Took my 3 year old here for his first haircut. She was absolutely terrified and we ended up having the best experience ever! She couldn't stop smiling. The hairdresser was sweet and nurturing. The haircut was quick and fantastic. It also helped that she got to choose a Netflix show to watch and they also let her pick out her own new hair clip as well as a lollipop. We also received a certificate and a lock of her hair as a keepsake. She was so happy she didn't want the leave. We will definitely be coming back here for more haircuts to come! read more

I was recommended to Rita's from one of the mom's in my son's class. My 3 year old hates getting his hair cut, cries and screams everywhere and I was told they have experience with this sort of behavior and special needs children.. so I went and I'm so glad I did. Rita is the best, patient, kind and just plain understanding. My son threw a fit as expected (and I warned them he would), she calmed him down, let him play with a toy and boom the hair cut was done. Mind you, a very nice cut, not half-assed like some places who just want the next customer and get a screaming kid out. My older one was playing on the x-box and getting his hair cut as well. Nicely done.. very happy and will definitely continue going to Rita's. I'll gladly pay her prices as opposed to some other places that don't have the experience or the patience. 30 years of experience and it totally shows! read more

We took our twin boys there for their 1 year old hair cuts. Riita seemed rushed, was grumpy, didn't ask for their names, didn't try to make them feel comfortable, kept yelling at her assistant to do bubbles and the assistant kept ignoring her and the kids cried the entire time. On top of all this the hair cuts were horrible. I don't know if it is because she isn't good in general or just doesn't know how to handle curly hair (the kids' hair is thick and curly). Overpriced, unfriendly, rude and hair cut not very good. Place doesn't even greet kids or even flashed a single smile. If they don't like kids why are they marketing to kids?? All young inexperienced staff working there with major attitude problems. Even caught them talking about customers as soon as they walk out the door. In front of customers they are cold and rude and behind customers it's even worse. I'm appalled. First and last time going there. Can understand why the ratings aren't very good for this place. Confused how some folks gave them 5 stars but it's all old reviews and so perhaps the new staff isn't very good. read more

I think snips for pips is great. I like Ritas no nonsense approach. Its fast and it looks good and its not easy with toddlers. I would definitely recommend snips for pips. I also think that parents posting pics of uneven hair on toddlers is dusting. First off who cares secondly it is most likely because they didnt sit still. read more

They did a great job and cut my son's hair, who just turned 5 and is diagnosed with autism. Haircut's usually go really horrible but I am happy to say the speed and accuracy along with some craftily chosen netflix episodes made the experience so much more enjoyable read more

My normal salon could not accommodate a last minute appointment so I took my girls to Rita's. The experience was not great. The salon was packed with not many places to sit. The stylist we got was not friendly at all. She rushed the haircuts and didn't speak one word the entire time. I think this salon needs to hire professionals who actually like children. My usual salon makes my girls feel really special and goes out of their way to offer a braid or something special. Normally I wouldn't write a review but for $62 plus tip for two haircuts which took less than 10 minutes I was a bit bothered. read more

Snips for Pips is entirely too expensive for what you get. The woman that cut my daughter's hair (19 months) was wonderful. She was fast, knew what she was doing, talked and played with my daughter. She is really the only reason they are getting three stars. Rita, the owner, was not personable.... in fact she was pretty rude. This was my middle daughter's first haircut so they gave a certificate and lock of hair. It was $30 for a five minute haircut! My oldest got her first haircut at Disney World a few years ago and it was $18 with a lock of hair, Mickey ears and certificate.... it's hard to justify having prices higher than WDW! I was terrified to bring my one year old son in here for fear of a meltdown, and lo and behold he cried as soon as Mira had the cape on him. The whole time she was so sweet and talked to him, quickly cutting his hair when he sat still for a second. Everyone was so friendly when we walked in and Mira did such a great job even though her customer was less than cooperative. Will definitely be coming back! read more

Been here a few times.. and every time I thought twice about going but never really knew anywhere else I can take a 1-2 year old. In any case, this time I was unhappy again. Rita the owner was cutting my son's hair and he said "Ouch" at one point and then he kept being scared of the buzzer. She was looking by his ear but didn't say anything and to be honest, very rough with him overall. Not kid friendly in any way. When I got home I looked behind his ears and there was a cut as I presumed. I would have been ok if she at least apologized for it but nothing - just decided to ignore it I guess. Will not be going back here anymore. He turned 3 so I can probably find a different place with someone that would be more gentle and not charge a ridiculous price for a boy's haircut. read more

My son needed a haircut and was skeptical due to some of the reviews. Walked in on a Tuesday and they fit me right in. They did an amazing job! My son was crying and acting crazy(the usual when getting his haircut) and it didn't even faze them. They did it quickly and it looked great. I think your best bet is going on a weekday when they are not over booked and they have more time and there are less kids there. read more

This place is so cute!!! My son absolutely loved playing in the cars and all the toys they have while we waited- until it was time to get his first haircut. He screamed the whole time but the stylist never flustered. She gave him a great cut not taking away his curls and was so patient with him. It was a little pricey but well worth it! read more

We've been coming here for over two years, typically 3-4 times a year and the last two trips have been less than stellar. Our most recent one was horrible which is why I'm sharing in this review. Arrived on time for our appointment with Sara and she was a few minutes late. It was not terribly crowded as there were empty chairs but the space is small that it always does feel crowded. While we were waiting, another woman tried to herd us and another duo to the back for hair washing which we all declined. I got my child in the car/seat for the haircut and we waited another minute or so. Sara appeared and in a very rushed manner asked what I want to have done. I had to repeat it several times to make sure she understood because when she repeated it back the first two times she was wrong. She started the process without even greeting us and getting the TV set up. Not a big deal, except it is when the other kid next to you is getting 5 star treatment with their tv on and the stylist is walking them through the process. I proceeded to use the remote myself (felt like I was an employee, how special!). The haircut was over in less than 10 minutes and Sara rushed me to look it over and then rushed my daughter in picking out a hair clip (not much of a selection by the way). We walk over to pay and I see that the little girl who was getting her hair trimmed next to us had a braid done which was not offered to us either. Overall a horribly rushed experience. A place like this has potential and what one would envision is a friendly, inviting salon where you're greeted upon arrival by the staff rather than having to seek them out, where they individually approach you and invite you to the back for a hair wash rather than shouting "everyone to the back for a wash!", where the stylist makes actual conversation with the child for a more personal experience and puts in the extra effort to make a $31 haircut worth while and special. Our last two trips here failed to meet any of these expectations so we will not be going back. read more

O.M.G. Are these people seriously running a children's salon??!!! I would really like to give this salon negative 5 stars. Snooty would be a compliment. I brought my 2 year old for her first hair cut and she was particularly scared and didn't want to sit or let them touch her hair. This obviously isn't the salons fault but I'm not exaggerating when I say that her hairstylist Maria (I only know that's her name because it came up when I booked online) had the personality of a dead fly. She did not come up to us to introduce herself and I only assumed she was the one doing the hair cut because she was the only other hairstylist lingering by and waiting. Not a word from this woman the WHOLE time we were there trying get my two year old to sit in the chair. As a kids hair salon you would think they'd atleast try to talk and be friendly to the child to make them feel comfortable like any pediatric or child's service would. The other stylist was not much more pleasant. I was happy I wasn't able to get my child to get a haircut here as I would've hated myself for giving them any service. If this was an adults salon I would've walked out let alone a kids salon. Ugh... so disappointing. read more

Over priced, aggressive, rude, and rushed. I do NOT recommend. I made an appt for my 3yo daughter for her first haircut. Really didn't have too many options in the area, so booked it for this place. Arrived early so my daughter would feel comfortable. Just to preface the story, my daughter does not warm up quickly and can bring a house down with her crying. I tried to prep her for his experience. The 'stylist' took one look at my daughter and already began the experience with a sour attitude because she was 'that girl' that just wouldn't stop crying. I find out that the 'stylist' is Rita. Rita was aggressive with my daughter. She was very forceful by putting her hand on my girls head and pushing it down! Then started making comments here and there about her crying. The other assistants were kind in trying to help me calm her down and my infant. She was very short and nasty to my little girl. NO compassion. Snipped it right across and she was done. My daughter calmed down once the snip started bc she was distracted by the tv. I decided to hold my comments until later bc I had already made a scene with a crying toddler. But I was mortified! Moms out there know it's hard enough juggling kids and trying to help calm a toddler down. You'd think that a childern's salon would show more patience. But no, not here. I ended up calling her to let her know how disappointed I was and to never treat another customer and child like that. Rita claimed she was NOT the owner. I told her she was too aggressive with my daughter. She left the conversation saying she did the best she could and that she will accept my constructive criticism. Seems to me she must've gotten similar reviews and has a well rehearsed response to them all. read more

So happy with our experience! Jamie was amazing with our 9 month old for his first haircut and the whole time experience was very positive overall. I was told by another mom in USR to try Snips for Kids. It was excited as the place was cute and I'm new to the area. My daughter was assigned a young male stylist and I explained that I wanted a bob haircut trim for my 6 year old daughter. I commented how it's a very difficult haircut to get right and he said that it wasn't for him since he's good at it. I felt at ease. However, I watched him cut her hair extremely short and not at all what I asked. I kept questioning his technique and he was bothered. I became alarmed when my daughter's hair was completely chopped off and it looked nothing like what I requested. The stylist called Rita (the owner) to check his work as it was obvious that I was not pleased. She attempted to fix it but made it even shorter. I was horrified!! My poor baby girl even commented that she looked like a boy. Rita did not charge me for the haircut but was visibly annoyed that I complained. It will take at least 6 months for my daughter's hair to grow. Every time I look at it, it angers me. How could they have chopped her hair so short and give her a completely different cut??? Terrible cut.... owner just cares about money... wanted to charge me to fix a slant haircut done by one of her employees ...would never go back... would give zero stars if that was an option Update: The owner did not tell me to come in and get it checked until I kept persisting ... i did not end up going cos I would rather find a better place...infact she told me my daughter might have cut it by herself and that in any case she needs a new cut... I told her the first 4-5 days it looked fine since it was blow dried after which I was on a vacation where I noticed but did not care to call from there... my daughter had like really long hair ...after the hair stylist washed her hair she asked me if I wanted to donate and I said sure ... she mentioned that in that case the cut would be on the house.... while she was drying the hair she told me the owner said She is going to charge us anyways since the hair got washed( really ??? In any case u wash the hair) I went ahead and got it cut and paid anyway cos I was not there to get a complimentary cut but shows how the salon works... even today she wanted to do nothing with my complaint I never asked for a complimentary haircut but just to make it straight.... she was talking over me and did not care about losing a customer ... I have been to salons before with high customer service who take pride in their work and dont put the blame on the customer ... clearly not this one. ... She was so rough and kept asking me if I was holding him tight enough so she wouldn't bang him into anything. He screamed the entire time! This is a very cute children's hair salon, complete with every imaginable DVD, personal televisions, toys and airplanes and such for the kids to sit in. We took our 17 month old son there a couple of weeks ago for his first haircut. I was very nervous! The hairdresser (I think it was Jamie) listened to what we wanted, put on an Elmo movie for my son, and was very gentle with him. During the cut, another lady came over and brought some baby toys and distracted him. At the end of the cut, she took a picture of him, and gave him a First Haircut certificate with some of his hair! It was very cute. We had a good experience there, and will be back. I'm not sure how much these places usually charge, but I think the first cut was around $20. Only complaint is that the place is very small, and there was not much room for waiting on a Saturday morning--it got very crowded... read more

I took my 18-month old to Rita's for her first haircut. Jan, our stylist was amazing. She was patient, gentle and creative and gave her a basic, cute haircut. She's 18 months, that's all she needs. There were no tears, a little squirming when her bangs were cut and plenty of giggles. We are new to the area and will definitely be going there again. It's a super cute salon and my little one loved sitting (and standing) in a yellow taxi-cab and watching Elmo while getting her first haircut. It's a bit pricey ($27 for girls) but I would still go again. read more

I am so upset to be writing this low rated review as I absolutely love our regular hair stylist there. Today they were swamped and we didn't have an appt but they squeezed us in, which was great. We ended up having our regular stylist for one of my boys and the owner for my other son (who wasn't the most hospitable with us). Our regular girl was wonderful, and gave my son another amazing haircut, however, the owner rushed my other sons haircut, did not even ask how I wanted his hair cut, and didn't listen to me when I tried to tell her what I wanted. She wasn't warm and fuzzy with my son, who is 18 months, and his hair is butchered and looks terrible. Great that you squeezed us in, but if you are going to rush us and treat us that way, then don't waste either of our times. Just tell us to come back....I wouldn't have cared and if the end result would have been a better experience (and cut) then we both would have been happy. read more

This was my sons 4th haircut (1st at Rita's) and Rita finally got it right! After reading the reviews I was a little nervous but considering I wasn't happy with each previous cut (at two different high end salons) I figured I had nothing to lose. My son chose his DVD, stayed still until the very end and his haircut looks awesome! Yes Rita's is pricy for the length of time but I wouldn't want him sitting there any longer! She did an amazing job on his hair! We love it and will definitely be back!!!!!! read more

We got our 21 month son's haircut from Owner. The owner did a hurried job and an awful haircut. In total she spent 8 minutes on the haircut. At $27 you expect a better service than this. He now has to get another haircut. read more

This was my second visit to the hair salon and it was a very disappointing experience. I had booked an appointment previous to my visit for my three young girls to have their hair washed, cut and blown. The salon itself is very appealing especially for children with different options for them to sit in and have their hair cut, from planes to police cars. However, the staff struggle to match the child friendly environment with their abrupt, smile less attitudes. My two eldest children were not offered the luxury of sitting in the special vehicle chairs and were instead placed on a normal chair in front of a DVD player. The hair cut they received was extremely fast and their hair was only blown 85% dry. My youngest daughter doesn't feel comfortable having her hair cut and needs to sit on my knee to feel reassured. The lady who cut her hair offered zero words of encouragement. As for the final stage of our experience which was the payment stage I found the salon to be extremely expensive and the experience we had was not worth the money. The lady on the reception desk offered the same level of customer service that seemed to run throughout the salon, basic and unwelcoming. To summarise I do not recommend this salon to anyone looking for a warm welcoming environment for their children to feel comfortable and happy in to have their hair cut stress free. I had taken my son to Rita a few times and she had given him great haircuts. It is a cute salon with fun chairs and dvd's at all the stations. The problem was that he would cry and squirm the entire time. I had sensed it was her vibe because, for a children's salon owner, she is not very friendly or patient. I stopped going there after she told him he didn't deserve a toy because of how he acted (he is 2 years old). I started taking him to a barber and while he didn't cry, I didn't like the haircuts he was getting. Today, I decided to try Rita's one more time being he is a little older and I wanted a good haircut for his Christmas picture. He was perfectly behaved but unfortunately this was the worst haircut he has ever gotten. I asked for a scissor cut on top but she decided to take it upon her self to buzz (very unevenly I must add) most of it except for the front. He has so many cowlicks that it just sticks up in certain parts and he looks almost bald in others. I was almost willing to put up with her grumpiness but now that the haircut was so bad, I can say for sure that this will be the last time I take my son to Rita's. read more
