Admittedly, we got caught up in the hype. The award winning chef in Wilmington was too much to ignore any longer. Let me first state, we've eaten all over the world, at many of the best places, not only expensive but DDD style as well. Delawareans described this place we felt fortunate a world class place landed in our small state. Let me say, this place was good, but not over the top. If you're use to eating in chains, maybe it would be a 5 or 5. Our service was good, the place is cramp and you can tell the staff is stressed but they did a nice job. I had the pork shop and it's flavor was good but over cooked. The other guests thought the food was good not great. The cost is For great food and it fell short. We will try it again but it felt like they were doing us a favor for eating there and the food was just good not great. They are a local favorite but we couldn't figure out why... read more

(4) ~ very good overall food & service. It's smaller than expected, so there's limited seating which probably explains some of the reason you will need to book two months out for a reservation;) And definitely go here for the Steaks, probably the Best in Delaware! DRINKS: ** Water (tap) = (4) very good, must be filtered;) ** House Caberbet = (4) very good ** Coffee = (4) very fresh FOOD: ** Long Bone Ribeye (for two) = (4.5) Very Tender & Flavorful! Definitely the Best Ribeye I've ever had and it's definitely for two people;)lol Highly Recommend topping it with the Beef Bone Marrow Butter too;) ** Mills Salad = (4.25) Very tasty and shareable ** Caesar Salad = (4) very good croutons and also shareable ** Tarragon Fingerling Potatoes & Carrots = (4) very tasty ** Asparagus & Crab Soup = (4) very good ** Sticky Toffee Pudding = (4) very savory ** Valrhona Chocolate Ganache Tart = (4) very rich, but the best part was the Henlopen Sea Salt Caramel Sauce;) * Whole Head of Garlic Appetizer = (3.75) Good * Raspberry Tart w. Lemon Curd = (3.75) Good read more

Wow!!! It's an experience!! I had my first oysters there and they were delicious. The food was amazing and the service was great! We've also been to their sister restaurant too where the old Michael Christopher used to be and that was fabulous too! Just a note: they only take reservations and you have to make a deposit on your reservation too, well worth it, can't wait to go back to both restaurants! read more

We had some terrific and unique food prepared to perfection. We had filet, the pasta and pork. The salad was as great and our daughter enjoyed some oysters. The wine selection is well matched for the meal. read more

The food is outstanding here. They are known for their meat. I had the lamb with a mint chimichanga topping. It was amazing. The other person I was with had the filet, also amazing. I had a chocolate ganache tart outstanding. My daughter had the sticky toffee pudding. We tried each others and agreed that both were outstanding. Everything is made from scratch. It's a little pricey but well worth it. read more

I cannot praise this restaurant enough. It's so comfortable and cozy. The atmosphere, the playlist, the service, and the food all mix together for a phenomenal meal. The drinks, the appetizers, and the steak are all highlights. When you eat here they treat you like a special member of the family. Plan ahead, make your reservation and go. You will not be disappointed. read more

My daughter took me to Snuff Mill for my birthday. They absolutely acknowledged the fact that it was my birthday. I am only giving a 3 star rating because the food was very good. The artichoke appetizer was amazing and a must have if you go. The servings are very small with high prices. Unfortunately, service was not good from our server. She should be waiting tables in a diner. We ordered bottled water and when our glasses were empty, she filled them with water from a pitcher with faucet water. She was not certain of the specials and she did not offer a second drink to my daughter in law after she finished her first beverage (a mock tail), however continued to ask my daughter and I if we wanted more wine. She also was snippy with my daughter when discussing wines. Making certain that my daughter was aware that she was incorrect on her opinion of the wine. We were so frustrated that we paid the tab and went to the bar for more drinks. The vibe at the bar from the bar manager was very dry and he seemed very uninterested in serving us. The place seemed to have a lot of regulars and seemed very unwelcoming like we were outsiders. I would like to say that the hostess was extremely nice and more educated on the menu than our server was. We will not be returning to this establishment. There are several other upscale restaurants in the area that have excellent food and service. read more

Wow wow wow. This place is amazing!! I only have good things to say about this place - from the vibes inside, the friendly staff, and the delicious food. The menu had so many options and it all sounded good. We ended up ordering the burger. It was the BEST burger we have ever had at a restaurant. It was cooked perfectly as requested. And the desert crème brûlée was chefs kiss. Also the best crème brûlée I have ever had. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! This will be a staple anytime we come back to DE. read more

Recommended to us by a friend who owns a brewery in the area. Super pleased with the ambience and our lunch. The place settings when we arrived were the type of elegance you rarely see anymore. Liked the vibe and look of the entire shopping area too. Our lunch was delicious, really enjoyed the signature burger. Only drawback was our waitress who didn't make any effort to accommodate a side salad adjustment and incorrectly pronounced the names of a few wines but then grew a tad bit impatient when someone at our table was having difficulty deciding without any further assistance. Would definitely return when back in the area and just be sure not to get the same server. read more

Snuff Mill - Great place to meet up just off the highway! - Wine Bars Near Me - Wilmington, Delaware

Absolutely exceptional service. Fun but tiny interior. Everything we had was delicious, the only exception being my overcooked burger. I asked for medium rare and it came out almost well done. Still, I plan to return as this is an excellent dining experience. The smoked foie gras was one of the best things I've ever tasted in any restaurant. read more

I really enjoyed my first visit to this restaurant for lunch. I had the Nashville chicken sandwich. It was cooked and seasoned well and featured a nice bun. I also had a good bourbon drink that included an Amaro that I had never tried. Overall, I'm looking forward to my next visit. read more

I travel a lot for work and I'm fortunate to eat at many different restaurants. I rarely leave reviews but the food was so fantastic here that I had to leave 5 stars! From the proprietary IPA to the chartulary board to the steak (amazing cut - perfectly cooked) to the dessert - just an amazing experience. Hands down the best restaurant I have visited in the truck-state area. So happy this is a local option for me. I will be coming back. read more

Fabulous food. We shared (3 of us) the large Porterhouse. The 4th person had caviar linguine which they loved. We had plenty of steak to take home. The vegetables (tarragon roasted potatoes, baby carrots & string beans) simply prepared but delicious. Staff very attentive. A very special place. Small & dark, however, & sometimes hard to hear the waitress. Wine list excellent. read more

Dining room was small but the food and drinks were very good. Service was awesome. I didn't feel like any of the house cocktails so the bartender made me his own creations, very good. Ordered the steak frites. Steak was tender, perfectly cooked, well seasoned. Very good restaurant. read more

Finally got to stop by to check out the Snuff Mill Restaurant, Butchery & Wine Bar. It is incredible! Hyper local fare, artfully presented, and absolutely delicious. Chef Robert is the real deal!! For an appetzier I had the CARPET BAGGER, Flash-fried local oyster, shaved filet mignon, thick cut bacon, Roquefort cheese, and jalapeño ranch. It's as good as it sounds! I've been dying for a proper burger and their's delivers in spades. Their Signature Beef Burger comes with milion-dollar bacon, sauteed Vidalia onions, quick-pickled red onions, American cheese, dill pickles and special sauce. This is all on a humble sesame seed bun (no brioche necessary to show no tricks up their sleeves). Let's talk about the fries. Proper homemade pomme frites as good as I've had in any eatery in Europe. Light and crispy on the outside and creamy and buttery on the inside. The perfect thickness to hold the heat and the crisp. If you are ever in Wilmington, definitely give the Snuff Mill Restaurant a try. Reservations are recommended. Plan well ahead for dinner. Lunch time is the time if you want to try it out sooner. Call to see if they can fit you in. read more

We stopped in without a reservation after eating dinner elsewhere just to see if there was room at the bar so we could have a pumpkin martini. (my wife had one while dining at SM a few weeks back and talked the rest of us into it) the four of us were welcomed and seated outside under a heat lamp. The bar magician worked his magic and we enjoyed a delicious and wonderful night cap to our evening! Thanks Snuff Mill read more

We enjoyed every bit of our 1st experience at Snuff Mill! From the greeting as we walked to the dessert with a great meal (and drinks) in between, we had a wonderful evening! I had the Duck Frites and my husband had the Monk Fish, followed by German Chocolate Cheesecake. Outstanding! read more

First time here, everything was outstanding. We started with the roasted organic garlic head, buratta and pork belly bao buns. Entrees consisted of a filet, and two prime ribeyes, all cooked perfectly. We ordered the roasted potatoes and spinach gratin, both outstanding with a ton of flavor. Ended the meal with sticky toffee pudding, a chocolate pot de créeme and an afogato style dessert and espresso martinis. From all of the dishes, to cocktails, to wine and desserts everything was great. Highly recommend this place and we can not wait to return! Definitely a must try! read more

Best meal in over 20 years! I love to dine and have been seeking exceptional for a long time. Well folks, it's at Snuff Mill.

Love the atmosphere and server was knowledgeable and friendly. 3 appetizers, carpet beggars, raw oysters and full head of garlic sourdough bread was perfectly portioned. Main dish, pork cheek, filet mignon, veal special were perfectly cooked to order. Will not be disappointed. read more

Our favorite date night spot. Everything is delicious! Service is fabulous. Atmosphere is cozy. We'll be back again and again.

NOT CHILD FRIENDLY Unfortunately the restaurant is not baby/toddler friendly. Called the location after making reservation to advise we required a high chair added to our rsvp. Confirmed no issue and notes made. Furthermore there are high tops and low tops and was shared would assign us to the low Person who answered checked with manager on duty and said "no problem.". Fast forward to 1 hour before rsvp tonight and I receive a call advising they don't have high chairs and if one was secured from a nearby restaurant that we would have to sit outside. Happy Easter Dinner celebration to us! We cancelled and at the last minute seeking a new restaurant to accommodate. Unsure how spending probably $500-700 is acceptable to manage this way. Disappointed. read more

I was craving a nice steak lunch - I was so happily surprised and satisfied. I had steak frites ($32) with fries (they are not skinny fries. It was amazing! Worth every penny! My friend had Turkey Avo in honor of national sandwich day. It comes with a tasty salad and the sandwich was big! ($16). It is small place - so call ahead. I wish we left room for dessert - maple and bourbon creme brûlée looked amazing! The hamburger on the next table looked great at ($18). The wine and cocktails are unique and fun. The service was excellent- I felt spoiled! Treat yourself to a great meal. read more

Expensive but exceptional, especially for Wilmington. Innovative dishes in charming atmosphere and super friendly, knowledgeable staff. You can dress up or dress down, I even saw a backwards baseball cap. Inside you feel you're in a hip NYC bistro. Went inside for a Tuesday afternoon lunch. Did not have reservations. They were not busy so did not see this as an issue. Asked for a table. Was greeted by a hostess asking us if we had a reservation and we responded no. She advised us that we had to sit at the bar which is very small with another couple. As we were sitting, we noticed she turned away another couple because they also didn't have a reservation. Very confused when half the restaurant was open. Looked online and it had open reservations for that day at 1pm and it was 12:50. At that point, they seemed too snobby for us. We love la fia, bardea and other fine restaurants but not willing to spend over 100 dollars for people who didn't make common sense adjustments. Left and went to another place. read more

Best meal in Wilmington. On the pricey end of fine dining but definitely get what you pay for. Steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Got crème brûlée and black coffee in bed desserts which were amazing. Service was on point. Wish they had more space since only expect them to get busier from here out. Everything you keep hearing is true. Delaware has a farm to table steakhouse where the dishes are creative, colorful and tasty. The quality of the ingredients is what brings Snuff Mill to the top leagues. Dry aged steaks, chicken, soups, carpet bagger appetizer, so many highlights. Plan ahead and enjoy! read more

Outstanding! Seated promptly, great service. Really good time for a birthday or any special event.

Great meal, great menu, fun atmosphere. Hands down the best service I've had in Wilmington in the 10 years I've lived here by a mile. I had a fantastic ribeye. I'm always disappointed when I order a steak at a restaurant but this was great. It was over cooked slightly after ordering medium rare, our server asked me to cut in and saw that and would not let me accept it. I've never sent a meal back before but they were adamant I get the perfect steak. Worth every penny. Will be back over and over again. Get the marrow butter on your steak! read more

Our first time here after living in Delaware for three years. The service is fantastic from the moment you walk in the door you're treated like a VIP. In my opinion, the way Dining is supposed to be! The staff are helpful and happy and help you choose what to eat or drink if you're not sure what to get. And the food was just fantastic. A nice small intimate setting for a wonderful dining experience. We sat at the bar. Ian was great. Michael was great. Even hugged the owner! Everyone is really glad that you're there. Ian and Michael took the the time to chat and get to know you. Very authentic all around. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommend! This restaurant gives you an experience, not just a meal. read more

Love the staff and atmosphere, and most importantly, the food was incredible. Ten out of ten would def recommend.

I have been buying meat from Snuff Mill since it opened. Yesterday I made veal chops in the Zurich style with mushrooms and cream. It was insanely good. Soon I plan to make a pork schitzel because the pork they sell tastes like somerhing your grandma would have fed you. I have not yet dined there but I did do a Friday night takeout of burgers and toffee pudding. It was terrific. read more
