I decided to try Silva's Auto because the Auto shop I've been using for the last several years seemed to be getting more and more expensive. I contacted Silva's by putting in a request on their website, and they called me back the very next morning to arrange a time for my repairs. I needed a wheel bearing replaced and also had new rotors and brakes installed. The price was very fair and they completed it exactly when they said. I'm sure I would have spent at least $800-$1000 more if I went to a dealer. I also like to support local businesses and since I live in Merrimack I'll likely be going to Silva's from now on. The place isn't easy to find...it's tucked away off DW Highway. It's kind of across from the Lobster boat restaurant (you'll see a small sign for Silva's). It's well worth it. They are fair, honest and don't up-sell you on stuff you don't need. They also have a convenient key drop so you can drop off your vehicle when it's convenient for you. read more

On an unfortunate Saturday evening where my F150 truck abruptly stalled on the way to Best Buy in Salem (while returning a large flat-screen TV), I instinctively searched Google for a local tow. When the tow company arrived, they asked if I had a preferred mechanic. I told them I wasn't incredibly familiar with the area and that I was open to suggestions. My luck turned around that night when I was suggested Don Silva's Auto. Usually I vet as many businesses as I can through Yelp in advance, but in this dire time I did not think to. Despite travelling for work the ensuing Monday where I was not reachable till 2pm EST, I was able to get in contact with Don as soon as I landed that day. I provided a few symptoms I observed, naturally pointing to a faulty alternator. My truck was fixed up by the time I arrived home just a few days later. I was also able to provide payment via telephone so I could pick up the car on Saturday (more convenient for me- they're closed on Saturdays). The price I paid was well within reason and have no doubts in the quality of work performed (and parts used). I've been coming here since it was Tire Town. It's a no frills honest shop. At times I've been stunned at how low the prices are and how good the service is. I had a dealership claim my car needed $6k of work when I went kn for a recall. I came here and they assured me the car needed nowhere near that much work. I put $1500 in, my car drives like new and I could get another 100k miles on it. Trustworthy and reasonable - heck, downright cheap in ways. Would give six stars if I could. read more

They are honest, and they don't pressure you, and they DON'T to talk to you like you don't know anything. They're my new mechanic. I had an issue with my car, wasn't sure what it was. Was heading north for the long weekend and got an alert from my car about low tire pressure. Tried to fill it with air but it kept rapidly deflating - long story short I took my car here and they unfortunately didn't have the tires on hand to fit my car (I drive a mini clubman that requires unusual tires), but instead of leaving it at that they called around to several places in the area until they found someone who could help me - all free of charge. I want to Silva's for my first time today. I moved to Merrimack about a year ago and this was my first time needing a major car repair since. I had some suspicions as to what was wrong with my car, and I'd done some research online and talked to car-knowledgeable friends beforehand. I found everyone at Silva's to be incredibly friendly and helpful. They were very accommodating and returned my card to me in surprisingly quick order. They also broke down what needed to be done versus what probably should be done soon, gave me estimates for both options, and let me know the timelines for those future repairs. Everything they said and the prices they quoted lined up with the research I had done. I walked out of there feeling confident with our solution and that I had gotten a very good deal for the work I had done. For the record, I needed a shock mount replaced, but per their advice (backed up by my research), it was best to replace both mounts and the shocks as well. I considered my options and decided to save on the future man hour costs and did the whole shebang for about $200 less than I was expecting. read more

Honesty. Something hard to find these days. We recently had our minivan in at a dealer for a recall. They claimed that our brake pads were worn and needed our rotors turned. We declined and brought the van to Chris at Tire Town. They looked at the brakes and found that the pads had at least another 10,000-15,000 miles on them and the rotors were fine. How many mechanics out there would do this? These guys are great. I would highly recommend them! read more

I've been going to Tire Town for 14 years. Chris at Tire Town is the most honest mechanic. I brought my car to him thinking my catalytic converter was gone. Come to find out it was some faulty spark plug wires that were installed and still under warranty. They changed the wires and there was no charge! That's honesty! My car ran perfectly after that. On another occasion I inquired about having a tune-up done while my car was in for another service, thinking I could possibly get better gas mileage. Chris asked a few questions and determined that my car really didn't need a tune-up and I would just be wasting money. I'm a customer for life! read more

While they agreed that parts need to be replaced, they charged $500 for parts & labor as opposed to the quote I got from the 1st shop for $900. Big difference! I called today 10/4/2016 and asked about pricing for tires. He was nice on the phone and said he'd call me back in 5 minutes. I called him back 10 minutes later, he answered and I asked if he found anything and he said "I was bullshitting with a friend, can I call you back in 5 minutes." I am a big fan of Chris and Tire Town. I have been bringing my cars there for over 20 years as well as my family. We never had a problem and always trusted Chris and his staff. I have recommended his business countless times. Recently he retired and it is now Silva's Auto. I went down for inspection with no issue except my front light bulb was out. Well, they charged 25 dollars for a bulb. This part costs 7,99 retail. Volvo replaced my other bulb 2 months ago and it cost me a 3.70. That is right 3.70. When I questioned Silva's Auto they said "oh you think that is expensive?" Well, only and idiot would think that is not expensive. Then he blamed the previous owner Chris as "it is Chris's prices". What a sad day for Merrimack and everyone else who service their cars at Tire Town. They do not make them like Chris anymore. Because of of Silva's lack of personal skill's and poor business practices our entire family will bring our service needs elsewhere. It is truly a shame!
