I have been multiple times and loved everything about the food. Today unfortunately i got a completely raw burger on 3/20/25. I picked away some pieces at first but then i realized it was majority raw. So disappointed, I called and didn't get offered a refund or to remake it. Just threw the whole thing away.

My husband and I are frequently going here. The staff is great and follow Covid precautions always. We ordered food today and I can't tell you enough how great it was. We ordered the large cheeseburger with everything and a philly cheese steak poboy. OMG it's one of the best we've had of each. The poboy was a little greasy but the taste made up for it. We ordered prior to going and was ready when my husband arrived. I encourage y'all to try the food. Oh, I heard their breakfast is also great and a great price. Sorry it was eaten on, lol. Couldn't help it.

I watched this place being built on my daily commute and thought the name of it was silly and recently decided to stop in because why not? Haha. I was curious about it...what kind of name is Riche and why doesn't he/she know the proper spelling of why...and I'm glad I did. Turns out this isn't just a little gas station, it's a full size convenience store and full service deli. Speaking of gas-there are plenty of pumps-at least 10 so waiting at the pump should not be an issue. It was clean and the drink refills are plentiful and not flat (very important!) and the cashiers were friendly. I found out that Riche is actually the name of the owner, Logan and Y Not Stop is a locally owned (albeit small) chain. At some of the locations you can even renew your hunting license! That's Cajun Country for ya! I'll be stopping by more often because I love supporting local businesses and to try out the food so I'll be adding more photos soon.

We had chicken and sausage gumbo, Pepper Jack boudin balls, bam bam gator bites and the blackened chicken pasta. The waiter this time was better than the waitress we had last time. He was very attentive and made sure we never had to ask for refills. The appetizers came out fairly normal time-wise I would say. The main portion took a little bit longer than what you're used to at a franchise restaurant but here that's perfectly fine as it's worth the couple extra minutes. The gumbo is perfect(I love when gumbo is not over complicated) I like to add a lil hot sauce to it and it's delicious... only thing is, while they already give generous portions... the cup and the bowl looked exactly the same except I think in the bowl they give you one extra scoop of rice... which would be just fine if it wasn't like $6 more. But still delicious nonetheless. The bam bam gator bites were really good and I highly recommend them. If you like bam bam shrimp you'll love these. The pepper jack boudin balls were good, nothing special but they were definitely worth the try. My co-worker had the blackened chicken pasta and when I asked him how it was he said "dude, it's really good!" lol. The building is pretty unique and they have some outside seating with a massive beautiful tree that over looks the restaurant and takes claim to some of the asphalt in the parking lot lol. But it's a great spot for birthdays, good lunch menu deals, casual date night or if you wanna blow some steam off, they have a little bar in the restaurant as well. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend. I'm from East Texas, so I'm no Cajun/Louisianan but they truly got some good grub here. I'll definitely be coming back several more times when I get the chances. I will warn you, I believe the food is freshly made so when it gets to the table, give it some time to cool off because it comes out HOT.

Responding to Chelsa K.'s 1* review. As I am someone who was in the restaurant when it happened…read more I just think it's funny how you aren't mentioning y'all came in as 6 people and then wanted accommodations for 30 people during one of the busiest times of the night. Or that they argued with the amazing manager for nearly an hour total after being told they couldn't accommodate that size party. They're also leaving out the part where people from their group marched in and seated themselves, stood over occupied tables waiting for guests to leave, insisting the hosts clean the tables, and made the entire restaurant uncomfortable. This had nothing to do with race and everything to do with behavior. Any group acting like that would've gotten the exact same response. In short, do better. Y'all came in and ruined everyone's dinner because y'all don't know how to plan ahead. Stop blaming people for your mistakes and take accountability.

This may have been part of the reason its wasn't all that busy on a Tuesday lunch. Similar to some other restaurants in Louisiana I've visited, they have a side with a bar, to-go area and high tops, and a more family oriented side of the restaurant with a bunch of low top tables. Fried pork rinds are served with every table. They have daily plate lunches and the one day I came it was chicken fried steak. However, it's not usually a good idea to order CFS outside of Texas in my experience. Therefore, I ended up ordering the catfish and shrimp platter, served grilled instead and added a $5 strawberry margarita. The entree comes with a side salad but they only have seelct dressings and none which I would typically order, so i just settled on honey mustard. Margarita- for only $5 it's not bad and comes with either sugar or salt rim Catfish and shrimp platter - seasoned with a blackened seasoning but it wasn't spicy. The catfish filet was small and tasted like it was previously frozen. The shrimp were also small and didn't taste much better. Not sure I'd return if ever in Lafayette, as I was really looking for a more festive environment and more grilled options.

First of all, there are a whole bunch of free parking and it was easy to find this restaurant. The atmosphere was low keyed and subtle, not loud and rambunctious. We were seated immediately, even if we were early for our reservation and our very friendly and helpful server, Jaslyn, was awesome! She suggested to start off with a delicious strawberry margarita and it was a home run! Perfectly blended garnished with both a lemon and a lime slice. We ordered the Prejean's seafood platter, which hit all the marks. Catfish filet, oysters, crawfish, alligator, shrimp, hush puppies and fries. Everything was lightly battered and not the least oily. We also had to try the chicken, andouille sausage gumbo and the crab cake vermilion which were so delicious! But, the highlight was our extraordinary server, Jaslyn! The was the epitome of southern hospitality with her sweet, unassuming personality! The next time I'm in Louisiana, I'll be back at Prejean"s!

This review is LONG overdue:…read more As first-time guests at Poor Boy's Riverside Inn in Broussard, Louisiana, we were completely captivated by this historic, family-owned gem that's been serving authentic Cajun cuisine for nearly a century. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance of rustic charm and subtle elegance, reminiscent of South Louisiana's river camps. With its warm lighting and lively buzz of happy diners, it's an inviting spot for everything from a casual meal to a special celebration. Our culinary experience was outstanding from start to finish. We began with appetizers of Cajun crab fingers, crispy and bursting with fresh Gulf flavor, and alligator tidbits, perfectly seasoned and wonderfully unique. The entrées were phenomenal: the Redfish Extravaganza, a masterpiece of fresh redfish stuffed with crabmeat and topped with a rich blend of more crab, crawfish, and mushrooms, delivered bold Cajun flavors in every bite. The Crabmeat Imperial was decadently creamy, while the filet with Riverside topping--a tender, perfectly cooked steak crowned with jumbo lump crab and mushrooms--was pure indulgence. Our drinks elevated the experience further: a Richard's tequila martini, crisp and refreshing; a Blue Raspberry martini, vibrant and fun; and a Buffalo Trace Old Fashioned smoked with an Italian cherry, adding a sophisticated, smoky depth. Dessert was a highlight, with warm, soul-soothing homemade bread pudding and sweet potato beignets, a creative, sugary delight that left us smiling. Every dish and drink showcased the Hurst family's dedication to fresh, high-quality ingredients and authentic Cajun recipes. What made our first visit truly unforgettable was our server, Meagan, who was an absolute superstar. She greeted us with a warm, genuine smile that instantly made us feel welcome. Meagan's knowledge of the menu was impeccable, and her recommendations guided us to perfect choices with enthusiasm and confidence. Even more impressive was her deep understanding of the Hurst family's history and the restaurant's legacy--she shared captivating stories about Poor Boy's nearly 100-year journey, adding a special layer of connection to our meal. Her attentiveness was flawless, ensuring our drinks were refilled and our needs met with a friendliness that made us feel like longtime regulars. Meagan's passion and care transformed our dining experience into something truly extraordinary. Poor Boy's Riverside Inn is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Cajun cuisine in a warm, historic setting. The Hurst family's legacy shines through in every bite and sip, and with servers like Meagan delivering exceptional service and storytelling, it's easy to see why this place is a Louisiana treasure. As first-time guests, we're already eager to return. Five stars for an incredible meal, perfectly crafted drinks, and an unforgettable experience, thanks to Meagan's outstanding hospitality!

This is a top-notch local seafood restaurant, and long time favorite. When I say "long-term", I'm almost 82 & have been a customer for over 65 years, since coming with my parents in the 1950's. I know of no other restaurant anywhere with that record of excellence & consistent performance. The specialty is Louisiana Atlantic blue crab, and in that genre, Riverside has no real peers. Yes, they offer a wider array including local crawfish, shrimp, & oysters; plus cold water lobsters & steaks. But our crab is delicate & must be handled with expertise. Riverside does that better than I could at home on the Teche. Secluded off street lot parking, swamp-ish theme landscaped grounds, locals bar, professional waitstaff. If unfamiliar w/ area, use your phone for directions. One can't go wrong here. 5+ Stars from me, every time. Don't stop until you get here ! Caveat, may be closed Sundays & Mondays, call first. Rick

The casing was a little tough to bite through so I sliced it and scooped out the insides. Although the Billy's boudin is good, I don't know if it was good enough to drive from Texas for it. There's no host stand or clear seating system, so the entrance felt chaotic. We weren't sure what to do until a nice local told us to just grab a table. After sitting down, it took about 5 mins for a waitress to stop by with the menus. The menu includes both breakfast and lunch items, but the ordering process is confusing. We were told breakfast orders would be taken at the table and lunch needs to be ordered separately at the cafeteria style counter. My husband went to the counter to order lunch while I stayed behind, waiting for the server to return with drinks and take our breakfast order, she never did. The smothered pork dish looked worse than school cafeteria, and unfortunately tasted like it too. It was overly salty and the pork had a weird taste to it. Since we had already paid for the lunch item upfront and still hadn't been able to place breakfast order, we decided to cut our losses and went to another restaurant. Overall, wasted 35 mins and left frustrated and disappointed, definitely won't come back!

The main issue here is the overall service experience and the food quality. The interior is old school but immediately chaos; there is a Luby's style ready serve food line and tables as well for dine in. We didn't know but apparently you just find a table and sit down, we were standing around waiting to be seated for a bit. Apparently you order lunch plates at this hot food line and then order breakfast via your server at the table. This makes no sense. We waited 35 minutes for staff to take our breakfast order and beverages unsuccessfully, so I went up and ordered a lunch plate of smothered pork and just paid up front. The guy working the ready made food line was also pretty rude and didn't want to be there; great! It was definitely below Treebeard's level and was very salty and not very flavorful. The sauce that they poured on the rice was extremely salty as well. Meh food quality and the absolute chaos of the brunch dining experience made the brunch meal very unenjoyable for our group. We left afterwards and went to another restaurant to eat.
