My wife saw this place on Facebook page she follows and once she saw the food they were serving,…read moreshe had to make time for an off day to drive two hours from our house to try it!!! It's located in Crowley, La. and it's not far off of the freeway after taking the Crowley exit. We found out it is a Combination restaurant and Specialty meat store! You can enter from the side into the restaurant, but we entered from the side facing the street we came in on and had to walk through the store to get to the restaurant. We were promptly greeted and escorted to our seats, we opted for a booth. Our waitress came right behind her and was really very outgoing and friendly!! I wish they were all as happy and outgoing as she was!! She told us about their specials and drinks, but we just ordered sweet tea, Coke and water. We asked for a few minutes to look over the menu. The big thing my wife wanted to try was the Boudain Sushi Roll!!! I didn't even know there was such a thing. It's on the appetizer menu. Along with Crawfish Hushpuppies, Crawfish Queso, Boudain Queso, and other great looking appetizers! So we ordered four appetizers! The Boudain Sushi Roll, the Crawfish Queso, the Crawfish Hushpuppies, and their Fried Green Tomatoes!!! While she went to turn in our appetizer orders we had a chance to kind of look around the inside and it's really very nice! It's big and roomy, they have TV's with sports, they have a full bar, they also have a hand wash station against the wall with two alligator heads that supply the water for you hand wash over two sinks that is really cool! Just a really nice Ambience inside here! While we were still talking our bubbly little waitress started bringing out our appetizers! She asked if everything looked ok and it did! It all looked delicious!!! Then she said she'd give us a bit and come back. I have to say the Boudain Sushi Roll really looked delicious and it was!!! But the Boudain Queso came out with tortilla chips and it was just as good as it looked too! I tried one of the wife's Fried Green Tomatoes and they were really great as well with the dipping sauce that came with them! The wife said her Boudain Hushpuppies were really good too! Our boy got his Standard Cheeseburger with catsup and Fries so he was happy! When out waitress came back I ordered the fried Seafood Platter that said 4 Catfish pieces, 4 fried shrimp, one Stuffed shrimp, one Crab cake and one side, and I ordered the Red beans and rice as my side. My wife ordered the Crawfish Ettouffee. So we figured I'd the appetizers were that delicious them the main meal should be fantastic too! When my Seafood platter came out, I was mildly surprised at what I saw! I saw 4 pieces of cat fish about the size of you thumb and just a little longer, the Four Fried shrimp were about the size of my little finger!!!! The stuffed shrimp wasn't too bad as neither was the Crab cake. My red beans and rice were very good, but kind of on the dry side. My wife said her ettouffee was pretty good. But for the price of my platter, I was a little disappointed. Usually every seafood restaurant I go to has Jumbo Shrimp that are butterflied and pretty good size like an 8 to 10 count on shrimp. And most of the ones I go to have Catfish fillets, not pieces!!! I do have a favorite restaurant that serves Catfish pieces as an appetizer and they come out with 8 or 9 pieces on an appetizer dish!! But other than that it was a good experience. I just know Louisiana is add well know for it's seafood as the Texas coast is. The Guild is full of large shrimp, and the bayou's and rivers are chock full of big Catfish!!! My point is I don't mind paying a higher price to get good food. But those fried shrimp should have been in a salad or a shrimp cocktail somewhere!! All in all it was a good experience and well go back, but I think I'll just make my meal all appetizers!!!
