On the other hand, nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to local indie dealers like Horseless Carriage. These gentlemen are the epitome of chill. Naturally, it helps if you walk in knowing precisely what you want like we did. I was in the market for buying my son a Honda. After weeks of research, we tracked down a nice Accord that practically had his name written all over it. The price seemed fair enough and included all dealer fees, minus registration (which is handled at your local city hall anyway). One thing that immediately stood out to me was their level of trust. They let us take the car for a test drive unsupervised. That's like...unheard of in the mainstream dealership biz. Honestly though, they needn't worry. We were dead set on making a deal with them, so long as the car passed its pre-purchase inspection. Spoilers: it did. We took the car for a test drive and headed straight to VIP Tires just 3 minutes down the road. Other than routine maintenance issues that need to be dealt with, the only real deficiencies were a small hole beneath the flooring due to a ton of rust on the under carriage and a small crack on the windshield; neither of which were deal breakers for us, btw. In the end, the mechanic offered us complimentary windshield repair, a protectant sealant for the under carriage, plus a free oil change at the shop next door. I have to admit, I wasn't expecting that! Now, because they're an independent dealership with what appears to be just two guys working there (mind you, it was Saturday), I'm not sure if in-house financing is even offered here. Not that it mattered to me since, again...I came prepared. I had planned to pay via pre-approved loan from a credit union. The transaction was easy as apple pie. I have a feeling had I done this at a mainstream dealership, I'd have gotten mega pushback to finance through them instead. I must confess, I walked into this place not knowing what to expect. The car buying experiences I've had over the years with past dealers have left me with an inordinate amount of anxiety. So, I always walk in guarded to the gills. But these guys were no pressure, no BS folks just here to make an honest day's living. Ya know how difficult that is to find these days? Now, you're probably wondering if there are any negatives about this place. Well....there is one: the parking. It's horrendous! The lot is full of cars they're trying to sell with no designated spots for customers to park. All things considered though, that's a wicked small price to pay for having the pleasure of doing business with such a well refined business. It's locals taking care of locals and I love it! I can't say enough good things about this place and its integrity, which knows no bounds. So, I'll cap it all off by giving Horseless Carriage 5 very grateful teenaged sons riding off into the sunset in a new-ish Honda out of 5.

I pointed it out to the dealer (where i do my oil changes) at 40k, 50k and 80k as i noticed the issue getting worse. I was told 'it was a typical issue', 'was nothing to worry about' and even reading online about it being a common issue that eventually needs attention. Note: used Toyotas get a 6yr/100k powertrain warranty Low and behold at $122k oil change my dealer points out there is a transmission issue, repair cost is $1100. I was blown away with how brazen they were. Russell has been there as long as i can recall. I popped in one day to ask the cost of the needed repair and Tory asked a series of investigative questions to determine true need. He suggested he may know another route at a cost of around $250-$300 we should try first and voila! Issue solved. The car shifts better than it did at 23k, and feels like it would if the transmission was replaced! Ive waited a few months and 20k? miles to post this as i wanted to make sure this wasnt a 'band aid fix' and it doesnt seem to be. Today i scheduled and did my other car with them. Lastly, they did a superb job on the courtesy car wash. It was cleaner than any professional car wash I've ever had. Let me start off by saying that I normally take care of both repairs and maintenance on my cars. I…read morelike saving money doing that, plus I just don't trust garages to do the work right and charge a fair price for it. I had never been here before, and hadn't heard of anyone recommending this place, but other Yelp reviews were positive so I decided to give it them a chance. I'm always looking for a good garage to bring my cars to if need be. I had bought some new tires at Town Fair several months prior. After the tire install and alignment there the car was pulling badly. Town Fair attempted to re-align it 2 more times, and each time declared it to be good. It wasn't. So before I completely wore out the new set of tires I brought it here for an alignment. They did find the alignment was off (go figure!), plus they found that a suspension bolt was missing - something that had to have happened when Town Fair aligned it the last time. After replacing the bolt and adjusting the alignment they declared it good. It wasn't. It was much better, mind you, but still pulling. I brought it back down and they took the car back without complaint. After several hours they called to say my car was ready, but they wanted to show me a few things. When I got there they said that they were able to replicate my problem, and they did a number of things to try to correct it - check alignment again, rotate the tires, check centering setting on the on-board computer, inspect steering linkages and other suspension pieces, etc. All total I wouldn't be surprised if they spent a few hours on the car. In the end they said it was likely a sticking U-joint in the steering linkage and they recommended putting penetrating oil on it to see if it freed up on it's own. Now most garages would have charged me for the re-alignment since it technically didn't need to be re-aligned. They would also have charged for the diagnostic labor to narrow down the problem, and they would have also insisted on replacing the U-joint. Dynatune did none of this - the bill was exactly $0! They had every opportunity to charge me for things and in the end they recommended a first-level fix of a few squirts of oil that was free. It's honesty and fair treatment like this that I am looking for with a garage. They have definitely won me as a repeat customer. Due to my DIY skills I may not be the most frequent customer, but I'm sure to bring them the work when I need it the most.
