I stopped by Green's for lunch today, and I'd say it got the job done, but it's not somewhere I'd…read morego out of my way to visit again. The presentation of the meal was nice. I ordered the daily special: pork tips with mac and cheese, black-eyed peas, sweet tea, and chips on the side. The pork tips over rice were tender and flavorful, but there was a little too much gravy. An extra half scoop of rice would have balanced the dish much better. With just a little more seasoning or spice, the pork tips would have been top-tier. The mac and cheese wasn't my favorite. It appeared to have eggs in it, and the black pepper flavor was a bit stronger than I prefer. I think a touch of cayenne would have given it a better kick. The black-eyed peas were good, although I personally think white beans would have paired better with the meal. The sweet tea was excellent, and the service was one of the highlights. The person at the counter was friendly, respectful, and welcoming, and my food came out quickly. The atmosphere was exactly what you'd expect from a local mom-and-pop lunch spot; simple, relaxed, and perfect for a quick bite. Overall, Green's is a solid place to grab lunch if you're already in the area. I'll stop by again when I'm in town, but it's probably not a place I'd take a special exit off the highway just to visit.

After delivering me my takeout order they did not inform me that I had to go and pickup my plastic utensils. One of my orders was a half fish, half shrimp plate. Fish, shrimp and French fries was pretty good but they put cheese on the salad and closed the lid. When I open the lid the cheese was melted all over the salad resulting in a big glob of a mess. My second order was a shrimp po-boy and French fries. I found a soggy torpedo bun and no French fries. I must say the shrimp alone was pretty good. I would like to think eating at this place would be better than their take out.

We walked in and checked out the menu before ordering at the front. I got a shrimp po boy with sweet potato fries and a side salad. My fiance got the turkey club with onion rings. We thought the sides came with it, but realized after we were charged for an onion loaf appetizer which explains why we got the whole bloomin' onion! lol! Since we were on a long drive we unfortunately couldn't take leftovers. The portions were HUGE! My sandwich was good, but I only had half off the bread since it was just too much for the sandwich. The sweet potato fries were amazing and also huge. I just had water, but my fiance got the frozen root beer and we both loved it. Tasted like an Italian ice! The girl working asked if he was sure he wanted a small since it was super tiny. He went with medium and it was huge. Everything was huge. Great local spot surrounded by all chain restaurants.

I got a cup of gumbo and potato salad. My wife and I shared the fried shrimp platter. The fried shrimp were some of the best I've had anywhere and the garlic bread was amazing. The gumbo needed a little salt and a splash of tabasco. It's clearly made to satisfy elderly people's spice / sodium needs but once I added that it was just right. I would go back and get a bowl of it. That potato salad is perfect as well. I'm getting hungry thinking about this place.

Make sure you have a drink handy before you start on them. (They're included with every meal.). Although they are standard pork skins, they're also kind of dry - a nice remoulade dip with them would be good. Came in for appetizers and left quite satisfied. An order of cheese curds and a boudin sushi was just enough for my wife and I. The cheese curds are pretty standard fried mozzarella. The boudin sushi is very good boudin (probably made in the meat market next door), and the hoisin and yum sauce on it adds a nice little lagniappe. If I come back this way, I'll stop in and maybe try a full meal. Or maybe just another boudin sushi. It's good enough for a meal.
