    Peach cobbler

Foodie Alert! I recently got a chance to visit Smokey Rose a cute Rustic-chic Tex-Mex restaurant. We were greeted with a warm smile from the hostess and sat on the patio (today was the perfect fall weather!). Our server was so sweet and she made what she thought was great recommendations for us to eat. We started with appetizers: Pork Belly Burnt Ends and the Happy Hour (HH) Brisket Queso. The burnt ends were OK; they might have been a little too burnt, but I will say the sweet glaze sauce on top made them pretty good. However, I want to emphasize HH because the portion size was very small. It was served in a tiny cup, but still, it was pretty good. Now for our entree we got The Pitmaster, wich is a Texas twist "Philly cheese" sandwich with brisket. To be honest it was just ok. The meat was very dry. I was expecting the meat to have more flavor and more juice. My friend's Mom got the brisket sliders and she said they were ok. And for dessert, we tried the peach cobbler, and let me tell you, it was an epic fail. I think we were expecting the traditional peach cobbler with all the juices flowing everywhere, but it was quite the opposite, and because of that, we had to send it back. Overall I would say the food was a 3/5 and the service 5/5. But if you're in the area I say check them out, you may have a different experience with the food!

I've been here before and it was good. We recently went yesterday and the food was disappointing. Everything including the breakfast potatoes and ketchup was overly sweet. The brisket was poor quality and had very little taste. The outdoor seating was overrun by small children running around unsupervised. Would not recommend.

Smoky Rose is such a cute and lively spot... and spacious. They had two events going on, on top of an already larger crowd and it didn't seem too busy. Our waiter was fairly new, which he warned us about ahead of time so we knew how to set our expectations. He was very friendly and seemed to try his best to ensure we had a great experience. Food: I ordered the Smoked Chicken Flautas and the Chicken Wings (Dry Rub). The dry rub wings were 10/10; highly recommended. The flautas had do much potential. For starters, I'm pretty sure they used flour tortillas (gasp) and the chicken itself didn't have much taste to it. However, the dressings on top were flavorful and they stuffed the flautas a great deal so it was a good bang for your buck.

I've had the pork belly burnt ends before. They were amazing and I think they get better the longer they sit in the fridge. I have craved them for two weeks. I normally don't 'finish my plate' and can get three meals out of one. I added the steak fajitas as a Saturday night dinner treat, and then would enjoy the rest through my work week. The vegetables are wonderful and I highly recommend a forkful of onion, pepper, sour cream, and potato. The meat, however is just not hitting it out of the ball park. The biggest disappointment was getting half-cooked translucent flour tortillas. They're gummy and I can't imagine this is what the owners intended. Barf. Again: fajita veggies: potatoes, bell peppers, onions- chef's kiss. The steak and tortillas, someone's abuela just rolled over in her grave.

Ambiance very NICE! Beautifully decorated for the holidays. 5 STARS Drinks- My cocktail was delish! 4 STARS Service was decent. Food came out hot and fast. Presentation was good. 3 STARS Food was just ok. It was very bland and just about everything needed seasoning. A little salt and pepper goes a long way! I chose the two meat combo with ribs and chicken. The BBQ sauce was AMAZING. The meat lacked flavor. The ribs were grilled nicely, but didn't taste like anything. The coleslaw was delicious. It was my favorite thing and it was a side. It was full of flavor. The collard greens were blah. 2 STARS Overall decent experience. I was glad to try it once since I have driven by it on several occasions. Valet parking is free, but mandatory. I didn't like that there was no self parking at lunch and it wasn't super crowded.

This is definitely a great spot for happy hour! They offer a solid selection of appetizers for just $7, along with their signature cocktails at the same price--a deal that's hard to beat. I went with the Blackberry Smash, and it did not disappoint. Perfectly balanced--not too tart, not too sweet--and with just the right kick. I also tried the wings and highly recommend the dry rub; the flavor was spot on. If you're looking for a go-to happy hour spot, this place is worth checking out!

Delicious food that is always a welcome place to go after the Dallas Arboretum. Today we ate outside, which is not table service but to order at the bar and then they give you a number and deliver the food to you. Food was prepared very quickly and delicious as always. Service is very pleasant and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable.

Smokey Rose is Southern BBQ done right. The restaurant is located across from the Botanical garden, making it a great destination to stop by after a visit. The space feels like a large enclosed patio that's thoughtfully designed to create a fine dining experience that's homey and chill. We ordered a 1/2 board of meats which were some of the best cuts I've had. The turkey was surprisingly our table's favorite-- perfectly tender, seasoned and cooked. The short- rib was a close second, and brisket! They were all incredibly mouth-watering. We ordered a few small side dishes: fried okra, pinto beans, green beans, mash potatoes, and collard greens. They were all spot on. The collard greens could have went a tad less salty but the rest were perfect. Our waiter, Patrick was friendly and super attentive. There was also a live musician playing while we dinned which made for a beautiful Southern dining experience.

Do they offer any vegetarian items? Asking because we have a company lunch and I don't want to appear like a pain.

They have some salads that you can choose from. Also, they have chips and queso and/or guac, as well as devils eggs that might work depending on what type of vegetarian diet you follow.

Is it pet friendly? Can dogs be sitting together at the patio area?

There were several dogs both small and large. All were on a leash. They had bowls of water too. I would say it's pet friendly for dogs.

Do y'all do happy hour on the patio? Also, when is live music?

Yes happy hour is the entire restaurant Monday thru Friday from 3-6pm. Live music is Tuesday thru… Read more

Super tender, full of flavor, and exactly what you want from Texas BBQ. The ribs were just as good, fall-off-the-bone and well seasoned. The pulled pork was also really solid. I added BBQ sauce, but honestly it didn't even need it. For sides, definitely get the spicy mac and cheese, baked beans, and potato salad. All of them were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. Ordered Turkey, Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage and Mac and Cheese on the 2 meat combo plate. First off, that was $27 which I thought was rather high but with the hype I thought it might be worth it. The turkey was tender and juicy and rather flavorful, except for the end piece of turkey breast (I assume) with the skin side which was extremely tough. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was okay, but it didn't really retain either the jalapeño, cheddar, or the smoky taste which I thought was disappointing. The Mac and Cheese had bacon bits on it which were nice and crispy but the Mac and Cheese wasn't very rich or complex flavor wise, which I found slightly underwhelming. The sauce was super runny and while it had flavor, I never think having to put sauce on stuff to give it flavor is the answer. All that being said, for $27 I wasn't going to leave anything on the plate. The service I thought was rather hands off and I'm surprised nobody came and checked on us although that may be just how things are. The ambiance was cool with old license plates and pictures along with some cool western themed things up on the walls to make it seem warm and homey. All in all, I was left with the feeling that there should've been more and I was kinda disappointed after all the hype I've seen and all the gravitas that the name Pecan Lodge carries with it. I'd say probably a 6.5-7/10 so that lands me at 3 stars because it really didn't feel 4 star worthy.
