Got a great blow out before an important day I had in the area. It's a little annoying that they charge by 15 minutes. My blow out took like 37 minutes so I got charged for 45 but the quality was good and I left satisfied and confident. Seems like they had a lot of regulars which is always a good sign. I had high hopes as there were decent reviews but do not go here. They completely botched my highlights, I went back the same day and they attempted to fix. It was just standard highlights, and the price is ridiculous for the service they provide. Please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere!!!! I came in asking for curtain bangs after always having my hair long. Spencer suggested another option, that was a little longer and easier to work with. I started going here after it became impossible to get my hair done at the place I had gone to for years due to my schedule and the days the girl i saw worked. I had heard good things and after trying 2 others places without being blown away i thought why not Craft + Theory. I saw Gabs the first time. She really took the time to listen to my needs and understand the color I was looking for. Since I'm not always that great at explaining my vision we looked at pictures, styles and cuts until we were on the same page. I got highlights and lowlights and wow it looked amazing. Everyone from the receptionist at the front desk to those helping with the wash were so sweet and funny and I had a great time at the salon vs the boring dreaded times I usually have. I just saw Gabs again and wow she does great work. She's my girl from now on. I'm hooked! Now as for the salon itself. It's in HoHoKus on the main road but I drove past the location a few times as it's set down almost basement level compared to the other stores and restaurants. Same side as the HoHoKus Inn. Just make sure you keep and eye out and once you know you'll never miss it again. It's a smaller establishment. Very cool, modern and sleek decor. Clean and minimalistic. Worst experience in 20 years of getting my hair colored. I think I was more than patient and sympathetic to the mistake made by a new stylist until the owner got nasty/short with me, and insinuated I was trying to have old/bad color etc corrected. I have before/after pictures and returned within one week of the color job, so that was completely false. That was uncalled for and a low blow after wasting almost 3 hours of my time today trying to get the mistake corrected. After going to this salon I had nothing but wasted time, insults and $120 out of MY pocket that was not reimbursed. Kesley (receptionist) and Meg (who was left with trying to clean up the mistake from the prior stylist) were both beyond kind, attentive, and professional the entire time. UPDATE: In Fairness, I just wanted to update that the owner did reach out and apologize, and offered a refund. I had to go elsewhere for corrective color. I absolutely love this salon. You walk in and you just don't want to leave honestly. It's gorgeous, the staff is so amazing and the work is fabulous. If I could go once a week there to get my hair done, I would. They are so accommodating and super informative and genuinely want to make you feel good. Gab did an amazing job on my balayage. I went back to have her color my base a darker shade and I love it. The blend is natural and the attention to detail was really appreciated. I absolutely LOVE this salon! I wouldn't trust anyone other than Sean to even lay a finger on my hair - I've been a client of his for a few years and he is the BEST! Not only is he the sweetest person ever, but he's also an actual miracle worker - he always knows exactly how to style/cut/color my hair the way I want. We've been highlighting my naturally dark brown hair for awhile now, but the other day when I told him that I wanted to go practically blonde, he knew exactly what to do and made my hair look AMAZING! I'm so glad I found this salon...I've been really looking for a place and person to be my go to and this place is it. From Christine at the front to my stylist Jessica, everyone I encountered here was friendly and welcoming. Parking was not as bad as I thought, they have a lot in the back and there's parking all along the side streets. I wanted a bit of a change so I went from mid back length hair to a razor cut bob. Jessica is your go to if this is the look your going for. She transformed my boring and limp hair to a really easy and awesome short style. I'm I love with my new hair cut. She went step by step with what products she was using and how to style on days where I'm short on time. I asked her to show me as much as possible because I've never really been great with hair and she took the time to show me. I was also interested in getting baylage done I the next week or two and she shared different color suggestions. All in all my experience with her was just the absolute best. For once I didn't feel like a frump with the same cut, she styled and cut my hair to my needs and I love her! Definitely glad I found this place...if you're on the hunt for a salon, check their Instagram along with Jessica's page and you'll see the talent this place has. Oh and the products!!! I had never heard of r&co but I'm glad she introduced me to them. It wasn't a hard sell like other salons I had been to.
