I live in Boston but my Volvo guru here in Newbury recommended Coastal Collision to have some…read morecosmetic work done including installation of front OEM winglets (already paint matched) as part of the S60R's sport kit, repair of a lower trim piece that was a casualty of opening and scraping on a curb and fixing some clips on the front and rear bumper covers. I spoke with Tony on a Friday and he was able to fit me in on a Wednesday of the following week (Memorial Day weekend) and the car was completed early Thursday morning. Tony was extremely knowledgable going over each component and the steps they would take to install/repair while keeping my bottom line in mind. Tony even dissuaded me from respraying the front bumper cover (didn't need it anyway since the winglets would cover the small rock chips and the labor cost to dismantle and reinstall would be high) as well as not going the route of replacing/painting a totally new trim piece. I am ridiculously meticulous with my car and Coastal truly exceeded all my expectations especially on their workmanship, professionalism, communication and overall cost. I expected the job to be a lot more $$ for what they accomplished - the price was lower than the estimate. Tony is a straight shooter and his honesty and transparency is refreshing. I did not have any paint work or blending done but in my mind, I would not hesitate at all to return to Coastal for any of my vehicle's bodywork/painting or custom installation needs. We…read moredon't trust anyone else...especially with those hard to diagnose issues/problems that occur from time to time with any vehicle. Eric is essentially a one man shop...he checks you in, does all the work himself, and checks you out. You know the old saying...you get what you pay for and you will always get quality work at Johnson Automotive. He will explain what is wrong and walk you through everything. I moved away for a few years and it took me a while to find a mechanic even half as good. I absolutely hate going to the dealer and having a "service specialist" check me in who has no clue about cars other than upselling unneeded fluid flushes and 30/60/90/120k mile "tune ups" and never getting to speak with the actual mechanic. Do not let dealers scare you...Eric Johnson (and other independent shops for that matter) can fix and repair ANY MAKE AND MODEL car...and with a lot less hassle and money than the dealer. I took a basic welding class to make a barn star at the Garrison Speed Shop in Mendon,…read moreMassachusetts. I have never welded before or used some of the tools and equipment required. The template pieces were all laid out, but that was it. Co-founder Luke had me read and sign all the releases first, and asked about my experience with welding etc. Being a Veteran myself, Luke as well, and the non-profit supporting Veterans and First Responders, he also made sure to ask me if loud noises or anything would bother me. Every step was explained and demonstrated before I was able to do it, and as nervous as I was at first, it quickly went away knowing he took my safety, the safety of others as well as their shop very seriously. Co-founder Ben also provided some muscle when I was unable to bend the metal myself. In just over 2 hours I had sanded, measured, re-measured, bent , hammered and welded together a really cool one of a kind 5-sided barn star. It was definitely something different to do and it was a really cool and fun experience. 5 stars !
