    My hair before going into the salon and getting my haircut by Tony

    Hello. I came to J&CO on Saturday at 11am with Tony, 3/9/24. Before arriving, the receptionist promised me that Tony would be able to cut my hair if I provided him with picture of what I want. I called twice just to make sure, and the receptionist ensured me that he was good and would be able to do the haircut I wanted. Once there, I provided him with a picture of what I wanted, but he did something completely different. The end result is traumatizing. It is uneven all over, with no uniform, choppy, botched, and extremely short( 8 inches removed). During the appointment, I observed that Tony seemed preoccupied with his own ego. During his talk, he boasted about his skills, and how he cut some of the most famous people's hair, saying these are the most expensive scissors that have been used on your hair, and ever will be used. Being so preoccupied, I am not sure if he fully understood my request or respected it. Proving this, during one of our discussions, I expressed to him that I had a modern shag that had finally grown out, and told him that I would never want it again. I later asked if he was doing the haircut I showed him because something was off, and he said he was doing a shag and in-between the one I wanted, proving he didn't respect my request. It was too late to say anything my hair was too short. I also noticed that his hands were shaking, and he almost slurring his words. This situation is unfair. It was planned for me to be proposed to this year, something so special with the person I love. Now, however, because of this I'm unsure if that's still possible. I wanted to feel beautiful and I do not feel that way right now. Instead, I feel sad, unconfident, and tricked. Please find pictures of my hair now, what it looked like prior to Tony cutting my hair, and the photo of the hair cut I requested. -------------- After the haircut disaster, they refunded me the money I paid. They agreed my hair was not what I wanted, and that Tony was wrong for what he did. But here's the kicker - they admitted they couldn't fix my messed-up hair and suggested I wait a year for it to grow back, and a free blow out. Not exactly the fix I wanted. I emailed and left voicemails, hoping for some kind of solution, but I didn't hear back. I am aware they are closed on Sunday and Monday. Frustrated, I called them on Tuesday at 2:00 pm. When on the phone, the receptionist admitted she saw my email on Tuesday morning but didn't respond, or call me back. The receptionist also stuck to her guns, saying they did their part by giving me back my money, and offering a blow dry. (ha) I explained that the money does not fix my hair - it was still a hot mess. The situation is unfair and unethical. There is no monetary gain in my mind; all I want is a fair solution to the problem of my hair. During our conversation, I mentioned that they might be able to assist me with funds to fix my hair elsewhere. I just want to feel confident about myself again, you know? It's not about getting more money; it's about finding a real solution to this haircut nightmare. I requested the receptionist to give me a call back today and also asked for the owner to reach out, but I haven't heard from either of them. Given the lack of communication, my only recourse is to share my experience through a review, hoping it prevents others from going through a similar ordeal. P.S- Just a heads up - if you decide to try out this salon, best of luck getting an appointment. The first time I attempted, the receptionist never got back to me. It took me calling again a month later before I was finally able to book anything. Just do yourself a favor and stay far away from this hair salon.

    I've been going to this salon for years and have always had an incredible experience. I trust the entire team and appreciate how honest and professional they are. When I first asked my main stylist (MeeRee) to start dyeing my hair, she explained that my color was quite complicated and recommended a color specialist (Natasha) instead. That level of transparency really showed how much they care about getting it right. I've had nothing but amazing cuts and color here, and I always leave feeling confident and refreshed. Highly recommend!

    Amanda is amazing!!! I got my hair done for the first time yesterday and she did phenomenal. I was so nervous and she made me really comfortable. My hair looks exactly like the picture I showed her. She knows what she's doing and is really good at it! I wouldn't go to anyone else. I got a hair cut after and I feel like the guy was really rough, probably the roughest hair cut I've ever gotten. However, I do like it. The salon itself is really nice and clean as well.

    My first experience at J&Co was really good, and I may have found my new go-to hair stylist / salon. Ever since I've moved to Hackensack (about a year ago) I've explored a few different salons in the area, and J&Co is the winner!! I'm a believer that you get what you pay for so the salon isn't for everyone, but the work they do their prices definitely match the quality. I got a balayage by Amanda, and the entire experience from start to finish was enjoyable.

    I love this salon! I have tried other nearby salons but J&Co is definitely the best. The hospitality is always awesome and the prices can't be beat. I've been going to J&Co for over a year now and always make an appt with Natasha for my highlights. She's the BEST!!! I'm always so happy with my color when I leave the salon. This most recent appt she did partial highlights with clear glaze and my color has never looked better! For reference- my hair is naturally medium brown this time of year. Natasha really listens to what you want and nails it every time. She's also super sweet! Valentina cut my hair and also did an incredible job! She listened to what I wanted & took her time with making sure the cut was just perfect. I've had Judy cut my hair in the past & she is also exceptional. Thank you J&Co and ladies :)

    Hands down the best haircut I have ever gotten my entire life! Meeree did an AMAZING job. She gave me exactly what I had asked for. She kept the length as I had emphasized that point to her. She added texture and long layers to my hair. My hair looks gorgeous than ever! I highly recommend booking an appointment with Meeree. She's soo sweet and nice :) Her job was like an artwork. She also took the time to show me how to style it in a particular way with the curling iron. Oh and I got to say that all the other staffs there were very very welcoming and professional. Overall it was a great visit. I definitely will be coming back! Thank you so much Meeree!

    I recently moved to the area and was super stressed about finding a new stylist. J & Co had some great reviews and I decided to book an appointment for a haircut. I arrived at the salon, which is bright and modern, and I was soon introduced to Dani. His warm and open personality and sense of humor immediately calmed my nerves and I knew I was in good hands. We looked over some pictures of styles I liked and we decided on a cut that would work best for my hair. As he cut, we discussed possible color options for a future visit since he's also a color specialist. His blowout was amazing and I ended up loving my new cut. It was obvious he listened to me because my hair was exactly what I had envisioned. I promised I'd see him soon for some color. This past weekend I booked another appointment with Dani to have my hair dyed and blown out and had the same great experience as my first visit. I left the salon feeling like a million bucks. My new color has already gotten me so many compliments and I can't wait to go back to see what other magic Dani has hiding up his sleeves! If you're in need of a new look, go see Dani and get ready to love every minute you're in his chair.

    Completely disappointed and beyond insulted by the owner of this hair salon. I have been coming here since I moved to NJ. Meeree and Christina have done my cut and color. I have used them before weddings and events and I have spent hundreds of dollars getting my hair done at j and co. I love meeree And Christina. So I bought my mother a groupon for Christmas for a cut, balayage, glaze, and blow out because I loved them so much and they did such an amazing job with my hair. It stated clearly "any stylist can be used" as long as you come on a Tuesday's or Wednesday's. There is a photo attached below of the Groupon where it says "any stylist may be booked". It was the only reason I bought the groupon in the first place for my mother. My mom called to make her appointment and they refused to let her use the stylist she wanted. She explained it said any stylist on the groupon (which they wrote, groupon had nothing to do with it. This was J and Co wording). The receptionist first told my mother "there is no way it says that". I opened groupon and showed her it said any stylist. I offered to send a photo of it saying "any stylist". They said, well, we have changed it since then, so we can no longer use any stylist. How is that my problem? You can't just change that rule for people who bought it before you decided to change that rule. You change the rule after this groupon expires, not when a customer calls to use something they already bought! The receptionist then asked both meeree and Christina to honor the Groupon price and they both declined. That is their right, I guess, but it's the owners fault it said "any stylist" and j and co should have honored it, even if they lost money. The customers should not be treated like dirt because they bought something the business sold and expects the store to uphold their offer. The receptionist then asked my mother to hold to speak with owner. My mom asked me to talk to her and handed me the phone. The owner came on immediately angry, rude and lashing out. She would not even let me speak. She kept talking over me, interrupting me, and yelling at me. As if we were trying to trick them or fool them out of money. I tried to calmly explain that the groupon said we could use any stylist. The owner told me to "get over it, it wasn't going to happen, no one else has ever complained about not using any stylist, I'm not going to change her mind. So get over it". She was extremely condescending, rude, unprofessional and nasty to me all because I wanted her business to honor the deal they put on groupon. When I again politely asked her why she wouldn't honor what her business sold, She then lied to me and said the stylists she wants to see don't work Tuesdays and Wednesday's anyway. That's a lie and I told her so. She said, "well, it doesn't matter because you aren't getting your way, so stop asking. You refuse to take no for an answer." I asked her why she was being so rude and unprofessional and she said because I forced her to leave a client. Well, I am a client too and no one forced her to come to the phone and leave her client. It is not my fault that they said any stylist could be used when they didn't actually want that to be so. They should honor the groupon as it says. "Any stylist may be used, on Tuesdays and Wednesday by April 20, 2020."All those things were being followed by my mother. They just regretted offering it and decided to bully clients into "getting over it". At the end of this unprofessional nasty conversation, the owner of j and co then hung up on me! What business owner does that? I have had excellent experiences with the stylists mentioned above, and it's sad that I can no longer use this salon because the owner is an immature and combative person who doesn't honor their clients with honesty or respect. Any other salon would have honored what the Groupon said, especially when a repeat client was sending a new client their way. I am sure the owner won't care, because she said she didn't care many times. She is banking off her stylists being talented and thinks she can do and say anything to clients she wants to mistreat and lie to because people will keep coming for the good stylists. As you can see in attached photo, I have no reason to lie or exaggerate. I was telling the truth and just asking for the business to honor a product they chose to sell. Again, disappointing.

    Got my hair colored from Amanda and hair cut from Pocholo! They both did such an amazing job! Took their time and explained everything to me. My Hair color came out great! Definitely recommend the amazing duo team!!

    Time for a review! One Saturday early early morning I started looking after hair salons in Bergen area. Checked out yelp reviews and got to this place. Called, I was lucky that someone else canceled and got an appointment at 11 am. Usually I am stressed out when I need to color my hair because so many things can go wrong hahaha :)) Fast forward, my colorist was Christina and went for a blow dry with Valentina. Christina: - she is sooo nice happy to have met her - I had an old ombré and she explained that my roots are too orange for my skin tone and she will tone it down and touch up the ombré as well so the transition would look good - the result was as promised and o was really really happy with the result (even now after a while my white hair is not showing up!) Valentina: - I told her to do whatever she wants to and oh boy the result was fabulous! (Loose curls, perfect hair) - she is fast! :) - applied heat protection spray - did not use flat iron and I am okay with not using flat iron! I like the natural look after a good blow dry using only a brush Overall: - hair salon looks really nice! Nice atmosphere, music, overall a good vibe :) Will definitely return!

She's friendly, inviting, and very personable. She puts you at ease and make sure that you're relaxed. She's also very communicative making sure that she understands exactly what your needs are. Every time I call Cecilia answers his phone and says hello Barbara, which adds such a nice touch a nice, personal touch. They offer many different types of Sugaring but I can say that each time Cecilia does it she does an excellent job. She talk you through it while she's Sugaring you and make sure that you're OK and also always ask if you have any questions. I would definitely recommend anybody that is looking for a new location or has never had a sugaring before and wants a new experience or any other services to check them out. It's an excellent location And the space is absolutely gorgeous. You walk it is calming, it's serene, and inviting. The decor is just absolutely beautiful.

It was the worst, most amateur, and unpleasant experience, and I won't be back. (I left messages on your Insta, asking the manager to reach out, and both DM's were ignored.) Anyway, Isis talked about how guests come there for a "relaxing" experience. I'd just had a close friend die, and told her I needed calm and quiet. She proceeded to ignore my request and would not stop talking for an hour. About what she makes for dinner after work. About her tattoos and all the new ones she plans to get. About some upcoming party she was cooking for. Meanwhile, her actual work was spotty, inconsistent, and patchy since she wasn't paying attention to what she was doing, as she was too distracted by her own stories the entire time to focus on me. I knew the results would be mediocre, incomplete, and not good enough -- and unfortunately, I was right. When I got home, I looked more closely at my legs. I saw that my thighs hadn't been touched, and my calves were a hit or miss. Considering the price, the overall vibe, and feeling obligated to tip Isis 20%, it was a waste of my time and money. Isis is rough, and rough around the edges. She is immature and inexperienced. She told me she'd *just* graduated from beauty school, and it shows. She lacks social skills, professionalism, emotional IQ, and waxing expertise. Her touch is heavy-handed, and the way she spreads the wax (I've done this professionally for years myself) is thick, clunky, and hard. So by the time she pulls it off, it's unnecessarily uncomfortable. I take no pleasure leaving such a negative review. But she was awful and I'm sad I have to go elsewhere now.

It's way too much regrowth with a week to be pulled from the follicle. I've had many brazilian waxes before and I've never had so many ingrowns after.

It was a very uncomfortable and tense atmosphere. 2. The woman who did my waxing kept trying to thread my face. I do not like threading but she didn't listen to me. She said she is very skilled at threading, which I'm sure she is, but that's not what I wanted. If she can't do just a face wax and has to thread, she should inform the client of that before the appointment begins. She ended up just waxing but was very upset about it. 3. She kept slapping the wax paper on my face. LITERALLY. She was hitting my face with her open palm and an unnecessary amount of force. My face kept jolting every time she did it due to sheer force. I told her if she does it again I would be leaving. She told me "you never told me that I was doing it too hard"...I'm sorry, do I have to tell you not to slap something onto my face??? What kind of logic is that for a beauty salon? After I said this, she said "Well I told you threading would be better". It felt like she was just upset I told her not to thread my face and was being petty. 4. She raised the price of the service. It was supposed to be $25 (I got it without the neck), but she said it was being changed to $45. I told her that isn't fair, as the sign says $25. Again, she should really be advertising these changes. The wax itself was fine, but this is one of the tensest and most unprofessional beauty salon appointments I've ever had. Steer clear of this shop.

    Deceptive practices by reception!!!…read more Upon check-out, I was informed that my wax pass had only one more service and that they were running their summer promotion. I was initially not going to renew my wax pass - SOLELY - because it made more sense for me to pay individually with how infrequently I actually needed a wax anymore. I was informed of the pricing on my pass and remarked how it was LESS THEN HALF of what it normally was (I had purchased the pass before), and she GUSHED about how their promotion was the best deal she had ever seen. I repeated myself to make sure that the pricing was correct and she reassured me that it was, so I re-upped on the pass, they said they would charge my card on file 'for the full amount' I was quoted, and I felt fine about the renewal given the deal and knowing it wouldn't expire. 2 months later, my credit card is charged again, for the same amount I paid the previous month- as if I am paying installments for a service I initially did not want to renew. I am livid. Customer service does not respond to emails, and the phone number to make appointments does nothing to resolve this issue either, as they have no idea what they're doing. This is not the first time I am having billing issues with EWC- and that previous time they didn't resolve it either. I'd imagine with the competition from other means of better hair removal these days, they allow these people to behave in such an immoral way. I will place a dispute with my CC company and should that fail, be sure to avoid this location for any and all business, which is a shame, as the aestheticians / waxers are lovely people. When these services are finished, I will not return to this company for anything

    A local salon with a spa feel. I have gone to this salon…read morelocation since one opened here over 10 years ago. I find a technician I like and see them regularly. My nail beds are sensitive and I stick with someone who can make my nails look good and not hurt me. I get compliments on my manicures all the time. The current owner/manager Michelle is friendly. She's always hustling, not in a bad way. (Why don't you get a massage?, You should try our new facialist!, etc). They do offer A LOT of services and have private rooms for waxing, facials, eyelashes, etc. What I love about the place is it is relatively quiet and relaxing. People are asked to keep cell phone use short, children do not come in and get noisy, there is no TV. Kids are great but grown-ups are allowed some peace and quiet in some places. It has the most spa-like atmosphere of the nail salons in the area.

My appointment was obviously rushed which hugely impacted the quality, as both services were completed and I was out the door by 10:30am. This was evident when the following day, on the day of my wedding, two of my finger nails chipped halfway through my pre-ceremony photos (approx. 2:30pm). Additionally, the polish was completely chipped and gone from one of my toes by around 6pm. A gel manicure and pedicure should last more than 24 hours, especially when you're made aware it is for an immensely important occasion for the client. The only positive about my experience is the salon appeared clean. Would not return or recommend to others.
