I'd like to update my review from the initial review I gave the salon when they first opened and I gave them 5 stars. I've been going to this salon for years and have always had great experiences and service. Lately, I have been traveling quite a bit and haven't gone in about a year. During this time, my go to stylist, Allison, had left the salon. Because of this I was reluctant as I wasn't informed she was leaving and I wasn't sure who I'd trust at this point to style my hair. I wasn't assured the brand new stylist they have would be a good fit because she was the same level as Allison. Upon my arrival, I was excited to visit the salon once again and begin treating my hair with them. A very strange looking lady approached me and introduced herself as the stylist that would attend to me. I was extremely reluctant to go with her and trust she would know how to take care of my needs for my hair. I asked for a TRIM, conditioner, and blow out. This lady kept cutting my hair and cutting and cutting. I had long bangs that outgrew and I was okay with that, but she said she would clean it up. She CHOPPED the bangs off so much. They were about two inches above my eyebrows. Picture that for a second. So now, my hair was down to my back and now is chopped off to my shoulders and my bangs are completely ridiculous. When I stopped her from continuing cut, she grabbed a mirror and showed me the back of my hair. It was completely uneven; completely. So she began to fix it and continue cutting. She then whacked me on my eyebrow with the brush and she absolutely did not know how to properly part my hair as a professional stylist and blow dry my hair. She seemed like it was her first time blow drying. I have to question if she is a licensed stylist just by the entire experience. I approached the owner who took me to the back and evened the hair out and tried to blow try my hair to attempt to fix it. He asked if I gave her a photo of what I wanted and I said no because it was supposed to simply be a trim. No more than an inch and a half at most. I looked at how horrible my hair was at this point and kept saying, "I can't believe this." No discount and I paid ladies. That is the last money they will ever see from me. I will never return and I have spread the word. This is unacceptable, especially after I heard the owner and the manager talking badly about me as if I had no reason to be upset. This experience was traumatic and now I'm dealing with people asking me, "what happened to your hair?" It's nothing I can do and I have to just wait until my hair grows out a little. But the bangs? There's nothing I can do to even move it away or hide it. This is the WORST haircut I've ever received and I hope all reading this caution before coming here for a trim. Especially since there are other clients that have complained about bad haircuts here. read more

My hair was an absolute DISASTER ZONE after a horrific haircut at a different salon, and after just ~45 minutes I left Elie Tanous Salon feeling so much happier and more confident. Mina is beyond kind, has a wonderful sense of humor, and was so damn knowledgeable about my hair type and what was wrong with my previous cut. She explained exactly what she needed to do to set me right. Her skill and experience let her salvage *way* more length than I thought possible; I was resigning myself to needing to chop **a lot** off to make it look good again after the botch job I came in with. BACKGROUND: I've been going to the same stylist out of state since I was 16 years old (so, nearly 17 years). When she retired, I trusted her colleague to take care of me until my latest cut was butchered. I saw reviews for Elie Tanous Salon, saw it was literally half a mile from my work, and RAN on in during a break. While my hair is super cute overall and looks as good as possible given the starting-point, I don't want to do Mina the disservice of posting before and after pictures just yet. She explained that the front of my hair needs to grow out and re-thicken a bit after the previous fiasco (the face-framing layers I asked for on the previous cut came out as two uneven, horizontal shelves of hair). Marisol consulted with me and was very clear on how she would adjust the haircut I requested to meet my hair length. I'm EXTREMELY picky about the hair salon/stylist that does my hair. Having gone to a family friend FOREVER in New York, doing the commute was getting annoying. Living close to Riverside Square Mall, I've walked past this salon multiple times and never going in. It's been under different owners and have gone through a few names and I finally decided to make an appt on a whim. I literally looked at my hair one night and made the appt online (so convenient). Reviews from Yelp obviously helped ease my mind about the salon so I said F it. The fact they're opened on Sundays is SO convenient for someone like me who works 9-5 Monday through Friday. Their hours are reasonable and the place is super clean and sleek. My appt was at 11am on Sunday and there was a good amount of people in there.. Upon arrival, I was greeted by friendly faces- someone offered to take my jacket and offered me a drink while I waited for them to get the stylist for an initial consult. I met Roxanne within 5 minutes of sitting there and we chatted a little about what my expectations were. She took a 'before' photo of my hair and when I told her it was my first time, she quickly showed me around so I wasn't completely overwhelmed and/or looked like I've never been to a hair salon before. After the quick introduction, I got my hair washed which always feels amazing - I'm also very particular about the types of chairs they have at the washing station (weird, I know), but I'm a very petite person and when the seats lay down flat like a bed, I can barely reach the actual bowl...THANKFULLY, the seats were upright and inclined enough where I didn't have to somehow push myself up to the bowl with my feet...the bowl itself was adjustment to height and it made me extremely relieved. So stupid but it's something I worry about! ANYWAY, after my wash, Roxanne went to work her magic with my hair. I wanted a very clean, chin-length, blunt cut and she immediately went to work. We chatted to get to know each other better but it was just a very comforting experience all together. When certain salons looks fancy, it can be intimidating for people to even walk in, thinking the prices are going to be astronomical...truthfully I get my hair done probably twice a year so I guess splurging really isn't a big deal, especially when you're getting treated well! I was there for a little over an hour and Roxanne never rushed through my haircut- she made sure my hair was perfect before leaving and I was satisfied with what she was doing. Once she was done, she took an 'after' picture and sent me on my way. All in all, I had a great experience here...it was quiet on a Sunday so finding parking in the garage wasn't a big deal, the place wasn't super packed and making an appt definitely helps. No one forced any products on me which I really appreciate because I've gone to place where they try and sell me what they're using on my hair. Roxanne did give me some tips on how to limit the static of my hair during the cold, dry, months but didn't advertise the things she was putting in my hair to make me feel obligated to purchase anything. I REALLY appreciate that! Everyone working there was SO nice and complimented on the work Roxanne had done which was a total confident booster oh my end! I'll definitely be coming back, knowing the services they offer range from hair coloring, correcting, simple cuts/wash/styling, etc. Having observed all the stylists there, I don't doubt they ALL do amazing work! read more

Cut was great, color is decent. I got a balayage. There was pretty much no consult, she didn't ask what I wanted. I showed a picture for reference and she glanced at it. My hair ended up looking nothing like the picture. Much more blonde and streaky than i wanted. It's not the worst I have ever had but not exactly what I went in wanting. I thought about getting it corrected somewhere else but I've already spent $300 at this salon for cut and color. Also of note, they don't allow you to tip on a credit card. So unless you have cash you can not tip. There was an atm in the store but I didn't have my debit card on me. They should make it easier to tip their employees. Found my new salon! I went during COVID, and wore a double-mask but once I got in I didn't feel too nervous about being in a public space. They managed the spacing well-enough. There was construction going on, but once it's done it's meant to add more space between clients which I'm sure I'll appreciate in the future. All the staff (from welcoming me and hanging up my coat to washing my hair) were so friendly and so easy to get on with. I had Roxanne and she completely revived my hair. My hair was long but damaged from all the months of COVID-hair bun and walking out I felt absolutely renewed! She was also very easy to talk to and also gave me so many tips on how to customise my hair care for my hair type. Absolutely recommend her! I've been coming here for a while now, and I absolutely love it. I've gone for blow outs, make up, color and a cut. The staff is professional, salon is clean, and everyone is always timely. I've gone to a number of hair dressers, and I've never been disappointed. Johani and Gadeer are my go to stylists for sure. AJ always does my make up and it has been on point every time. They're open 7 days a week, they open at 8am, and they're open most holidays. They are also right by the covered parking garage which is super nice. A high-end, upscale salon can sometimes come across cold and disingenuous, but not this salon. I was met by a very welcoming staff member, Nathaly, who made me feel like an old friend. Went in this morning to change up my look from a "lob" to a very short cut, and I found him not only incredibly skilled and talented as a hair stylist, but also simply a delightful, positive person. He understood right away that I wanted a cut that didn't require lot of tools or time, and I feel that I really benefited from his vast experience working with very straight, fine hair like mine. He knew exactly how my hair would behave and cut it accordingly, because he likes to work with what you've got and embrace the positives--which I believe to be a terrific quality (and a rare one among the hair stylists I have been to in the past). I had the luck of being referred to this wonderful salon. I had even better luck of having the salons owner work on me. I was absolutely desperate and was treated like a VIP. Not only was the place immaculate but the design was elegant as well as comfortable. Eli knew exactly what I needed and pretty much gave me the best haircut and style that I have had in years. He even took the time to show me how to style my new doo. I really liked that he didn't push products on me but did explain what I needed to make my hair healthy and what I had been using that was bad. As for price? All I can say was that I paid less then what I have paid at other salons for worse hair cuts. I had never felt more content and happy after leaving a salon EVER.
