My favorite is the grilled chicken poboy add cheese. It's the only place I can get grilled chicken and they don't disappoint. I also love the fried shrimp but wish I could get it grilled. I don't really care for any type of batter on my food but when I want a shrimp poboy this is my go to. Those old fashioned fried potatoes chips are very nostalgic. Having heard raves of adulation, and being both hungry and nearby, we stopped in yesterday afternoon for shrimp po-boys. What we got were typical of recent regional po-boys. The bread was fresh & excellent. Veggie "dressing" was routine. The shrimp appeared to be around 36-count, in adequate if not generous, number, fried in wheat flour "batter" (?). As an elder Cajun, I long for the days of frying seafood in "Louisiana Fish Fry" or the homemade version of same. This is a concoction of corn flour, corn meal, granulated garlic, salt, black & red pepper, etc.; and fried in very hot peanut or canola oil. Historically, the shrimp used were quite a bit larger. Those gave a taste not possible with "WalMart Shrimp" fried in wheat flour mix. The homemade fried potato "chips" were soggy, not crisp. Prices were quite high for a small-town po-boy. Bottom line: Typical sandwich for area, over-priced, over-rated. Although disappointed, we may go back for a "second chance", in the hopes that "Villagers" was just having a "bad day". Great bread is needed for a great PoBoys. Potatoes are cottage fries and a small will easily serve 2-4. You'll be back. We have a lot of company and they always want to go back here. Heard many people talk about it but it's definitely nothing to drive out here for. Had the shrimp poboy and philly. Not enough shrimp on there and little off tasting and not seasoned enough. The bread is ok. Don't like crunchy bread but it still is soft as well which is nice. The philly needs lots more as well inside but not bad and could use some whiz. Other than that just nothing about this place justifies driving 25 minutes. Nothing is really made from scratch here. Oh well I tried and now I know. read more

A customer of ours came into my office recently and said she had just had a shrimp poboy and that it was better than Olde Tyme Grocery's version. I could not help it, as OTG is my favorite place for an amazing shrimp poboy I blurted out "shut your face, woman" but she insisted Villager's was better so I decided this had to be tested first hand. I had a chance to go try them for lunch today and ordered a fully dressed (lettuce, pickles, tomato, mayo and ketchup) shrimp poboy and an order of sweet potato fries. The shrimp were plentiful and seasoned just right and it was a very good poboy. My fries were a little soggy but they served it with a container of cinnamon sugar so that was a nice little touch. Do I like Villager's as much as I like Olde Tyme? No, but I like it almost as much and I will be back, as it is pretty close to my office. Next time I go I'll try the roast beef-a neighboring table ordered this and I had a serious case of food envy. read more

Great new location for an old establishment. My expectations were high going in. Their French fries when eaten in house are some of the best around. My fries came out perfect. This place is the spot for a shrimp poboy and home cut fries. Huge shrimp falling off of a crispy bun, fresh potatoes sliced and deep fried to perfection. I don't know what the secret is to those amazing potatoes but they are nothing like you've ever tried before. They are probably 30 minutes from my house but we'll worth the trek. read more

Their fries are 5 Star! I loved them!!! It was two of us and we shared the half order. It was more than enough. I almost didn't finish my half sandwich and dessert because I was full. I had the shrimp poor boy (half order) and it was really good. I had beignets for the first time here. They were good. Nothing to compare them with though. I've heard of Villagers for years and was afraid it was over-hyped...it was not - perfect poboy!

We ordered from here and did pick up. We live close by and had seen it in passing and finally got to try it. So, to get right to it, I gave it three stars for a couple of reasons. My husband had the meatball sandwich and said it was "ok" and not really any better than Subway's meatball sub. Also, he only finished half of the sandwich and put the rest in the fridge for the next day. I ended up throwing it out because he never went back for it, which tells me the frozen meatball (not homemade) sandwich was forgettable, which never happens with him! I ordered the shrimp poboy which was pretty good. The fry on the shrimp was good, they put PLENTY of shrimp on it and the bread was good. But, I felt like the shrimp could have been better seasoned. We will give it another try seeing it is a neighborhood cafe. Hopefully we will find the sweet spot here in the future. read more

This is a wonderful restaurant. I stopped here on a drive to New Orleans, and it was well worth the detour off the highway. First, the service was INCREDIBLE. Kay was our waitress and I don't know if I've ever met anyone nicer or kindhearted. She was so helpful and attentive. It felt like she cared about us as people and not just guests at the restaurant. You should go just to meet her. But the food is also UNBELIEVABLE. I split a shrimp Po boy and a philly cheese steak po boy. The bread was so good. It was almost tender. I've never had break like it.
