Came here with my 18 month old for his first haircut and Sarah was AMAZING at making my son feel comfortable she had the TV on for distraction as she made sure that she didn't do any movements that would startle him. The front of the place was has 2 seats for toddlers while the backroom was for the older kids. The place was clean and warm for the winter months so you don't have to worry about your child being cold taking off an extra layer the cut. It was such a good experience and they saved a lock of his hair with a certificate for him as his first hair cut experience. I came on Sunday which provided ample parking and the haircut lasted about 20 mins. The only reason for the four star is because the price is a little steep for a toddler cut ($34)...but it's not like I'll come every week for a cut. Wife and I brought our kid here a few months ago for his first haircut right before he turned 1. The owner did an amazing job cutting his hair and saved a piece of it. We also got a certificate with the hair attached! They have TV's in front of every station playing all kinds of kid shows. They really do a great job with having the kids lost in lala land as they do their job. The owner did a really nice job of cutting his hair and did it with the way his hair naturally parts and flows. My wife brought him back a month ago to get a 2nd haircut. The place is very very clean! It feels sanitized lol! It is very very very very very decorated! And it will keep any kid mentally busy while in there haha! My only thing is the price, 30 + for a haircut is a tad steep, but I guess they have a ton of overhead with what they do... My son is the absolute worst haircut customer you could imagine. He needs to be restrained, screams the entire time and kicks like a mule as if for spite. The woman who cuts his hair is so patient with him - mostly laughs at how silly he's being and always manages to get a good result. Most importantly - she just carried on with the haircut as if everything was fine and dandy - and never made my wife or me feel embarrassed for the way our kid was acting. Ok. This is the first time to visit there. We got the worst hair cut experience. Maria is the worst hair stylist I ever met, I was very uncomfortable. other than that, her hair cut skill is terrible. We're very happy with this place! Posted on FB Bergen County Moms group for recommendations on where to take our son for his 1st haircut (preferably somewhere open on a Sunday), and several moms recommended Snips for Pips in Ridgewood (with Maria). The salon is super cute, has toys for sale, cars where the kids sit in to get their haircuts, TV's in front of each car, and several things to keep kids occupied while getting a cut. While Maria was more on the quiet side, she did an amazing job cutting our son's hair and she was very careful with him. I was in the other day with my toddler. The woman who cut his hair (Maria) barely spoke to my husband and I, didn't interact with my son at all, and it was overall not a pleasant experience. I understand we all have bad days, but we paid $40 for a haircut that was just ok, the stylist didn't even smile at my son, and the whole thing was over in five min. She just cut it and didn't offer to style his hair at all, so I had to ask if she could use a gel or something. We'd been here before and had a good experience, but now we'll never be back. $40 for a haircut at a children's salon where the stylist doesn't even acknowledge the child? You'd be much better off going elsewhere. read more

My now 3.5 year old is notorious for agreeing to get his hair cut until it's actually his turn and he has to actually do it. At this point he refuses to get it cut. And when we manage to bribe him into getting the cut, it's always a rush job, because we never know when he's going to be done with sitting still. This place managed to get it right. They have DVDs!! A selection to choose from! My son actually sat in the shiny red car and watched Thomas and friends and the stylist was able to leisurely cut his hair right. I recently took my 1 year old son for his first cut. We had no issues! He sat in the police car and played with the steering wheel the entire time! We got a certificate with his first lock of hair cut off. They cut the hair off dry so there was no mold to speak of. We are definitely repeat customers! read more

Sick of awkward ridged looking bangs at our old salon, I willed myself to overlook the $29/hair cut and brought my pre-schooler here to try it out. Up until now, like many parents I imagine, I've kept the curly soft baby hair on that head for as long as I could. But alas, I cannot deny the unruly nature it has become, so a significant change is called for. We were greeted by Myra immediately. I showed her a picture of what I wanted, she got to work right away. My kid has never seen the buzzer and it is loud, metallic, and strange. Tears flowed, accompanied by "I don't want my haircut!". Myra managed to work through this level of incorporation swiftly and expertly. She kept her cool and made him feel as comfortable as she could. We LOVE the haircut. It is drastically shorter and I still love it. Bottomline: I will definitely be back, specifically with Myra. read more

I had to write a glowing review for Rita who did my son's first haircut this weekend. She was AMAZING! He cried hysterically (not their fault) and she managed to work swiftly and beautifully around him. I thought she was like a magician I couldn't believe my eyes! The transformation was amazing. My son loved the cool cars to sit in and the toys and dvds. Unfortunately the second he saw the scissors he freaked out. Rita tried to calm him but he's tough and we know that! I am honestly shocked this place doesn't get better reviews. We showed her pictures of what we wanted and she explained how she would be able to do a version of that for my son and I was thrilled with the results! I have taken my son here multiple times but will not take him anymore. I've had good experiences with other people but my experience with Maria was so terrible. She didn't even acknowledge my son once. Not even a "Hi". My son got a little fussy when she put on the cover/robe so she just took it off and cut his hair without it - so he was covered in hair. When she was done 5 minutes later she just pointed at the lint roller. Didn't even say anything. I had to ask her to at least use the blow dryer to get the hair off. I have gone here twice, once with a 2 year old and once with a 1 year old. My first experience was with a young man who took so long to give my son his hair cut he cried. My second time was with the actual owner, whom I thought was really gruff and unfriendly for someone who works primarily with children. Their set up is amazing, they have everything from the car seats to video games for older kids. But I think it's worth driving a bit farther to Pompton Lakes to Zanya's cuts for kids. read more

But I was left unimpressed by the haircut my 14 month old received. To be fair, he was SUPER pissed at having to have his hair cut yet again, and was squirming around like no other. I give the woman cutting his hair a lot of credit for staying patient and not being phased by it. It was only towards the end of my 11 month old's haircut that I saw the pricing list and gasped. $25 for a little boy's haircut?? Are you kidding me? But guess what? I really didn't care. My son looked adorable and it was genuinely a good haircut. Yes, it only took 5 min which makes it a lot pricey and you're paying for the adorable little cars instead of barber chairs and fancy TVs that play Mickey Mouse clubhouse. That's what it's about though, right? A cute photo op and no tears from the kids. Jan was so good with my son and kept shooting her flirtatious smiles towards the end of his haircut. Before she used the hair dryer she asked me if it was ok so she didn't run the risk of upsetting him. Will we be back? Ehh....maybe 1x per year? 1x per quarter? The kid's hair grows fast and it's hard to justify paying more for his haircuts than my husband's. Little tip: they do take reservations. We have come here for the last couple of years and have used Myra for most of my son's haircuts. As a toddler, he's always unpredictable, but she is patient and always does a good job. My husband took our son for haircut this morning. Our usual stylist was overbooked so someone else gave my son a haircut. When they got home and I saw him I was horrified! The hair was not cut but chopped! Uneven everywhere! Even bangs! Above the ear too much was taken of so it looks completely ridiculous. This is not the first time I am not happy with the haircut he gets there but this is just outrageous. I pay $35 for less than 10 min of work that they do and I get this mess. Never again! read more

Hands down the best salon for children & even the entire family. Great staff! Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Love that there are three sections for each stylist to work and provide personalized attention. The salon is spotless! They do a fantastic job of cleaning between cuts and have a satisfying system to comply with COVID regulations. We've been going for years!!! Sara is amazingly talented! Today was my third time going to this place with my 2 year old boy. 2 Previous times were good, I believe Jaime did it second time, she was great! She was quick, nice, and kept my son entertained. However, today Shani did a horrible job. She just came with the buzzer and with no warning push my boy's head down and started to buzz! He got so scared! Cried for the rest of the cut ... he had cuts since he was 6 months- never cried! I've been there a number of times for my girls and the haircuts are terrible! My older daughter has straight hair and last time there were a bunch of longer pieces. They did fix it for her when I asked though. The place is good for kids with the entertainment and cars that they sit in for their haircuts, so it's hard not to go once you start, but the haircuts are really not very good. read more

The only good part was the snip of hair and certificate was cute(but they put 2016th on it. We walked in and I said it was my sons first birthday and first haircut. I don't expect a firework show but when I tell you it's my son's first birthday and I'm paying $30 for a hair cut, I expect you to smile, maybe say Happy Birthday little guy? He wasn't even moving around that much and she was squeezing his face enough to keep him still, she definitely could've done a better job. Horrible! I took my son there a few times. Every time it has been a disappointment. I always hope we will get someone better. I have tried a different person every visit. I had one decent haircut out of the 4 times I was there. The last time I was there was Sunday and when we got the owner I thought this has to be good, she owns this shop and has experience. Boy was I wrong. She seemed rushed and unfocused. And not nice at all. I was looking at my sons hair and she snaps at me "is something wrong?" Not in a nice way. I was scared to even say anything. I didn't have the chance to really look at his hair until we got home because they were rushing us. While getting his hair cut the receptionist was telling her that her 11 isn't here yet but 2 other girls are here early. Discussing who's next when she wasn't even done with my son! We went again because it was open Sunday but what a waste. I'm going to my hairdresser tomorrow to try to fix this mess. read more

We took our son to Rita's for his first haircut when he was 20 months old and we had Jan. She was lovely - very patient and calm. She gave him a great haircut with lots of TLC. Our second appt was AWFUL. We had Rita who surprisingly seemed to have no experience cutting children's hair! She didn't ask his name and after I told her, she kept calling him by the wrong name anyway! She was incredibly rushed and took no time trying to make it a good experience. My sweet mannered, calm boy was terrified of her and cried the whole time (he was all smiles 6 weeks earlier!). Plus the haircut is BAD. He looks like a marine. My husband and I took our 7 mnth old baby here for her first cut a few wks ago. The cut was actually done fast which was great for baby. The vibe, however, was sooo lame! The entire staff was boring and seemed to be in a bad mood or just bored! We did get a certificate with childs name, first few snips of hair and date and the cut looks fine. We were just left disappointed with the lack of personalities from every single person, including the owner. I will say however, that they have a tv at every station and cool seats for kids! The MAIN reason why I am disappointed with this place is because I just noticed that the hair (Which was placed in a tiny sealed plastic bag then stapled onto the certificate itself,) has MOLD on it!!! I am glad that I noticed today, two weeks later, otherwise I would have had to throw my baby's first locks of hair away! I had no idea they placed the hair wet into the bag and it smelled like mild and looked MOLDY!!! Very disappointed and quite disgusting! read more
