This place saved the day and earned a new customer for life. I like to think my haircut is generally pretty simple, my part is easy to find, 3/4 of my hair gets a razor all around it... always went to the cheapest spots for it.. I had an important event coming up and had gone to my usual spit, missed the part completely, uneven on the trimming.. an overall mess. I looked for highly rated places hoping I could call and have a walk in to fix this mess.. This salon is great. My hair has never looked better and is complimented all the time. Sal is wonderful. He listens to what I want, but won't let me do anything he thinks will be bad for my hair. He just gets me. I found this on a groupon, and I know that I will not look for another salon. As for people complaining about appointment times, well, an appointment is just that- an appointment! I've been going to Nelund Minton for a few yrs and the staff is very courteous, friendly and attentive. I love my stylist Liz she is so knowledgeable and I completely trust her with my hair. She knows what works and what doesn't for me. When I first went to her I had such damage to my hair from yrs of doing it myself she completely turned my look around. If you are fearful or not sure what to do please have a consult with Liz she'll spend as much time as you need to get it right. She's well worth the trip! read more

They have a groupon which is really affordable. Honestly I got the worst haircut I've ever gotten here though. I wanted a lob and the woman got so excited that I was doing a big change that she ended up cutting 8 inches off my hair. It was up to my chin with mullet layers. Awful! Do not waste your time or money here. Because of school traffic, I was 7 minutes late for my 3:30 appointment with Jim. After waiting for 5 minutes, I was told that Jim had left to run an errand because I wasn't on time. (I then realized that the man already in his car waiting to leave the parking lot at 3:37 was Jim.) He would be back as soon as possible and that I should wait. At 3:50, I asked when he would be back and was informed "as soon as he is done", but that he had a 4:00 appointment coming in so wouldn't really have time to do my hair regardless. Apparently, Jim had somewhere better to be. I'm sure there are lots of better places to get my hair colored as well. Avoid at all costs. read more

Oy. I really hate to do this. Sometimes you know, you have to. I bought a Groupon for full highlights and a cut. I was given a stylist that apparently has ZERO experience with short hair. Or with highlights. Sigh. I went in looking foxy, and came out looking freaky! I have/HAD beautiful, short auburn hair with honey/caramel highlights - and I'm definitely that girl that gets complimented on her hair at least once a day by strangers! So, she was just, inexperienced. I really don't blame the stylist, I blame the management for allowing her to be the first (and last, most likely) impression of the salon. Bring in a new customer with a great deal, and then give them the most inexperienced stylist in the place? Way to get people to steer clear. And like the other reviewer, I agree that the staff were nice, and the stylist was nice. But nice doesn't help my hair. This is an upscale area of NJ, and for a salon to really make it, you have to have something special. TRUST is key. That's what keeps a client coming back. The minute you lose trust, it's all over. Mind you, I was upset the day this happened, and I realized I better not say anything to the stylist because I didn't want her to attempt to 'fix' it. As it was, she gave me "highlights" that were big blotches of brassy gold all over my head. My hair is short in the back. I looked like I had intentionally bleached a leopard pattern on the back of my head. She decided to 'fix' that with a brown dye, so now the top of my head was shocking blonde and the back was dark brown. I was in shock. Took a pic of myself to send my husband. I called the salon after I left and spoke with the owner. They had me come back for the colorist and the owner to both fix my hair. Mind you now, it was SO short after the owner tried to fix it, and even though I asked him to cut the neckline tight against the skin, in other words, close. He said no, that wouldn't look feminine. Sigh. So, the colorist was great, I mean, she just did a toner to tone down the blonde. But I had no problem with her, she listened and did what she could I guess. You can't really correct that kind of mistake. Even 2 months later, I still have blonde patches on my head. Not 3 weeks later I had to go spend another $65 at another salon to cut my hair the way I asked for it to be cut in the first place. My daughter had a similar experience. Her hair is long and straight, so it's easier, but her color also did not come out well. Just be careful when making your appointment, and go by a recommendation from a friend, or someone whose hair you admire. I'm sorry, I'm sure there are some decent stylists here, but this was my experience. read more

I have had MANY hair salon nightmares, but I have to say that Brenda was AMAZING. We had a great consult, and she gave me exactly what I wanted. I had long, dead hair (because of a horrible ombré experience) and she transformed my head. The only reason I give 3 stars is because of the highlights I received. Super streaky and way too light (after being toned down already). I will definitely be returning for a cut, but will be heading elsewhere for the color for sure. read more

So I bought a deal on groupon for this place and yes everyone was friendly and the stylist was nice but that doesnt help my hair. The cut is horrible I cant do anything with it. I hate to have to write such a horrible review especially because everyone in this salon was so nice but I'm very upset with how my hair came out. I went here with a groupon and my hairstylist did not listen to what I wanted. She definitely didn't know how to deal with my hair's texture and length. Her name I believe was Kathleen or Katherine not sure. I asked for golden highlights and she made them so light that I looked like I left the salon with white hair at 27 years old! The cut was/is awful! I asked for minimal length to be taken off and she cut it up to my shoulders. Then the blowdry! Ayayayaya I walked out of the salon looking like a puffy poodle. I went back the next day after calling to complain and then was only given a glaze which I know is temporary and then was told if I wanted a blow dry I would have to pay for it... Ummm sorry but it was your fault that the color came out so awful and secondly after the first blow out I would not let the woman near me with a blow dryer and brush again anyway. I'm sorry but I will never return to this place again and I should've realized it when I walked in that this salon seems to deal with woman who are more in their 40's and over and most likely prefer a different style which is not mine. I have curly long hair and I wanted to keep my length and freshen it up not cut it and give me white streaks! I still tipped $20 because I'm not evil but I would never drop another penny on this salon. If you love your hair stay away from this place you will leave very upset! read more

My hair looks like a mullet, it does not flow smoothly and seems like it was cut by someone who just graduated from beauty school.
