Thankfully, I had the best people to get this situation resolved quickly. I worked with Arturo Ramirez (from San Diego)'s team from start to finish. Arturo came to give an assessment of what is going on, what needs to be done, and when they are going to do so. The preparation they did before the work was amazing. I have carpet upstairs and they put plastics on everything so there would be a minimal cleaning in the end. Arturo communicated with me on everything they are working on. After all done, they cleaned everything, they put back my toilet with no issue, the walls are painted and textured. I didn't think that they were cutting any corners or trying to get it all done and get my money and be out. Only small issue I had was the communication about the invoices with their accounting team. I had to call them multiple times to get it updated since I needed the bills split between HOA and me. But in the end they got it all figured out.

Jim Thurber was the Project Manager who walked me through the process of putting everything back together again. He actually worked with my Insurance Adjuster, and I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket, except for an unforeseen leak with wall damage after the initial estimate was done. He had his employees there around 8 am every day they were supposed to be there. Alex and Marcus (i am not sure of the names, but hopefully I got it right) did the drywall/patching of the mess of my kitchen. Then the cabinet team finished it off, painted everything exactly matching the original paint, and put all the appliances back where they belonged. The kitchen looked brand new, and everything was cleaned up afterwards. The timeline was as first estimated. If there were any issues, Jim took care of it! Jim communicated with me often, and he reassured me that everything will be done to my specifications, which they were. Great company! Wonderful project manager (Jim)! Fabulous employees!

Our search for an honest company led us to West Coast, and we hoped the reviews were true. The good news is, West Coast is as honest as it gets. Askia came out and looked around the attic while I watched from the ladder. First, he showed me that the supposed mildew was some sort of harmless sandy clay-ish material. And the supposed black mold was just "lumber mold", an industry term for "stain fungi"--the common dark streaks in lumber that originate at the sawmill or in the forest, don't weaken the lumber, and are not indications of moisture. Who knew? Well, Askia knew. And he actually spent time convincing me that we didn't need their services. So do I recommend them to you? You betcha! An honest company is a joy to find.

When I had my spouse on video call to see the progress, he said their work was clean. We've worked with other companies for demo but these guys were wayyyy better at it. When we started, we only knew what we didn't like about our current kitchen. Like any major…read moreproject, we started by reaching out to a couple of vendors to get quotes, that's where we met Alon, the project manager for Lumina Builders. What immediately stood out to us was that he had ideas and solutions to address our pain points and make enhancements, we wouldn't have ever considered, and didn't just wait for us to tell him how we wanted things. He created a vision for us in that first quote visit. The other contractor we spoke to didn't provide any ideas just asked us how we wanted it. It was a very easy decision to go with Alon and Lumina Builders. Our project was estimated to take 2-3 months and ultimately took two and a half months to complete. We designed a brand new kitchen, addressing all of our concerns and adding a few recommendations from Alon to streamline some areas. They ripped everything out aside from the flooring and walls. We got brand new custom cabinets, custom lighting, and new countertops. Our fridge was moved to a new, more accessible area. Our sink was shifted down to align with the stove for continuity sake (never realized how much I hated it being in a corner previously). We had a new little cabinet built in our little breakfast nook area and we had an appliance garage built to house everything that took up counter space. Everything is so much brighter and more open and, even though we know the demensions are roughly the same, it feels so much wider. We are ecstatic with how everything came out. Alon is a genius. He was responsive to us throughout the project, checking in weekly to see how things were going, giving us peace of mind throughout this process, as first time remodelers. We were indecisive about the primary cabinet color (I was very worried we'd be stuck with something we didn't really like) but he worked with the cabinet makes to give us several samples to choose from. He was very patient with us. We LOVE how everything turned out! We'll definitely be using Lumina Builders for all of our future projects.

First, our rep Robert came to our house with tons of options and suggestions. He was able to give us a wide variety and help us select something that uniquely fit our style and budget. He was easy to get a hold of and responded quickly with any questions we had. When we came to the showroom, Robert dopped everything to lead us through the selection process. We could tell he was highly knowledgeable and much more intent on making us happy rather than upselling us on unnecessary products. When instillation day came our installers, Miguel and Israel, were also very professional and highly knowledgeable and skilled. Rarely have I seen harder workers than these two! Their attention to detail--such as lining up the carpet pattern on the stairs and making sure the cut pattern on the risers were balanced--was impressive. I followed up and checked reviews. They're legit licensed, bonded and do good work. Fast forward to the first day Armando and Andres started the job. They consulted with me and confirmed the features of the dwelling and the specific colors set for them from Sherwin Williams pallet for this model. Shout out to the lone faux shutter feature in da back of da house. *rolling eyes*. These guys communicated clearly the job and the specifics to be done. They explained to me the way they will paint the eaves and gutters (a little different from the original paint patterns). I'm good with that. That actually matches what all the neighbors did with their new paint jobs. Armando and Andres got right to work starting with the power washing for day one. The humble abode might have sighed a great sigh of relief when they did this. Gone are the tree sap, chimney soot, dust and pollen stains. Next day, cover up and protect. Then next 2 days paint all large surface areas and most of the trim. Day 4 finish all trim and doors. Last day, touch ups. These guys work hard and thoroughly. We are so happy and relieved to have the house painted right with the correct premium paint - Sherwin Williams. Looking over the humble abode now... She looks polished and beautiful. Take that HOA! We are having remediation/demolition work being done by SO CAL FLOOD CO. for water damage to our upstairs bathroom floor that is also affecting the ceiling of the downstairs bedroom. It was a toilet waterpipe leak in the upstairs bathroom causing the water damage. Plumber fixed the faucet for the toilet tank -- BUT the plumber could not put in a new toilet until remediation is done to remedy the water-damaged floor because mold could develop and the toilet could possibly fall through to the room below. So the plumber puts us in contact with SO CAL FLOOD CO. who sent NATE over here to the house to see what's happening. NATE shows up in a half hour, takes pictures, and also his scans were showing the extent of the water damage. Fortunately NO flooding -- but can see how soaked the floor was getting by looking at his scans. NATE helped us get started with making the property insurance claim. NATE made submitting the claim very Easy Peasy despite me being in ongoing panicky mood. Anyways it was like a day or so later, NATE came back with his crew of RICK and JEROME to first set up dehumidifiers to do an initial drying out of the bathroom and the bedroom. Meanwhile we were still waiting on the property insurance adjuster to do his inspection and to give his okay on the claim -- to therefore allow NATE and his crew to begin the actual demolition with the teardown of upstairs bathroom floor & wall plus the teardown of the ceiling of the downstairs bedroom below. And again dehumidifiers are left turned on plus fans are left on to dry out the opened-up demo'd floor, wall, ceiling. What was remarkable was how they tented off the areas to be worked on with protective plastic sheets with zippered entryways to keep the work and any mess contained in the tented areas. Nice and very considerate. This is still a WORK-IN-PROGRESS but I have been impressed by the work these guys have done so far. Rafael gave me all the details I needed, after knowing insurance was not covering the damage he and his project manager Mario gave me multiple options to consider when trying to keep cost down. We ended up using their services for the remediation and remodel. Mario was awesome to work with and answered all questions I had. Cesar and Juan did the majority of the remodel work, and those guys are seriously a jack of all trade and took pride in their work. We were completely happy with the way everything turned out and would highly recommend.

Our HOA contracted with this company to assess and repair some structural water damage, which also…read moreended up involving asbestos abatement. Positive: The workmanship, as far as I can judge, was fine. They knew what they were doing and--eventually--got the job done. They also contracted with someone else to handle the asbestos abatement, and that proceeded without incident as well. Whenever I spoke to the staff or emailed them, they were always courteous and pleasant. No trouble there. However... Negative: Communications with this company were, to say the least, confused and chaotic. I received emails from what must have been over half a dozen people. At one point, it was getting so crazy that I finally complained about it, and one person actually apologized and promised me that everything would henceforth run through her. It didn't. I kept hearing from new people, none of whom seemed to know what their colleagues had been saying. Similarly, the total amount of the estimate kept changing, and it was extremely unclear to me what I owed, or what the scope of the work eventually was going to be. The proposals or estimates were extremely difficult to decipher (although they did include a lot of photos, and that is a good thing). Finally, they were extremely slow. The initial assessment was simple and straightforward enough, but it took months of repeated calls and emails to get them to finally do the work--which took only two days. Once they actually did it, everything was fine, but what should have taken a few weeks at most dragged on for months. This created a great deal of personal hardship for my mother and for me, and became inordinately time-consuming and complicated. If it weren't for the poor organization and communication, this company could easily be in the five-star range.
