Decent food and drinks, but I kind of felt gypped when I ordered the "perfect match" dinner special.. 2 weak drinks, ONE rib each, ONE piece of crab rangoon, one lobster roll(that tasted super fishy ), general tso's chicken/shrimp, and pepper steak(very tender and tasty) for $58. Went to pick up my take out order on 3/10/2020, I walked into the restaurant and it was completely empty, even the take out was dead! I used the restroom while I was waiting for my order. The bathroom was in same old dilapidated condition it was always in. Considering what is going on in this day and age, you would think they would take whatever precautions necessary. I was in there yesterday. I ordered 8 fried wings, 2 vegetable egg rolls and shrimp fried rice. The rice was really good. The egg rolls were too oily to consume...for me, my husband ate them. The wings...here's where it goes way down hill. They were fried within an inch of their lives. I almost couldn't bite them. There were supposed to be 8 wings in the order but they cut each wing into its 3 parts and counted them as individual wings. I ended up with 10 little pieces of wings...it was 3 1/2 wings at best. I was very nice and kindly asked if I could order plain fried rice with my order. She basically yelled at me and told me no. She was rushing me and rudely asked if I "wanted it or no". I've only ever ordered from here for delivery (which has never been a problem), but I recently dined at the actual restaurant and had a decent time. It was a Thursday night and it wasn't all that crowded, so that was a plus. Others have mentioned that the servers tend to seem irritated and that is true. When my boyfriend and I both decided to just have water, the waiter seemed annoyed that we weren't ordering some sort of overpriced soft drink. He seemed a little abrupt in general and while he asked us if we wanted more of those noodles with the duck sauce (we did), he again said "uh huh" as if he pegged us as cheapskates. read more

But I think this place is insanely overpriced. I very much enjoyed everything I tried, but I don't think I'd go back because there are many places just as good if not better, at a more affordable price. What I sampled: Wonton soup, good and not too salty. Scallion pancakes, also good, super hot and crunchy. The simple Chinese family restaurant is a dying breed on Western Long Island. They've given way to the deluge of asian-fusion restaurants like Monsoon, Ruby's or Thom Thom; or they've got to compete with the ubiquitous, nameless takeout joints that be-speckle the map of Nassau County like a 14 year old's pock-marked face. That said, "So Far, So Good" does a wonderful job of delivering Amer-Asian cuisine in a cloth tabled establishment. Don't get me wrong, I love take out, but to sit in a restaurant and order piles of Cold Noodles w/Sesame Sauce or Wontons in Sesame Sauce, followed by dishes ranging from the everyday General Tso or Shredded Beef Szechuan to authentic Japanese Sashimi is a godsend. The service is always friendly, the tea is always hot and the prices are always reasonable. Rarely give 5 stars unless the second time beats the first experience which did. Went on Sunday around 6pm. Place was a FULL HOUSE. I was a 2 person party so we managed to get seating quickly. Like the first time, fried noodles with dipping sauces and hot tea served immediately once seated. We were seated on the other side (smaller section) of the restaurant which consisted of about 10 tables. One waiter was in charge of our seating area! And he managed to deliver EXCEPTIONAL service to everyone including us. I watched how fast and attentive he was. Amazing. And once we ordered our food which was delicious it was served in 10 mins! Remember it was a FULL HOUSE. There was a miscommunication with one of our orders but he was apologetic and correct order came well presented in about 5 or so. Wow! Now usually I am never one to write a review about a place since I feel I can have a different experience compared to the next person but my visit with So Far So Good today was nowhere near good. To start the food lacked flavor my wife ordered steamed dumplings and when she got it the dough was to thick and barely any filling. I took a bite as well and had a similar experience where I was chewing dough. Some friends also said the food tasted dry or felt it wasn't seasoned properly. My wife had asked for a little sauce on my daughter's chicken and broccoli and what we got was cooked chicken with no sauce. When dropping off utensils and such the waiter dropped the items either in front of you or in the plate. He also made comments to one of our party members when he asked if he could get a little extra rice that what was given was enough but maybe not enough for him (he was of Spanish descent.) At the end of the meal, we got a bill and since we had a big party, I assumed that gratuity was included to account for a big party, but it wasn't. That I will take full blame for. But instead of the staff informing me that gratuity wasn't included 1 on 1 and trying to resolve it civilly the waiter and waitress (who never serviced us) came over and practically yelled at us for not tipping, loud enough for other tables that were eating to hear it. The waiter and waitress handed me back the bill with the money to cover it and said, "usually for party this big we charge 25-30% tip but I guess you Americans only do 15%." Disappointed and disrespectful. First time eating here and would never do it again. Worst part is at the end of the review! Came here for a group lunch with about 10 people. From the start the servers were very rude. Rushing people to order, aggressively serving our food just dropping things anywhere on the table, reaching over people with no regard to personal space, and just being rude in general making disrespectful comments. The food was mediocre at best. I got crab Rangoon, chicken wings, and general tso chicken and my girlfriend got chung fun shrimp noodles and everything was so bland. Everyone at the table basically said the same thing in regards to the food being bland and lacking flavor. Definitely can find better food at a smaller Chinese restaurant. At the end of the meal my friend was given the bill and paid. They took the money with the bill and left and not even a minute later the server and another random worker storms back making a huge scene saying the tip amount was to little. Generally when you eat out in a large group tip is automatically included so that's what we assumed. But that wasn't the case and instead of simply asking if this was the right amount for the tip they came back and attacked my friend screaming "how could you leave such a small tip you have a big party and only leave this tip" and the other random lady came saying "you're supposed to pay 20-30% tip when you have a big party, but you Americans only leave 15% of less you can't leave this little bit of tip. ". And they did this loud enough for everyone in the restaurant to turn around and hear. You can imagine how terrible that might have felt. Like a fine wine, So Far So Good gets better as the years go on. My first memory of this restaurant was their annual "Breakfast with Santa." Yes, breakfast at a Chinese Restaurant. For a ten year old, scrambled eggs mixed with ONIONS, wasn't one I liked and obviously wasn't one I will ever forget. That was 20 years ago. They have come a long way since the 90's. This is one of the few places I will actually eat Chinese food. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted and treated to great service. The waiters and waitresses are beyond friendly and the food is really good. My favorite thing about this place is they have a sushi menu. And GOOD sushi menu to boot! They always have special rolls, and it is always fresh. I usually do get the sushi here because Chinese isn't my favorite cuisine. My Dad loves Chinese, so we can actually come here and please both of our palates. They start you off with delicious Chinese noodles and not the ones you get in the wax paper bag from the corner take-out place. These are big, fried to perfection to be double-dipped and dipped again in duck sauce! My usual sushi choice is the Dragon Roll which is a California Roll, wrapped in eel and avocado drizzled with a special sauce. It's huge too! The house salad with ginger dressing and miso soup are also excellent. Tastes just like it does at my favorite sushi joint. If I am feeling like Chinese, my favorites are Lo-Mein, Shrimp with Lobster Sauce (my Dad's personal fav too,) spare ribs. Sometimes I am aiming for the lighter side, and go for chicken and string beans (sauce on the side) or steamed chicken and broccoli. And, I love their giant fish tank. Last night picked up food for takeout. Went home and plated the food for my family. On the General Tsos chicken there was a small roach, you could see the legs and antennas. The ambiance in the restaurant is amazing! Very relaxing and at-home. I ordered the lunch special which was extremely generous in portion size. I also got a soup, rice, fried noodles and duck sauce, and teabag for after lunch! I'm a tea lover , so they stole my heart with that one. The customer service was also exceptional. I mistakenly ordered chow mein instead of chow fun and even though the women seemed a bit irritated with me, they still exchanged it! I was very appreciative of that. The wontons I had in my soup were made from scratch and I could taste the richness in the broth. House made duck sauce also, fabulous. Lo mein was on point as well with the flavors and veggies. I overheard a man speaking with the hostess on his way out, and he mentioned he'd been coming here since he was 12, about 40 years!
