We happened to have our travels land us in Iowa! Not Iowa the state, but rather Iowa, the town in…read moreLouisiana. Needing something for dinner, we took to Yelp... After much per reasoning of the choices of the area we chose, Roy's Meat Market! From the moment we stepped into this beautiful establishment, we knew that all the previous reviews were true, a proven hidden gem. My first question was what is Bohdin? With that our waitress promptly pulled an entire 16 inch link out of the pan and cut it into three pieces and told us to try it and see if we liked it. It was delicious, I asked her what I owed, she said nothing. Everyone needs to try it! At that, my wife and I ordered, I ordered the shrimp. Po-Boy sandwich filled with the condiments that I selected. My wife ordered the smoked turkey salad, it was huge! We then ordered a couple of beers, and proceeded to our table to wait for our food. We were greeted by some wonderful people sitting in the dining room, who were so kind and so welcoming it felt like we were at someone's home sitting around the kitchen table with old friends. Come to find out it was the owner, and one of his longtime, trusted customers and friends. As we were getting ready to leave, we were able to have a wonderful conversation with the owner ourselves, we've made a decision. The folks down here are absolutely kind as can be and so welcoming. In regard to the food, try it all give it a chance and you won't be disappointed!

I was a little unsure about stopping here, given so few reviews. Places like this are either…read moreamazing or trash. This place is definitely amazing. The folks were very friendly. I was worried they'd wonder what some out of town folk were doing in what could have been a local haunt, but that fear was false. The shrimp po boy was perfect. The jalapeño Mayo brought just enough heat to open you up, but not so much that you hated your life. I'd definitely recommend this place.

Not too much. Not too little. Just the right amount of burger. Very flavorful and very tasty. The onion rings were pretty delicious as well! I'll definitely be back to this place. Food - 5 Service - 4.5 Atmosphere - 4 tables were dirty and not wiped down Giving an overall 4 but it's really a 4.5.

I don't think it's from the lack of effort it's just the supply chain has changed and the quailty of the original ingredients have changed and that just the cold hard truth. This is a good burger, not a great burger in my opinion the protocol here is order what you want and accept what they sit on the counter when they call your name - today's old fashion cheese burger was pretty good and very fresh but one burger can't meet everyone's expectations, for me there is too much mustard I want some but today it was over powering, I'd sub grilled onions for raw and luckily I definitely remembered to ask for pickles otherwise you don't get any. If you want a burger where the meat is the main ingredient order a double even then it's not overwhelming. Good Onion Rings (yes) and plenty of them a large order can feed at least three hungry people. They are served hot right from the grease so add salt and pat them dry unless you like the added grease they are probably the best you'll find eating out. Now what the same as it was from years gone by, very very reasonable prices, an extremely friendly staff I love they will carry on a conversation with the customers, if you frequent this place they will remember you and maybe ask how your mom and dad are doing that's not just great customer service that's amazing hometown service and that a very rare amenity today - yeah it's changed a little or maybe it's just that I have, so if they keep serving them burgers when I'm in the area I'll keep buying them...

Babineaux's Cafe definitely met the criteria, it's definitely a part of the local history and culture. The exterior looks a little worn and the parking well it's random to say the least I think the locals here park wherever they feel comfortable and that's okay there's plenty of options. We were greeted by the friendly staff as soon as we walked in and found a seat without a wait although the place had already began to fill for lunch service. There's a lot of standard fare on the printed menus but my eyes went directly to the daily specials handwritten on the chalkboard which changes daily. The staff here is so efficient and quick to describe the specials and grab your drink order and of course they have freshly brewed sweet tea. After looking over the board I could not resist the home cooking option, a perfectly fried pork-chop, green beans, corn and of course a healthy portion of rice and gravy, it was outstanding so much like my momma made, we also ordered a club sandwich on toast, no frills just down home deliciousness. This is definitely a gem in the community and a must try if you want a taste of the local culture and to experience the unmatched hospitality from the people in southwest Louisiana, this is what I miss and always look forward to when returning to the state I was born and raised in...

It's not huge inside but we had no trouble getting a comfortable seat at lunchtime. There's a menu and there's a board of lunch specials. The friendly and attentive service couldn't be beat. If you see the grilled pork ribeye on the specials board you need to get it. The tastiest and most moist pork you may ever eat. The home cooked style vegetables will just make your meal a home run. We are already hoping that the timing on our next trip west coincides with lunchtime here and hopefully the grilled pork ribeye will be on the specials board.
