I would like to announce that I usually seek a female massage therapist just out of subconscious comfort, but I was desperate for some deep tissue magic because of recent travel and work, and therefore he was the first male to work on me. And he is sincerely respectful, humble, and so incredibly knowledgeable in his craft. I would call it an art form. Never have I had a more thorough, considerate, and purposeful massage experience. I have a history of back problems, starting from when I was 16, and he offered true understanding and efforts towards my optimum experience during the time I was able to spend there. Genuine human experience, I really cannot compliment him enough. Now they don't have a 6-foot color-changing waterfall koi pond in their office... but they deserve more business than the places that do! Frederick offered home alleviation tips as he worked on different areas of high tension and really expressed his expertise in human anatomy in such an approachable way. Again, he was all about MY experience, so if you like to talk to your massage therapist, great, he makes lovely conversation; if you want to indulge in the silent evocation of your most relaxed and curative state, he would not be offended. To summarize before I break Yelp with this character count-- great guys, unmatched physical experience, no frills or feeling of over-pricing. Arun is the absolute BEST masseur I have ever had. Not only he is the most knowledgeable, kind and caring - he is a true healer. I sometimes come to see him feeling completely broken, neck/stress issues, sports injuries and a back full of knots to the point that you feel like you cannot even think clearly as the pain becomes the only vivid reference to your brain - and he fixes me. with his firm healing touch, he really knows how to attack even those most delicate knots that hurt when you try to massage them yourself - he simply knows how to break them. You come out of there already a new healed person, and the next day - it's as if nothing even bothered you to beginning with - you are anew. After discovering Rick via a google search a few years ago, I have to say that he's been a very good find. Whenever I need a muscular massage and relaxation, I always feel much much better after an appointment with Rick. He uses a number of different techniques that treat the mind and body. The treatment Rick provides is very much a partnership - discussion before we begin about what's going on and during the treatment he checks to make sure pressure is ok, etc. Beyond his expertise and technique, the prices are very reasonable.
