Panico Review
They say that they eyes are the windows to your soul, so it's safe to say that the eyebrows could be considered the frames or curtains if you will. Everyone knows that even the most breathtaking views can be ruined if they are mask behind poor drapery. So if you have been previously butchered by someone else and your eyebrows are in need of rehab like me, or if you've never experienced the difference of what well shaped eyebrows do for the windows to your soul, your eyes, and your overall face, then you need to do yourself a favor and go see Nasrin.
I'm picky to all hell when it comes to eyebrows, and on a desperate whim I decided to get my eyebrows done in the city by someone who was highly recommended (I'll refrain from names). My usual eyebrow specialist (pre-Nasrin) was on vacation at the time, so I was desperate; it was either that or take the tweezers in my hand and end up ruining my shape. Long story short I was butchered, robbed, and plucked like a chicken! Not only was my beautiful arch ruined but a good full row was taken off, and I am not a fan of thin eyebrows! Having lost a lot of hair in my early 20's I was an avid castor oil user just to get my eyebrow hair to grow back! If you are familiar with eyebrow botches like these then you know that growing out area's, or eyebrow rehab period as I like to call it, is by far the hardest thing for anyone with a pair of tweezers and a magnifying mirror, much less any reflective surface.
I was back to filling in my eyebrows, another step in the morning that I didn't want to take! I was getting my hair done at Panico's one Wednesday afternoon, and I was talking about my eyebrow butchery as Nasrin was passing by, my elaborate and detailed story telling had produced a small crowd of hairstylists, assistance, and fellow patrons. As I wrapped up my tragic story, my stylists suggested that I have Nasrin take a look at them. "A look at what?", I thought to myself, "my eyebrows are filled-in and I'm not wiping and retouching". She told me that maybe a fresh pair of eyes may give me another approach to fixing the mess framing my eyes! She told me I have nothing to lose since my eyebrow specialist was traveling and there wasn't much to take off anyway since I was in my regrowth stage.
I thought of it as a consultation, a second opinion if you will. Nasrin was very pleasant, and from the beginning I told her that I have a threading specialist already, and I'm very happy with her, but she's traveling. She was very understanding and never once made me feel any pressure or attempt to persuade me to convert. She was attentive and listened. She told me that she would, if I were willing, work with me through my eyebrow rehab until my lady returned from her trip. If you are going through eye-brow rehab, hide your tweezers! The easiest ways to avoid disrupting her progress on repairing your brows, is to see her more often! For example, I would get my eyebrows done (usually every 14-18 days) when I was going through eyebrow rehab I would go back every 10-12 days. This is because the regrowth is all over the place when you're trying to fix them- and when you go back to Nasrin she knows the direction she's taking your eyebrows, and she knows which hairs are essential and which ones aren't so she cleans your eyebrows and suddenly the mess of regrowth that looked like little pepper-flakes are starting to fall into line (excuse the pun).
After she resuscitated my eyebrows I became a loyal client, now I see her every two weeks and the experience is always so pleasant. I still enjoy getting my eyebrows done by Nasrin not only because she's great but because although I'm getting hair removed, which isn't an appointment that one goes into with happy thoughts (much like the dentist after you've been told you need a root canal), I find myself eager to experience her craft again. I'm middle eastern so I know a thing or two about threading, tweezing, waxing, (etc.) and I've had experience with all types of specialists and in several different countries. But Nasrin has a cadence when she works and I've never experienced that before. There is an ebb and flow to her movements, almost like a well choreographed dance, that is both deliberate and precise. This rhythmic movement, somewhat like a highly-experience seamstress works her needle and thread you will instantly notice she's done assessing your brows and she's in full stride.
Its something you have to experience for yourself to understand what I'm talking about. Nasrin will both not only invite you into organic conversation but also is in tuned with your comfort throughout the entire process. As diligent as she is about her craft she is equally attentive to making you feel at ease. Not only is it completely worth it in every way but you'll notice the difference after your first visit and you'll agree with me! read more
