I first met Michael C. at the Woodland Park location several years ago. I was really impressed with the haircut I received. When you find that someone, who listens and makes your hair look better than before you follow them to Fairlawn. I have very fine hair and Michael always gives me a superb cut, that gives my hair fullness and bounce. I always feel beautiful leaving the salon. Have been taking my kid to Great Clips for a few years and was extremely annoyed when they forgot to follow his haircut style in their system this time and did a size 3 buzz cut all around his head. You can see his skin through the top of his hair. How do they completely screw it up? I've been coming to Great Clips Fair Lawn for over seven years now. Samie currently takes care of my follicles and does a fantastic job. She is very pleasant and makes great effort to make sure my haircut turns out just right. When I was younger, I did not look forward to getting haircuts, but now I do, and Great Clips and Samie have a lot to do with that! Sami cut my hair again and it came out great! I am glad that she is back because she is a nice person and does a great job styling my hair! I received a compliment on my haircut from an attractive woman! I'll take it! Others have complimented me on the cuts Sami provided over the years! Diana is the manager and she does and excellent job cutting my hair! She is a nice person, too! This place mainly caters to the elderly and surrounding seniors. Walk ins are only good on off hours because they only have one or two stylists working at once. They use this on line app and promote it but do not follow it. I have checked in four times for a hair cut. The app tells you to arrive close to when your going to be called. The woman working there never follow it and always make you sit anyway. What the hell is the point of checking in on line for a cut and then having to wait anyway. Its easy to just open the door, scream in "how long of a wait" and then go somewhere else if its a long wait. The owner Barry is a little odd and seems to pop in often but never addresses the long waiting room or the phone that just rings. He sweeps the floor and walks out. I have only gone to one stylist (Diana). The others I tried were butchers and don't listen. I was a customer at the Fair Lawn, NJ Great Clips salon since 2012. Nice salon. Convenient location. Very affordable prices. I was happy with the hair cuts and perms. Diane who is also the manager is a very good hair stylist. I stopped going there since August 2021 because of the embarrassing, mean spirited, nasty, disturbing, unwanted, harassing, humiliating, horrible and inappropriate comments that Diane had made to me. When I asked her not to make comments on a certain issue and to never bring it up again, she continued to force the comments on me. She embarrassed me to her staff and the customers. She again made harassing and embarrassing comments on the same issue at my last visit. When I asked her not to make comments on this issue and to bring it up again, she continued to provoke me with her horrible comments. Diane was no longer talking to me the way she use to nor was she letting me get my haircut in peace. I felt embarrassed and humiliated. I was also outraged. A terrible way to talk to a customer who did business with that salon for years. Diane's harassing comments ruined the customer experience and relationship. Since it was a pattern, it could happen again. I did not want to be harassed again, so I went to another salon in the same area. The pattern did repeat again with another stylist who was the owner's sister at the Vlad's Hair Studio. She used Diane's exact words and made the same kind of harassing comments. The comments had escalated and was even more harassing and embarrassing. Diane would have been the one making the comments if I had not left Great Clips. If my suspicions were correct, Diane was using that stylist to talk to me. She had no business invading another salon so she can use another stylist to continue harassing me the way she did at her salon. Diane committed a breach and betrayed a customer's trust. The trouble with her was never over. Her only concerned should have been the business and customer service. This was a shocker. It caused me an inconvenience that I had to go to another salon because of the trouble that Diane gave me at her salon. The other salons are more expensive and most of the are not affordable. Now I have to change salons again being that the trouble continued at another salon. I even message Diane on Facebook and told her that I did not like her comments. No one ever reached back to me and apologized. When I complained to customer service, they referred the matter to the owner. The owner got back to them and said there will be no further follow up on this matter. I would have given a 5 star rating and remained a customer if those horrible incidences with Diane had not happened. Diane did not even care when I complained to her about it. I never had a problem with Diane and thought she was a nice person until this horror started to happen. Diane misused her position and information. The Fair Lawn, NJ Great Clips is independently owned. Corporate has no jurisdiction. I failed to get anyone to resolved this problem. It was Diane's job to resolve it. Diane harassed and victimized me like the 2 neighbors. Could any of them be her clients or another person who I had trouble with. I feel very stalked. Will I ever be able to go to another salon again without this trouble following me? I just went there to get a haircut and Diane started to give me crap. Very bad customer service. Today we received a haircut and at the end the dresser didn't even bother to put the gel or blow out. 6 y.o walked out outside with wet hair at 53 F. All his cloth, face was in hair. The hair dresser (Talin) was very rude as soon as I walked in the door. Asked the questions while playing with her phone. She was not motivated at all. Not only the attitude, she finished my cut in 4 mins and not even close to what I had asked her to do! It was my second visit since moving to NJ and I should look for alternatives. The hair dresser Talin messed up my boyfriends hair so much he had to shave it bald. It was not fixable. And she did it In only 4 minutes maybe if he tilted his head to the left all he time it would have looked fine learn how to cut. read more

Diana runs a great hair salon at great clips in fair lawn. She is an expert in what she does and her staff is friendly and extremely competent. The salon is clean and they follow safety rules to a T. The stylists here are extremely hit and miss (mostly miss). You'll get a halfway decent haircut one time and then one that needs to be fixed the next. The fact that you don't have to make an appointment kept me coming back - but today finishes it for me. My "stylist" (and I use that term VERY loosely) Talin gave me a 5 minute haircut. I could have done a better job doing it myself with my eyes closed. It's about 10 different lengths - long hair in patches, far too short in other places. Of course she made sure to slick it all down before telling me she was done so I didn't notice this until after I left. Do yourself a favor and find another place to get your hair cut. This was my first visit to a Great Clips. It was a Saturday at 9:30am. Luckily, I had only a short wait. Going to a new place is scary but I'm not too picky with my hair. I was asked what number buzz I would want. I just said to make her best judgement. The cut was much shorter than I expected and what I ever had. Again, I'm not picky so it's fine. I became hesitant to use the coupon that she noticed that I had been holding earlier. So, I cashed in my free haircut coupon that I won at the 1st Day 5K road race in town in January. At least I don't have to worry about a haircut for awhile now. My eldest with special needs and LOVES getting her hair cut/styled got in the chair for the stylist (also receptionist). In under a minute she had yelled at my child twice to sit still. While decently priced for a hit or miss haircut, the customer service needs work. During a recent haircut, the store phone rang and my stylist answered it, answered a few questions, and hung up. Then came back to me and said, "i had to hang up asap before they asked any more stupid questions like 'do you take appointments'". It was most definitely a turn off, which was followed by a less than satisfying haircut (2nd time by the same person). Will I return? Not if the same stylist is on duty that day. read more

I have been a regular customer of Talin's and her work is consistently outstanding. Besides being highly skilled (cuts are easily worth 2X the price charged), her level of professionalism and work ethic is rarely found anywhere else. My hair (what little is left) has always proven difficult for other stylists and barbers to master but she figured it out on the first try. Second time I go @ 150p on a weekday. First time was great. Today I went to just get a trim. About 3 inches off, as she starts cutting , I tell her yes cut that much first , if I want it shorter I'll let you know right after. Now she starts cutting , cuts the back and shows me okay is that good or shorter? I was like you haven't cut the front. She says I can't cut your hair twice. What?! I was like well I can't tell you if I want it shorter until I see the whole result. Needless to say, she said it gets busy and she can't cut my hair twice. I thought it was very rude. I am a paying customer, I didn't know that by sitting on their seat I would be timed. Anyway, she finished cutting it. I liked it that length so I didn't have to bother her to cut an extra 2 inches, as if I were getting my cut for free. smh so didn't need to ask her to cut more, thank GOD...Her rushing me and asking me to make my decision fast because she can't waste too much time on a customer is ridiculous. There were no customers waiting there and none on their screen. Very Rude. What if I would have given into her . No Never again. Mind you I was only there to get a trim. I showed the woman who cut my hair several pictures of what I wanted which was just some layers, I end up leaving with a half-done pixie cut that could be considered a mullet. I would think she would hold back with the scissors since I didn't have much hair to start with ( I had an outgrown bob) but I was wrong. I'm not even upset that she cut a lot of my hair off, I just remember specifically asking to not get a mullet-looking haircut but she still found a way to give me one. If you're gonna accidentally give someone a pixie cut, at least do it well and not leave the under layer disconnected from the rest of the layers. Giving two stars because she was still somewhat polite but if they try to charge me when I come in the get this mullet fixed, definitely going to lower it. read more

Can someone PLEASE fire Talin? I don't know if she's just bad or doesn't care but if I could give 0 stars, I would. I went with my friend who just got a trim. I got a shampoo and cut several inches off my hair. I was done before my friend. The whole process took maybe 10 minutes. This is a bad thing. I'm sure the rest of this establishment is fine but I unfortunately had Talin shampoo and cut my hair. She was very rude and unfriendly. Didn't ask where I parted my hair. I showed her a picture and my hair does not look like the picture. She kept asking if everything was good in a tone that implied she really didn't care whether or not I liked it. Almost cut my ear off with the comb. She made my hair so knotted from the way she blow dried it. She wasn't even looking at my hair when she was blow drying it. She didn't brush my hair after it was done. She just said have a good day and walked away. I had to brush my hair myself. I understand this isn't an expensive hair salon but it doesn't cost anything to be NICE. I honestly don't know how she has a cosmetology license. I just decided to leave and get my hair fixed somewhere else because of the vibe I got from her and the complete inability to follow simple directions. read more

I was hesitant about coming here after a bad experience that happened a couple of years ago. Even though I had a bad feeling I decided to give this place another try. It was obvious that there was some sort of conflict going on with the two stylists working which made the vibe uncomfortable. Not only did I feel uncomfortable but the stylist cut my hair completely uneven when I just asked for a small trim! Went there to get my childrens haircut. The receptionist greeted me like she was annoyed to be helping me. The same person cut my children's hair she butchered it and was very rude about it. She was acting like she was doing us a favor. My daughters hair looks like a butchered Dutch boy and is uneven and my sons hair looks horrible. Very disappointing.
