I was in town visiting family and needed a haircut. I am always leery about getting my hair cut aside from my usual barber, but I took a chance because I had a wedding to attend. I found this salon from the great reviews on Yelp and learned that there was a Groupon deal for $29 for a haircut. DO NOT BUY THE GROUPON. I called the mentioning the deal and the kind receptionist said she would gladly honor the price without purchasing the Groupon. So just mention the deal when you book an appointment and they will gladly offer it to you. With this price point, you are scheduled with a specific stylist - Lanit. She was absolutely wonderful. She sat me down and consulted with me on what style I wanted. I was just looking for a trim and to fix my layers since a previous stylist really botched my layers. She understood what I was frustrated about when she was consulting with me and reassured me that she would fix it. Throughout the whole session, she explained every step she was doing whenever she had to cut off a little more, which made me trust her. And this way, you avoid any surprises with your final product. The blow out she did on me was gorgeous. I could see that she really listened to everything I was concerned about and gave me what I wanted. Beautiful salon. Impeccably clean and very friendly staff. The staff offers you tea, water, or coffee throughout your appointment, which made me feel very pampered. I bought a groupon for a cut, deep conditioning, and partial highlights. I didn't realize that balayage highlights would not be included in the groupon, but the owner worked with me and gave me a discounted price so that I could get the highlights I wanted. My stylist was Lanit and she did a wonderful job. I hate getting my hair cut and because of that I usually only go once or twice a year, but after my experience here I will consider getting a trim more often! Lanit took her time carefully planning out my balayage and actually cut my hair before the balayage so that she could ensure that the highlights fell exactly where we wanted them. My hair came out beautiful, and Dina, the owner, and her staff, were very personable, friendly, and knowledgeable, and it was apparent this shop is client-oriented. Thank You Lord!!!! I finally found a salon and hairstylist that listens and knows what I am looking for in a haircut, color, and service. Let me start by saying that I came here just looking to get a seriously needed haircut since I was 3 months overdue. The salon I previously went to was not very accommodating with last minute appointments and i was unhappy with them because they charged "extra" for what I thought would be included as part of the service. For example, if I had a haircut they would ask if I wanted my hair dried or if I had a color appointment they would charge me extra to dry my hair. I thought that was ridiculous because who wants to leave a salon with wet hair so of course I would pay their "extra" service. Also if I needed a haircut and color I would have to make 2 separate appointments because they could never fit it in on one appointment no matter when I called. Why and who had the time for this???! Anyway, I came here with no high expectations but I left extremely satisfied and happy. My hairstylist was Lanit and she just got what I was looking for in a haircut. She was friendly and I immediately could see she was a true professional. She asked me about how I would feel with some highlights to give me a lift since my color was looking full and dark. I agreed with her recommendation and after about an hour+ I was completely transformed. She took the time to listen to exactly what I wanted, and talk me through exactly how balayage should work since I'm pretty new to coloring my hair. Salon Toujours is a happening place. If you're looking for a great hair style or haircut, this is the place to go. The salon's atmosphere is very relaxing and the prices aren't too bad either. You feel very welcome the second you walk in the door. Farida has to be one of the best hair stylists in all of Bergen County. Just ask my wife or daughter. I had my hair cut by Anisa (and previously colored) as I'm familiar with her work from a previous company. We all have unique characteristics and oddities in our hair, the way it grows, the direction of the grain and the way it behaves at different lengths. Anisa has a rare ability to understand this nuance and craft a style that enhances your hair's natural characteristics. FYI I drive about an hour from upstate just for Anisa! My hair is not easy to deal with (coarse and long) and she knows exactly what to do. I've brought my friends here and they loved it as well!! I've only been here once, but my experience was pretty solid. They have a special for new clients on their website - I'd check those out before you go, there are a few good deals there! I had my hair colored, cut, washed, and blown dry. It was pretty easy from making an appointment to getting a confirmation reminder to arrival. When I got there, the stylist asked me a number of good questions about my hair & how I wanted to handle the appointment. After I told her of my needs, she pretty much followed through - no questions asked. The salon is kept neat, the stylist I had was reasonable, personable, and professional - and my color came out fantastic. I've gotten a lot of compliments on it! I came to salon Toujours after not having my hair cut for almost two years and I had a great experience. I called to make an appointment for the day I went (Saturday) and they were able to accommodation me that morning. The salon itself was beautiful-spacious, clean, and fairly busy for a Saturday morning. The receptionist was great and made sure she knew what I wanted so she could match with the appropriate stylist. I arrived at the salon and almost immediately met with my stylist, Elaine. We sat and discussed what I wanted for 10-15 minutes and discussed how it would work with my lifestyle (college student with a fairly hectic schedule) and if the cut i wanted would flatter my face. Although I originally came in thinking that I would go for a lob hairstyle, she suggested that I go with a longer cut that was more flattering to my face and would work better with my natural wavy hair. We ended up deciding to take 4 inches off and put in some layers and long bangs. I was then sent off to get shampooed by an assistant. One awkward situation that arose was that Elaine began cutting a male client's hair while I was getting mine washed. I have no problem with this except that the assistant kept conditioner in my hair and walked away for 10 minutes so that Elaine would have time to finish the client's hair. Over all, this wasn't a big deal since it allowed the conditioner to soak in and I wasn't in a rush. Next, it was off to get my hair cut. Elaine was great. She was neither too slow or too rushed during the process. The cut probably took about 20 minutes to finish (this involved layering, bangs, in addition to the shortening). During the hair cut, she was great about recommending products and giving some awesome hair care tips. She also did a beautiful blow-out following the cut and my hair looked so shiny and thick after she was done. I was immensely pleased with the results. The only drawbacks to the place were: 1. It cost 55.00 not including tip for the haircut. This is an average cost of a woman's haircut in the area though so I wasn't too surprised. 2. The parking is insane since the salon is only a few blocks from Ridgewood Ave. Definitely try and come during off-times. They have 4 spots but they have way more than 4 clients at a time so I was a little bit frustrated. 3. They wouldn't allow you tip on the credit card which is frustrating for me because I never carry cash. I wish someone had told me on the phone so I could stop at the ATM prior to entering the salon. Also, as a side note, you have to spend a minimum of $20.00 to use a credit card. They do take checks and cash though. Overall, the salon was great and I would definitely recommend Elaine as a stylist. read more

Lynette (Linet) was my hairdresser, right off the bat I completely trusted her and i am very very happy with my results. i cut about 6 inches off my hair, i had a triple process (highlights, low lights a base color and a glaze. I have never written a Yelp review, but Salon Toujours is breaking that streak and for good reason. I recently started going to the salon after discovering the amazing stylist that is Alex. I have never met a stylist who cares more about his clients, actually takes what they want into consideration, and is so knowledgable about styling and cutting hair. I've asked for a trim for my long, layered hair-- and he always gave me just that, a healthy trim and no shorter. My most recent visit, I decided to change it up after having the same hairstyle of over six years. I brought in a picture, explained that I wanted a long tousled bob below the shoulder with more bounce (my hair was long, boring and weighed down at that point) and he MORE than delivered! I've never been more excited to show off my hair and the comments from friends and family poured in on the first day! He made me comfortable during the entire process as I mentioned I was anxious about the new cut and he actually advised me against going shorter than I had planned, because he knows what looks best for your hair. The salon itself is beautiful, clean, and someone is always ready to offer you coffee or tea before you sit down. Great atmosphere.
